A weird forgotten about website from 2006 makes $101.75

I started internet marketing back in 2005, and back then I was obsessed with dropshipping and ebay... although I never made any money from it (i just about broke even, long story).

Then I found the warrior forum and found out about affiliate marketing and clickbank... so I decided to make a website.

With hardly any money I had to use a free blogger site and I had no clue what I was doing... I didn't even know about keyword research.

I built the site around 'Free Paypal Dropshippers' - a term I had searched a lot of times in my dropshipping ebay days... so I knew a bit about it and I knew some suppliers.

Free Paypal Dropshippers

I put some clickbank 'recommended' dropshipping ebooks above my posts, and then kinda forgot about the site... I didn't even look at it again.

It was only the other day logging into my old old old email account I noticed there were some emails from CLICKBANK, and then it dawned on me I had a really old clickbank account I had probably only ever logged into once back in 2006. I decided to check.

My crappy weird little free blogger site had made over $100. Nice little bonus, they hadn't been sending the cheques though because I hadn't confirmed something in my account... don't really quite know the reason, but I logged in and sent them a support message, and they sent the cheque today.

Here's the cheque >> Video Game Profits » $100 from 2006 mystery site

Just thought it was a nice story to share....

Check your old accounts, and old websites, you might have a small fortune buried somewhere.

Funny enough, I just checked an old site I abandoned over a year ago, and I have $21 in adbrite earnings sitting in it. :p I totally forgot about that.

The question is, why didn't they send me a check? I had set the minimum payout to $20. I guess I'll email them and see what's up.

Hey... I got a nice little surprise in the mail today. $20.55 My first ever check from online stuff, although I'm really not going to count it as such because of various reasons.

Sort of makes me wish I didn't give up on that little venture. The domain is long expired by now and I didn't even backup any of the content. Oh well. If/when I start making a legit online income I'm definitely not going to give up on it again.

    this is true Joseph

the problem is I have so many affiliate networks setup I have to remember to check every month or so

That's why a network that does all you ads for you is ideal but most take their cut

I did find some in one a while back and the key is not to spend it : )

    Hi,

    Something similar happened to me.

I was running an adwords ad on a site, and when the word got to competitive I just stopped running the ad and left the site alone and it never even came to mind again.

    Fast forward about a year . . .

For the heck of it, I logged into the affiliate account for that site, and there was $350 plus dollars in the account.

I was a little confused as to where the sales had came from until I realized that after I stopped running the adwords ad, the site got a natural ranking in the search engines for a low traffic search term.

Turns out the site was making an order a month, like clockwork, all from organic traffic and I would have never known it if I hadn't logged back into the affiliate account.

It felt like free money because I really had no clue that it was just sitting there.
