Default What opt in rate % should i be going for?

I am in the diet niche and i get about 150 UV per day. I have a site exit popup.

What is a good percentage of optins to get? What should I shoot for or expect? Any standards?

Wow I need to make some improvements. I'm at 20% and its pretty targeted traffic. Delighted to hear I should be able to get that to 50+%. That would be great.

I need to put togethor multiple landing pages and get the multi testing going.

Yeah.. upwards of 50% Jake...

It is affected by many factors though.. freebie's get higher.. but buying customer opt-ins are worth more...

The niche could need something fresh to stimulate it..

But upwards of 50% is a good guide..

Peace

I think 30-40% is the average opt in rate and anything higher is gravy

Rather than an exit pop-up for an opt-in would you be able to offer a discount on your product?

I would think that an extra 5% of buyers is more profitable than 50% freebie seekers.

Sadly I can't remember the name of the script you could use, but if you look at any of the recent big launches you will see it in action.

Shouldn't you be going for 100%? You'll probably never get quite there, but why aim for a mediocre number? If you're at 50% do you stop there or try to improve?

The reason you MAY want to stop focusing on conversion rate is the value of your time.

For example, let's say it took you a month to improve your conversions from 20% to 50%. Great!

Then it takes another month to improve from 50% to 70%. Fantastic!

Then it takes another month to improve from 70% to 72%.

Ehh... yes your conversions improved another 2%. But how much more could you have made in that time bringing in more traffic and making more sales? Or you could even spend that time to move into another market and increase your earnings even more.

Personally, I HATE the conversions of my squeeze pages, but I make a lot more money (both short and long term) doing other activities than spending my time trying to improve my conversions.

So yes, hypothetically you could try to improve your conversions as much as possible. But at some point, the time you invest versus the money you get in return is not worth the effort. You have to keep that in mind as you work on that type of stuff.

Solomon, you have every right to say whatever you like, but I don't agree with you.

In essence you mean don't care about conversions? Wrong, and Wrong again.

Traffic is important, but so are conversions. Finally the most important things are your offer, its exclusivity and its price point.

To the OP:

I get conversions of nearly 60% of my squeeze pages... And I am testing video squeeze pages, will be out with the results in a few days. But I am already seeing even more increase in conversions.

But yes, 50% is what you should aim for initially.

Its the weight loss niche and I assume traffic is targeted so 50% should be easy.

I think you misinterpreted. I was referring to the post before me about shooting for 100%.

I never said conversions aren't important. They are important (I track my own ads as well), but only to a certain degree.

At some point though, your time will be better spent elsewhere. For example, rather than spending a month to improve a squeeze to from 70% to 72%, I could target a related or new market and start doubling the growth of my lists.

Solomon...

Improving conversions IS making more money..

I would much rather improve my conversions from my current traffic, thengo out looking for more..

Now don't get me wrong.. more traffic should always be on the agenda.. but I would want to make sure my current traffic is converting properly before I go out to get more...

What is the point in just doubling the traffic??.. when I can double the conversion rate AND then get more traffic...

Peace

Jay

I'm happy with anything over 30% in most of my niches...

Solomon!

Read Jay's post carefully... OK now read it again, this time CAREFULLY.

The thing is that you don't spend an entire month JUST working on your conversions. Split testing requires small changes at a time... Ideally you spend just 5 minutes a day or lesser changing just one element and then you have all the time in the world to do whatever you want.

Even if its an increase from 72% to 74%, I would still go for it... All it takes is just a few minutes a day, depending upon the software/script you are using.

Because when you get more traffic, YOU NEED MORE CONVERSIONS... Because 2% of 100,000 is 2000... And I can not afford to miss 2000 extra subscribers.... Not even 200. So even if you are getting some modest amount of traffic like 300 unqiues a day, you need to work on your conversions.

Hope that explaines

I think it's just a different philosophy. You believe one thing and it probably works better for you. I definitely spend a lot more than 5 minutes looking at a page and thinking about what I can improve, but for you it may only take a few minutes.

I've never said don't spend time improving conversions. However, once I reach a certain level, I'm more than happy leaving it as is and moving on to something else.

Nor did I ever say improving conversions doesn't make more money, it definitely does. But I (keyword being I) make more money working on my next project than trying to improve a squeeze page that has already been tweaked to death.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong. I don't understand the hostility for having a different perspective and sharing what works for someone else.

Well... You just don't think much with Split testing... you just do it and see if it worked... And that takes just 5 minutes... no more...

I don't know of anything else as good as Split testing... Lets see if someone else does.

Why not shoot for 100%? If you go for the industry "standard" you'll end up with standard results.

Now, I'm not saying you'll get 100% - that may be unattainable - but you should always be testing and attempting to outperform your current exit pop-up.

If you have 150 unique visitors a day, you have a perfect opportunity to test to find better performing copy, offers etc.

In fact, I have an idea. Private Message (PM) me the word "idea" if you want me to share it with you.
