I think the key is to be consistent. 5 emails in 5 days and then nothing for a few weeks may not be ideal - although each base of customers is different and you'll need to do some testing. If you go to the service provider websites like Aweber or Mailchimp they have some great articles about how often to send emails etc.

This depends on the type of niche you're in and your reputation.

If you're in the IM niche, sending emails 5 times a day may get you a lot of unsubscribers unless you're really well known and deliver valuable content often.

So the best way is to regularly email your list and cut down until you get the number that gives you the least unsubscribes.

Yes, 5 mails in 5 days then nothing for two weeks is definitely not good.

I see people doing different things, and it can depend on your marketing model and of course your products an customers.

Importantly. Are these paying customers or freebie downloaders. Those groups need different treatment

All that being said consistency is the thing.
After two weeks you will find that a bunch on your list will not even remember you and when you do send (even free stuff) just watch for the spam complaints!

There is no perfect model (in my opinion) but if you are just starting to grow your list then give them an email at least twice a week (daily is too much long term). Give them valuable content, preferably free stuff that they would believe was worth paying for. Not all free stuff is valuable content!!!

Don't be afraid to send “paid for stuff” either. In the end you want your list to buy so they may as well know that from the beginning.

Those that bail at the sign of a sales letter are no good to you anyway. It is all about building a relationship with your list but it needs to be an even sided relationship. No good sending out 6 months of free stuff, lulling them into a false sense of security and them pouncing on them with a sales letter.

      hope that helps a little

      Tony

I find that an email every 3/4 days with good quality content seems to do the trick.

Sending 5 emails on consecutive days would annoy me slightly......unless they were excellent, must have content.

    Regards

I like to send first 37 emails every day and give a lot of value in them. Establish trust and relationship. Later on I just remind about my offer and send email every 2,3,4 days. It really depends on your market and offer. For some markets people are not used of getting emails at all and in some (IM) you can get away in sendig emails every day for few months

I try to send two emails a week, One content email, usually with a video and one promo or ad swap.

      Try to be consistent

The trick is to remain front of mind without being a pain to your email subscribers. Their inboxes will usually be crammed with crap, so ensure you only send them great content, and you will do ok.

There isn't a 'magic' frequency that you should adhere to. In my experience, as long as you are sending valuable content to your email subscribers, it doesn't matter if you send one per day, one per week, or one per month. As long as every email isn't a sales pitch, your unsubscribes will stay low, and your conversion rate will be great.

        Cheers, Gary

Here is my own email intervals:

    1. Once they confirmed their subscription, the first email is sent immediately.
    2. Email them the following day, then after 3 days, a couple of 4 days and finally once a week (unless there's something interesting for my subscribers)

Think someone already said it, but if you don't mail for a week or 2, then they're not going to know who you are when you mail again.

Here is my frequency - Everyday!!! But my list also get one informative email a week.

The daily email is a gift which they sign up for. It's the informative email once a week that I want them to really look at my offer.
