I have been trying to make money online for over 3 months now.

I made an ebook by myself.

I got about half way through with an ebook I was working on with someone when they just stopped communicating with me. Had about 30 pages done.

Built 2 blogs focused on making money.

Built 4 squidoo lens.

And wrote over 40 articles selling and driving traffic to my sites..

My blogs have alexa rating in the 600k and pr 1

I am getting tired of trying so hard to make money and having NO results. Have not made a cent!

Am I the only one having this issue????

If you're trying to make money online through teaching other people how to make money online when you're not making any yourself, not only will you fail, but you actually deserve to fail. Don't sell money making products if you don't know how to make money. Step away from the IM niche and promote something else. Electronics, toys, health, sports, there's plenty of niches in any of these major areas.

      Hi,

There are many niches out there beside money-making niche.

As what Darth has mentioned, the direction you are going is not the right way...in the sense it is like teaching someone to cook when one can't cook.

How will the dish turn out to be?

One thing I must compliment you is that you have been through the process of building lenses, creating ebook and so on.

Now, equipped with the skills, focus on something related to what you know and what you are strong in.

      Cheers,
      John

I also started out this way. I was trying to be a GURU in the IM niche when I didn't know &*^%!

I think this is a major mistake beginners make. Jumping in and trying to make money in the make money arena.

Go after a niche that you are already interested in. I struggled for about 3 months when i very first started. Now after about 5 months in a totally different niche ONE of my sites is making about $100 per day. And then guess what happens. You actually can start learning what other people need help with making money online. THEN get into the IM niche.

I'd give it another go and this time focus on something that you enjoy and know about it. Rather than make a number of sites I would go with the power of one. One site, focus your energy on that site, drive traffic to it with one method one week and then move to another method etc, when that site starts to make some money for you move to the next one and still maintain the first one.

I'm sure you must have a lot of interests/skills that people would be interested in - brainstorm a few and look up some affiliate programs for them.

    All the best

    That's pathetic... seriously..

Amazon.com didn't turn a profit for like 5 years when they started..

Most businesses take a couple years to get moving...

Internet marketing swings it in your favour more than any other thing you will try.. and you're moaning after 3 months...

You've barely taken any action... if you don't have money to invest then you're gonna have to invest time...

Yes I agree 3 months is nothing, our award winning Steven Wag didn't make nothing but $50 in his 6 months when he started out, and look at him now, hes doing Greeeeeeat, I think you might be doing too many thing all at once as well. Take things slow and focus on one aspect and master it and you will eventually make money soon.

Now Jay mentions amazon didn't turn a profit till its 5th year, actually amazon lost money for close to a decade and then it started making the "truckload Of greens" - Mel's famous saying..lol

Just stick to a skill, master it and it will help you out, another famous quote " you can either give a man a fish and feed him for a day OR teach him to catch a fish and it will feed him for a lifetime"

And I thought an Internet Goddess could have just snapped her fingers
        and become successful overnight.

All kidding aside, my first 2 years I was averaging about $1,500 to $2,000
a month...and that was after the first 5 months when I made only $28.

It took me way too long to get to where I am, but that's because I was
slow, had no direction and really needed to learn an awful lot.

That's why when people tell me they've been doing something for a few
days and haven't made any money, I just shake my head.

      lol...Exactly what I was thinking.

Anyways, Jimewing, have you written those ebooks yourself? Has anyone read those yet and gave you any feedback?

Here is an idea, how about you give those ebooks to someone and ask for feedback. Not on the content but on your writing style etc. If they give you a thumbs up and say they don't mind paying for that kind of writing, you can write for other people and make some money. Many people don't want to write even a small article and you finished your ebook. Seems like you don't mind writing. Give it a shot, you might see your first dollars very soon.

There are many excellent writers in this forum. You can learn a lot from them. Even if it means spending a few bucks, do so. You will improve a lot. But thats totally up to you.

