Do you have a trademark in the US?

How did you get it?

Did you do it yourself, use an attorney or a service?

I need to look into getting a tradmark. I know you can do it yourself but I would rather leave it to people who do it all the time.

Instead of using an attorney which think will be the most expensive, I was thinking of using a service like:

Trademark Exress
TradeMark Express - Your Home for Trademark Registration and Trademark Research

Has anyone used a company like this or any other they can recommend?

Thanks, RMX

Before you use Legal Zoom or any other service check carefully and see if they have any complaints against them.

I know you can do some initial Trademark searches yourself but an attorney or good service can help you if there are conflicts etc.

I tried it myself but the trademark application process is a minefield and is full of technicalities. After my applications were initially rejected I hired an attorney to get them through. A good attorney will typically charge a flat $1,000 plus filing fees.

What are you trying to trademark?

I guess the question then becomes:

How do you find a good attorney.

Mine charges $250 an hour - and wants a $3,500 retainer. I've found companies online promising to do it for under $500 - so it's making me think either (a) I'm being gouged by my attorney [I'd be SHOCKED! If you can't trust an attorney not to overcharge you, who can you trust!!] --- or (b) these online companies are hiding fees they'll surprise me with later.

If you know of any good attorneys, please let me know. :0)

    Thanks!

    Best,
    Jeff
