Free internet Marketing Training idea. Input wanted.

Hi everyone,

For quite some time I have been wanting to move to Chile (my home country) and to get involved with other, truly committed Christians in more of the kind of fellowship they had in the New Testament rather than the baloney we see in North America today of considering church as being primarily what happens in a building on Sundays.

I have an idea that I would like input on that may help me realize both desires above while providing one's with free training in Internet Marketing success and would appreciate input on the idea from anyone here willing to give me some.

While I do not consider myself a raging success over the Internet just yet...I have made money over the Internet. Quite a bit in fact. But mostly it's been as a result of web development services offered to others followed by some affiliate income. I tried Adsense once, built seven sites, and did not make a penny but I learned a lot from that effort and may get back into Adsense at some point.

Anyway, making a living over the Internet is the ideal way to make a living in that we can live anywhere in the world that has an internet connection.

If I can help other Christians to learn at least what I know such that we all can help each other out and build internet success for ourselves perhaps among them there may be a few who might be willing to move to Chile with me and start something there more closely aligned with the kind of fellowship they had in the New Testament.

The training would be free but behind a login. I would hold nothing back. And I would only want to train those who are committed Christians so there would be some questions regarding their walk with God and otherwise.

But I really think we could help each other out. With brainstorming, encouragement, and otherwise.

This is all very, very preliminary but I though this might be an appropriate place to get input on this idea.

If you don't like Christian anything then pretend for purposes of this thread that I am talking about a group of environmentalists, Buddhists, or whatever you care to believe in...as a group that I as a fellow "believer" would be willing to get involved in helping so that we could more adequately move to where I want to live, Chile, and start some closer fellowship centered on our common belief.

A couple of problems I see off the bat...there will undoubtedly be some free seekers who will want the training, pretend to be a believer, and walk away with my help. That's something I would have to deal with as I go I guess and a risk I am willing to take for the greater benefit of the end goal. I could always require such persons to convert to a paid subscription training model while keeping the training free for true believers who would perhaps want to get involved with me in Chile.

It's risky asking about this here on a forum that may be mostly non-Christian I think but at the same time from an internet marketing perspective my idea involves helping a group of people for free to succeed over the internet and feeding off each other's encouragement...something you all are imminently qualified to give me input on as to whether such a thing is workable or not.

I believe that even my own success so far can be helped by having others to help. If others are relying on me to help them and I am not trying to be successful on my own it will help me stay on track instead of goofing off as much as I am prone to do sometimes.

Mind you I would not setting this up to see a profit just for myself. This is not about profit for me. It's about getting together a group of like minded individuals and helping them to make a living over the internet so that hopefully some could readily join me to live in Chile and start some sort of fellowship down there.

Any input or ideas would be welcomed.

Carlos

    Some ideas:

    1. About the questionnaire, to filter the Christians : I think that the real question is not if that person is a commited Christian or not, but if (s)he really wants to make money online or not. As someone who ran a Christian forum in the past, I can tell you that many members simply were not attracted to the idea of make money online. Some didn't want to make more money than they had, while others were afraid of new technology.

    2. Try to join one or more Christian forums and to introduce your idea on those forums. From the start, the Christian requirement is fulfilled.

    3. If your information creates addiction, some people will want more. Out of them, some will want to pay you, to get results faster.

Thanks for the input Sergiu. Much appreciated.

I see your point about many not wanting to make money over the Internet. I hadn't thought about that and assumed, perhaps wrongfully, that everyone would want to do such a thing.

As for posting on a Christian forum, I've did that after I posted here. Thing is that just because people are members of a Christian forum doesn't mean they are. The problem there is that people are interested in heavenly things but like you say...they are not very interested in making money.

I guess it's hard to find one's that are interested in pursuing the glory of God and making money...well...with the exception of those supposed Christians who proclaim a prosperity theology that God wants us all to be rich I guess. I theology I don't subscribe to.

Don't know how I am going to find the needle in a haystack type of person I am looking for. I figure there has got to be at least 40-50 people interested in making money over the Internet and potentially moving to Chile in the entire U.S. but finding them is the problem.

As for me making any money from this, it's possible I think but I am far more interested in helping some like minded individuals to start making money over the internet so that they might be in a better position to join me in Chile.

Short of making a living over the Internet I don't see much hope of any Christians being able to get involved in moving there with me. I mean it would be great to have other Christians interested in this but I don't know if I will readily find some.

      Thanks again for your input.

To take a christian ethic - you cannot serve God and Mammon.

Decide what is important to you and concentrate on that. If Christianity is most important then make your marketing training a part of your form of witness - NOT a peripheral aspect to your Christianity.

You stand in danger of being lumped in with the shysters who try to sell their products or services 'on a christian' basis. As a Christian, you are beholden to help those worse off than yourself and if they are seeking IM help (God knows, there are enough people asking for help in these boards), whether they are Christians or not, your duty is to help them.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

I am with you in that regard Art. I just though I could both make a living online and help others at the same time (I mean apart from how I make a living normally). Again I am not looking at this as a way to make more money from others. I truly and honestly want to help other Christians who might have an interest in the things the Lord has laid on my heart regarding fellowship and how it was meant to be and who might also have an interest in living elsewhere other than in the U.S. Specifically...Chile.

An interesting thought Art. What do you mean by making the training part of form of witnessing? Do you mean witness to people I train? That type of thing?

If so...I mean that's always a good thing but I am not sure I would want to give away free training just for the chance to witness to others. Maybe that would be worthwhile. I'll have to think about that but I also have to be motivated and part of my motivation is helping some to make a living online such that we could all move to Chile if there was that common desire.

Indeed. I have been misunderstood before and will undoubtedly be misunderstood again. I once was so moved by a program showing the plight of Americans without health insurance that I went on a Christian forum asking about the idea of starting a web site whereby we could all pitch in $10 a month to help such individuals out and was labeled as a wolf in sheep's clothing coming in to make money off the misfortune of others.

I would not charge for my training though. It would be free.

As a Christian, you are beholden to help those worse off than yourself and if they are seeking IM help (God knows, there are enough people asking for help in these boards), whether they are Christians or not, your duty is to help them.
A good point Art. One I will have to think about respecting how best to do that and how I might be able to use whatever I am gifted in to better my fellow man while also making a living (though such is not the aim of this idea).

Good that you would share freely with other believers, but I think you come accross a bit judgemental here... The training would be free but behind a login. I would hold nothing back. "And I would only want to train those who are committed Christians so there would be some questions regarding their walk with God and otherwise".

Surely you may want to just teach anyone who shows an interest in our lord, rather than sit in judgement as to were they are in their walk ? Anyway brother hope it works out for you, bazzar as it sounds.

    God Bless.

Hmm...you may have a point Mike. I need to be careful with that.

I guess where I am coming from is that I don't want to offer free training to just anyone and their next door neighbor. My desire is to help those from whom I might reasonably have a chance of finding some that might be willing to join me in Chile. To join me there to get involved in some ministry.

But that might be a problem in that I don't know who if anyone will ever go to Chile with me.

This idea may not be workable in that sense. I might just find myself training people for free without any reasonable chance of my training accomplishing any of what I desire which would defeat the purpose of my offering it for free.

I don't want to offer free training to Christians in general since it will take a lot of my time and effort. I mean it's a nice thought to offer such training for Christians but such a thing would not further my desires or goals in the Lord for my life I don't think.

I'll have to think about this more. It may not be workable.

      Thanks.

      Carlos