And if you like the make money niche so much, don't start with an ebook, specially when you don't have any experience. You can easily start with affiliate marketing. Actually Jay made a post on this topic a few days back, check that out. That is very doable and you might like the idea.

Whatever you decide, best of luck to you mate.

    Hello Jiimewing,

3 months is still early to give up! Some online businesses take at least 6 months before it becomes solid. It seems lke you have put some effort into building your business and profile - do you really want to throw all that hard work away? Without knowing completely what you are doing in terms of marketing I would say that you seem to be doing the right things. Just need to focus on 2-3 effective marketing strategies, master those and then start another. Some marketing strategies can be done for FREE or with little money! Alot of people try to do everything ALL at once and it gets overwhelming. So stick to a marketing plan.

So hang in there and seek advice. Have a look at what others are doing.

Hope it goes well and feel free to PM me if you need assistance.

    Cheers

This is a pathetic cry for help. What have tou done to make any money. Wrote 30 pages of an e-book with someone and put up a few blogs and lenses. What is your own e-book about.

Surely you did not think that the money would just rolls in because you are online. It can take years to even learn the skills required to do that. This is not meant to put you down but rather to get you to pull your socks up and get on with it.

First of all what are you trying to sell? You can't tell anyone else how to make money on line because you havn't done it.

What do you know? What is your hobby? What are your interests? What do you have a passion for? Look to these things and then to making a niche site on one of them and then you might get somewhere.

    Hope this helps

    God bless

OK, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but here goes. I went to your first sig line website. I read the first page. Man, the writing just blows. I'm really sorry that I'm being so blunt, but I think you need some honesty. Please look at the tons of posts here about pre-selling your prospects. You need to feel their pain! Once they know you feel their pain, you've got to show them the light. Lead them to the promised land. That's how you get happy customers, NOT BY having your first paragraph basically comprised of your very cumbersome keyword phrase repeated over and over and over again. I hope this points you in the right direction.

Go to google keyword tool and type in basketball...

pick some things that come up with lower search results...more likely to have a bit less competition.

Next...take those keywords and type them into the "Keyword Discovery Tool"
(a seperate tool) to further narrow down.

Next pick ONE KEYWORD and develop content about it! Stay Focused.

(Get a notepad and write down all the keywords that look good...and after you monetiz one...move to the next)

Are you kidding me? Head on over to clickbank, I am almost positive there is a product there regarding basketball.
Make a blog around basketball and have tons of banners for that basketball e-book. Have an opt in page so you can capture peoples emails and than send out new basketball e-books. Better yet make your own e-book about basketball and sell it!

As someone else mentioned you can sell ice to an eskimo...so it shouldn't be too hard to sell a basketball training guide to someone who is searching for a way to get better at basketball right?

        Good luck,
        Don't give up just yet...

You say you like basketball...I remember back when I was looking at CB products to promote there was a product on increasing your vertical jump geared towards ballers that was selling very well.

Affiliate market that product by adding an additional bonus that you are giving out for them buying through you. Use your expertise and passion for basketball to sell the product and make people believe in you that it works.

You can probably get a free copy of the product by talking to the owner and telling him your plan to affiliate. Drop him an email and take it from there.

          Good luck!

How to shoot more 3 point hoops!

How to improve your dribbing skills.

How to have conceed less points.

        How to defend better.

The key to drawing more fouls.

For God's sake, you could not find anything in Basketball niceh to sell... There must be TONS of stuff... Think about it, all the fan stuff for teams, pictures, balls, clothes, DVD's. Just from the top of my head. Do a search for example in Google about these things, look for something available in Clickbank, Paydotcom etc places related to Basketball. If you love it, you will find it. There just seems to be a lot of hurt and anger in you at the moment against the whole world saying it's not fare nobody is buying from you. Listen, I have been studying for 6 weeks now, from the beginning, how to do things right. My mentor said, it takes time. You have to do EVERYTHING possible in the beginning, TRY everything until you find the couple of best ways (for YOU) of driving traffic to your LISTpage. Have you done a listpage ? Then, you puch and push. And push some more, until you get that snowball on top of that hill. Once it's up there, all it needs is just one more LITTLE push, and it starts rolling down the hill. And it gets bigger and bigger. Huge. Huger... (bad english I know). After working REALLY hard for a while, it gets easier. You just cannot give up until you get to your momemtum. Ok ? Go boy, go !

