Giveaways to Build Your List

Hi Warriors,

Quick question for you advanced guys...

I am wondering how you guys feel about giveaways to build your list? I have recently been seeing some good results with the numbers of people signing up for my offers and lists...

My question is it is to early for me to know the quality of these people who are signing up.

I would appreciate some adive from some of you who know.

1) Is the quality of the subscriber good enough to warrant doing these giveaways?

2) Is it always necessary to buy one of the upgrades that are being offered?

3) It is really quick to sign up and send through a "free gift" so it is not a matter of taking too much time, but I am wondering if it is worth it or should I be focusing on other aspects of I.M. (I realize this is a bit of a perspective questions... So don't worry about it if you dont want to answer.

    I don't like the quality of lists built with giveaway's so I stopped contributing to them.

    In the end they're freebie seekers who saw your offer along with a ton of other offers so they don't know you from Adam so you have to easy them in slowly with your marketing process.

    I always took the upgrade since it's pretty cheap way to contribute more gifts and they usually keep your offers front and center if you upgrade vs. getting buried in page 27.

      In my experience, giveaways are good for building your list but not the best when trying to monetize.

      As mentioned above, these prospects are more freebie seekers rather than buyers. One of my list is from giveaway events and open rates have been minimum.

      If you think about it, how many email list do they end up on at a giveaway event?

      I would imagine some use junk emails when signing up.

    I think the quality of a subscriber from a giveaway is low, so you need to warm them up and really work on building a relationship if you're going to pitch em.

    BTW, giveaways are most valuable when you run your own because not only are you leveraging everyone in the giveaway, but you're also making PayPal cash with OTOs.

    I create separate lists for where I'm pulling traffic from.

    As it's been said, giveaway events (this is what we are talking about right lol) are prime spots for freebie seekers. For my giveaway lists, they get promoted to often. They don't care to listen to what I have to say, so I don't care if they don't like getting promoted to.

    If they buy something from me, they are automatically added to one of my normal lists where I am 100% about quality of content over promo's. I don't care if you purchase only a $3 product, you are on the next level of me liking you lol.

    Some might do it the opposite and really try and convince these guys to buy your stuff with huge over delivery of goodies throughout your autoresponder. I did this too when I first started participating in giveaways.

    From my experience, this has been a waste of time. The majority of your giveaway subscribers are going to be using junk emails and fake names like 'abdfuasd'.

    I like to provide my quality stuff to those that are going to use it...freebie seekers don't use much of what they find.

      This is the same strategy I have taken with giveaway events. I used to participate in quite a few but have limited the number I participiate in now. I also always try to upgrade because this often means you can add more gifts, stay closer to the top and also often get to add special offers, text adds, and other cool stuff.

    Guys, the giveaway is like when you move to a new neighborhood and you bake a cake for the guys next door: it's just a gratitude token saying "Hello, my name is XXX and welcome to my place". Nothing more, nothing less.

    What makes or breaks the quality of a list is what you do with the list afterwards, not the initial giveaway itself. You dont expect a list to perform like crazy if, after the giveaway, you hammer them with affiliate offers day in and day out, right?

    Hey Guys, I appreciate the comments here...

    I believe that these lists are not quite as high quality as many of the other lists that I have been building... That being said, the feeling I get from reading this is it can't hurt if its literally taking 20 minutes out of my day to throw the product on there and tweet about it once or twice.

    The place I am still not sure where to go is with the after sign up advertising... what strategy to take them through, sounds like the best way is the slow but steady way.

    I agree with the previous comments I am not big into giveaways a bunch of freebie seekers in my opinion.

    You are better off doing adswaps, proper SEO, or solo mailings. Just drive as much targeted traffic to your landing pages as possible.
