Article writing or Copy writing course?

Hi,
I have a few Amazon and Adsense sites and would like to become a better writer. There are so many courses to choose from, but not sure whether to go for an Article writing course or a copy writing course.
Which one would be best?
Regards.

Copywriting is usually used in the context of setting up a sales page. People can pay thousands of dollars to someone to do this before a product launch. Article writing is less promotional though there is generally a call to action at the end. I think what you are looking for is probably article writing information because you don't want a sales pitch page for each page of an adsense site. You'd want to give your visitors helpful information on a topic or product .

All of the above are true.

It comes down to a question. Do you want people to buy from you (or take an action) after reading your site?

    If yes, go copywriting.

I would recommend two courses to you

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...make-stop.html

This one should get you started on writing good articles that are appropriate for where you are putting them.

This one will particularly help you with affiliate preselling.

    Hope these help

An article writing course, almost certainly.

They're not totally separate things (in spite of some copywriters alleging that they are!). "Title writing" and "resource-box writing" are areas of article writing in which some copywriting skills are useful, but I really can't imagine you need anything like a copywriting course for your purposes.

One of the very commonest ways that affiliates go wrong is by trying to use writing that reads like sales copy on their sites. Trying to persuade people is usually a mistake, in affiliate marketing. That's what sales pages are for, not affiliate sites.

My recommendation for an article writing course would be John Zeus' WSO. I've been writing for a while and I was very happy with his course. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...make-stop.html

There is also a ton of really good info in this forum that is free that deals with article writing and also a bunch of folks who write great copy in the copy writing forum.

Steve Wagenheim has some good stuff on writing also and is also someone I respect...along with Alexa

I, like a few above, also recommend the article course by Zeus66, having bought and read through (edit: or should I say watched) it myself recently.

I'm no stranger to writing articles (and tailoring my approach in each instance in an attempt to make my articles better serve their intended purpose); I've been doing it for ages. But I still found plenty of tips, tricks and tidbits of useful information in there for the price to be more than justified.

It depends on what you mean by "be a better writer".

For example, do you mean improve your grammar and syntax? If so, just buy a book on grammar and syntax!

If you want more people to click on your affiliate link, then you need to know how to PRE-SELL effectively.

As Alexa implied, you don't really want to be pitching people on your affiliate pages. However, learning to improve your writing isn't necessarily going to teach you how to PRE-SELL. You need to learn this skill.

It's just... where to find someone who will show you how to do that. I just don't know.

Oh, but Nicola has some great advice. You should definitely listen to her.

      Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your all your advice. I think I will concentrate on some Article writing courses, and in the future take a look at some copy writing material.
      Thanks a bunch.

      Hi jsanderz...

The best option for what you're currently doing (Adsense and Amazon sites) is article writing. Writing copy for the most part will come into play when you're selling your own products or using email marketing to a list of subscribers.

As Alexa pointed out, article titles and resource boxes are elements of articles that can benefit from an understanding of the principles of strong copy. But if your intention is to continue doing what you're doing - only more effectively - article writing is probably what you want to master first.

You'll find lots of helpful threads here on the forum and you can't go wrong with products from the likes of John Schwartz, Mike Long and Steven Wagenheim.