Others here have made some very valid points. It took me awhile before I found a few niches that I could consistently make money with.

It would seem that we may not be able to earn money in some niches that others make money in. I failed in a few that others were making a killing in. I'm making money in areas that others have failed in.

If you are serious and work hard enough, you will probably find one successful niche, then another, then soon you are making enough to work full time.

The limited success I have had so far was earned with a lot of work. I was not a natural salesperson. I had to learn A LOT about sales. I'm still learning, and probably will always be learning.

If you are serious about this, you will most probably succeed. But, it is completely up to you.

    Best of luck

Sounds like you're really still deciding whether or not you even want to do the thing.

On top of what those above me have stated I'd like to add please consider that because something is hard does not mean it's impossible. Are you going to quit just because it's a little hard? That's the very definition of a quitter.

I know I don't know you but I know this, you're no quitter.

    (basicly none)
But do you know what? This acctually pushes me to try harder to reach my goals. The way I see it is that you are 3 months closer to making it now, then you were when you started. Also If you did want to give up now then all the last 3 months would of been for nothing!!!!!!!!!

DON"T Give up on your dream!

    DON'T.

Three months is not enough time to learn a whole new industry.

It took me from May of '07 'till almost the years end to be making $1,600.00 USD net a month. And I have twenty five years of top 25 Brand Marketing experience combined with strong PC skills!

It takes some of us longer because we are more methodical. :p

Stay off the: "I made $1,353.96 on Face Book in less than 18 Hours and you can too"-threads.
    • You have to learn Marketing. What compels a person to buy? How to find them. Where do they hang out Online? What's their lingo and concerns / problems.
    • You need to learn the mechanics of creating sites.
    • You need to learn Copy Writing.
    • You need to learn how to obtain relevant traffic and PPC price points that work.
    • You need to understand how PPC at Google and Yahoo work. How does Placement Targeting work, Content Network and Bidding strategies.

No way can anyone figure all that out in just three months!

In the beginning It may take a dozen sites and or niches to find one that breaks even.

And If it can break even you can tweak to profit!

Maybe just take a break and come back in a few days or weeks.

    But don't quit!

Too early to give up, it took me a lot longer than that before I made money.

My advice - find a good step by step program to join. Yeah you might have to invest a little in it, but if you can join a program and follow it exactly, then that is the best way to go.

If you can't think of anything to sell relating to basketball, then you are not passionate about it.

If that is the case, then you will not be able to think of things to sell with niches you are not passionate about.

Seems you want everything handed to you on a silver platter, because you don't want to work. You think being online is your excuse for being lazy and having massive amounts of money, sorry it doesn't work.

Basketball I know nothing about the sport, but I can think of lots of things people would buy. Books, magazines, sportswear, basketballs, just to name a few without thinking about it. Tickets to matches.

If you are passionate about the sport what do you spend your money on relating to the game? Chances are other people will do the same thing.

Do a mindmap on basketball. Use that to get you thinking about what to promote.

Also, try going it alone this time. Sometimes others can accidentally sabotage our efforts.

You can promote this via clickbank...the site isn't too pretty. But you earn 44 bucks per sale. Effective High School Basketball Drills

Don't limit yourself to just basketball either...I love basketball too and I know every guy I have ever played with has 3 things he wants. He wants a bigger verticle jump, wants to run quicker, and wants nicer abs.

Their are tons of products on Clickbank about all of those subjects...
    Hope this helped,

Firstly, you need to get rid of the attitude of "I can't do anything with xyz niche!" I believe it was here that I read someone say something along the lines of "If someone has a question you have an ebook."

I'm no marketing guru. Heck, I'm still in the process of writing my own ebook. However, I have done tons of research on preselling. You have to feel their pain, as it has been said. You have to make them feel like you have been in their shoes. You know where they're coming from. Then, ease in to it and let them know you have the solution.

Don't give them the solution, offer them tidbits of the solution in to "reports." Now, take these reports and use an autoresponder to give them away. This can help build you a mailing list. You can then use something like a sequential autoresponder to send out a sales pitch.. err.. newsletter to your potential buyers. From what I have read, many people don't buy on the first go. It's after sales pitches.. err.. newsletters.

Your automated sales pitches should not sound like a sales pitch. If a potential customer reads that, they will unsubscribe in a heartbeat. They don't want to be harassed by an e-used-car-salesman. They want to feel like they are getting something out of the emails. That's where you add a little more information in the sales pitches and offer them the chance to purchase the product. You want your potential customers to look forward to your next newsletter. When they see your newsletter in the inbox, you want them to think, "Wow! I wonder what I'm going to learn now." You don't want them to think, "Oh great! What's he going to try and sell me now?"

You do not have to "sell" anything. The previous poster just mentioned an ebook you can be an affiliate of. Sign up. You can make money off of affiliates. Offer people products/services related to your niche. Can't find anything? The best place to do a keyword search is the thesaurus. What are some words associated with basketball? Of of the top of my head without looking anything up: sports, fitness, nutrition, exercise, vitamins, health, outdoors.

Now, take that list and build on subcategories. You could advertise or promote products such as vitamins and minerals (puritans pride, GNC, etc). There's affiliate programs where you could promote fitness equipment, health magazine subscriptions. Use your imagination.

There's more in my head, but just that little bit of info should keep you busy. Remember, you are not selling people an ebook or a service, you are selling them YOU! You have to presell. I don't know you any different from Joe down the street. What makes you credible to suggest a product or service to me? That's where the preselling comes in. Show people you know what you are talking about. Have people feel educated after reading your newsletter, website, lens, blog, etc.

This has probably already been mentioned but:

the make money online niche is the of the toughest out there

if you don't know how to make money online yourself, how can you possibly teach others

never start out in the mmo niche and don't have only one niche

    3 months is nothing

Internet marketing is not for everyone. Some people will say "don't give up" but that's bad advice if internet marketing is not for you. If it really isn't for you, then give up and do something else.

  • Honestly if you want to succeed in this business you have the wrong attitude.

Do you think anyone that has any sort of success just had it handed to them? The majority have to work for it.

Think about this saying because it's never been more true:

"Anything worth having you'll have to work for."

If you want success, you have to put in the time and effort to learning how to work either smarter or harder than the next guy.

The best attitude to have is one of relentless effort. You have to tell yourself that no matter what happens you will either find a new way or learn from the reasons why it failed.

The truth is that if you want to succeed you'll find a way to do it. What happens when you fail 14 times and succeed the 15th? You succeed. Keep working and never give up, because one way or another if you want it bad enough you will make it happen.

I've been desperate, still am desperate! Have asked for help and got help, but I NEVER thought of giving up!

The choice is yours, you either give up in failure or get back to it and make it work!

YoYo Pro, that's so true. I mean 14 times is nothing. Look at the light bulb. Edison was quoted as stating, "I tested no fewer than 6,000 vegetable growths, and ransacked the world for the most suitable filament material." He was also quoted as saying, "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration."

By the time of his death in 1931, he had patented 1,031 of his inventions. Now, what do you think would have happened if he stopped after his 14th plant fiber or material? 14 is a far cry from 6000.

I really appreciate your creativity in this line. Any business takes at least 6 months to 1 year to pick up or to show any result. So, why don't you wait for some more time? I feel 3 months is too short a period to give up. You may try to find out in the meantime how others who are able to make money do and what deficiencies your works have. Try to set them right and give a try once again. You should succeed. Have confidence in yourself.

You make me laught, I have been online since december last year ( nine 9 months cos the first 2 months was wasted) and yet I have not made anything and not giving up yet.

You have 4 lens?? I have 7 all ranking very good for their keywords

Your blog is page 1?? oh my mine is page 4
600k alexa ?? my is ossciliating between 350k and 400k

you wrote 40 articles in 3 months ??? I write 60 articles every month meaning I have written 180 articles in 3 months.

I have every reason to give up but the fact that giving up makes me a failure makes me ashame. You are not alone I also need to make my first 100 dollars and I usually feel like giving up.

my advise to you is to buy many motivational books and read whenever you feel like giving it. It works for me and it will work for me

my recommendation : Failing Forward : John Maxwell
Success is a journey : Brian Tracy
Setback is a setup for a comeback : Willie Jolley

those three are very powerful books that can get you motivated but if you need a JV Partner pm me, I will be interested in a partnership with a fellow struggler LOL

Hey - let me first tell you that in my first year I made $29 - total for the entire year! Now 4 years later, I do 5 figures completely passively.

That's not a massive income compared to what some others are doing here - and I am not trying to brag either - but I am telling you straight that it takes time, effort, persistence, patience, determination and knowing you are going to get there.

If you can't make a plan and stick to it until you succeed, then you are probably right to give up now. You will certainly save yourself all that time and frustration, but sadly you will also miss out on the joy of success.

My friend, it's up to you - your future is shaped by such decisions.

3 months you are giving up.... no comment here.

Why don't you join Wealthy affiliates or any kind of community? Warrior forum is a good place, ** "but you must ask the right question!"

    For example:

    1. Did you track your result? You should ask: Why after 40 articles I only get 10 visitors a day? How to increase my visitors?

    2. Why nobody click-through my article to my website?

    3. Why after 100 visitors I still don't make a dam sales...!

    4. How long does it takes to be successful? anyone care to share?

Ask all the Warriors! I am sure everyone is having some level of success, and group learning will greatly cut down your effort to make money online!

Another Newbie problem...don't sell make money online product if you are not making money...! Who gonna trust you?

Do extensive keyword research to find more keywords for your articles, use articles or web 2.0 site to drive traffic to your site.... leverage the power of "long tail keyword"!

I have a book cover this topic, you may want to have a look.

I'm 23 and I've been on my grind since I was 19. I had times where I didnt see any profit and there was also a time where I lost all my profit.

None of this would've happened if I gave up... I tell people that with passion and determination, there's NO WAY they can't make it. Of course they might fail here and there, but that's just the stepping stone to success.

I must second what everyone else has said: 3 months is a small amount of time -- certainly not enough time to say you gave it a fair shot in any sense of the word.

              HOWEVER....

I think everyone here is being a bit harsh. They're right, but it's still harsh.

We've all been in a place where we haven't made any money and it's SO discouraging. That first sale is THRILLING -- even if it's just $20 or $30, it can motivate us for the next 6 - 12 months or more. I'd think everyone here would be a bit more compassionate and offer more constructive criticism and advice for making that first $.

I haven't dabbled in the affiliate marketing game at all, but it seems to me that that would be one of the quickest, easiest ways to make some money. Wealthy Affiliate has been suggested. I've never been a member there so I can't comment on it from personal experience, but Ryan Moran just happens to be running a FREE WSO for affiliate marketing training.

I rarely go to the WSO forum, but that one just caught my eye. I just joined and it seems very high quality and on the up and up. I'd recommend that to help you get started. You can find it here:

              http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...four-days.html

Put up a blog, search through ClickBank for basketball-related products and start marketing them via your blog. (And do a search on Google.) If you're really passionate about it, it shouldn't be hard to write about it. When you're just starting out, it can seem overwhelming. Information overload... You're not sure if you're doing it right... Etc. So utilize the training Ryan is offering to help you through. He even has his own forum for his affiliate training members.

However, I'd caution you on a couple of things. (Ok, three things):

              1. Do NOT quit! If you quit, then you really do lose. Period.
              2. Commit to doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes.
              3. FOCUS! You must focus to be successful.

You like basketball. So find basketball-related affiliate programs and promote them! Use the free training Ryan is offering. When you run into snags or have questions, post your questions on Ryan's forum -- or this forum. There are lots of people here to help you out.

              Good luck!

So after I have done a little bit of thinking and decided to give it a break over the weekend I realized I dont want to just quit. I love the competition involved with marketing online. I love being able to see that the harder you work the more results you see. But I have a few questions for you all.

            1. Everyone is telling me that there is no may to work in the "IM" niche if I dont know how to make money myself. So should I just leave my site I have been working on for 3 months and let it go?

            2. I am going to start to work on a basketball site. But I do not know what would be a better idea. Should i make it a blog type of deal or should I just do an informational page teaching people either about how to play basketball or teaching them about the different teams there are?

            3. I just wanted to thank EVERYONE for giving me the response you have. I have been strongly moved by everyone to continue on this journey and tough it out. Thank you everyone

I'll give my analogy again of the overweight person selling diet pills. Would you buy a diet plan from a 500lb overweight person that can't lose weight theirself?

You might be saying, "People don't know I've never made it online." Sure they do. The way you write. Look at your salescopy. You MUST identify with your audience. If you can't give them a decent story of you being in their shoes and making it big, then they won't buy from you.

If you've never made it big online, then how can you pitch them a success story and a package? I mean if you can't make money off the ideas you are selling them, then aren't you selling them a crap product, therefore, ripping them off?

Please go back to one of my first posts. I have given you a small blueprint. This includes information, setting up a mailing list to capture your audience, etc. I highly advise the book, Multiple Streams of Internet Income by Robert G. Allen. Some of the websites are out of date, but the concepts are really good.

I also suggest reading free ebooks such as Make Your Site Sell by Ken Evoy. Furthermore, if you want an all-in-one package (mailing list, autoresponder, membership script, ad tracker, etc), then sign up for the hosting at Ultimate Marketing Center You pay $19.95/mo for hosting and all those scripts. You would normally pay that much just for an autoresponder.

When I was trying to decide what I was going to do online, I suffered very badly from information overload. After a few months, it got to be too much, which turned out to be a good thing because it helped me to focus on what I really wanted to do. It sort of rose to the top and through all the mind clutter. It was very frustrating at the time though. I felt like I must be doing something wrong because all the sales pages said that I would make a ton of money, practically in minutes. Not only that, their programs were all automated. Easy, peasy.

It's not quite the way that some of them advertise it is. That's what I like about hanging around the WF, everyone's honest and no one will make ridiculous claims. Working from home is self-employment - a business. Businesses typically take time and effort before they're operating in the black. It's just the building up time it needs to get going well, whether we like it or not.

So don't give up, you'll find your way. Good luck.

          Hi azgold,

Suffered the same thing while trying to learn how to make money online. I fall for one of those data entry from home jobs. The salespage said that you only have to type advertisements for online companies and they will pay between $25 to $75 per ad.

But they never state anything about the ad must lead the visitor into making a purchase and then you will get paid a commission.

Thats the part where I burned a big hole in my pocket with Google Adwords.

But the good thing is now I'm stayng focus and just take action!

I'm lucky, the only money that I invested was Steve Wagenheim's, Secret Articles, which was worth every penny, especially for someone as green behind the ears as I was.

You're so right about focus and action. Nothing else happens without those things.

Selling is an art. Many people re very talented sellers; others have to learn the skills. Nothing bad or good there; just is....:fact of life.

Advice: before selling something of your own, sell other people's stuff, to make sure you know the ins and outs of selling. You could have the best product in the world, but lack good, solid selling articles, webpages, etc.

Also if you are trying to run a business, get professional, free help for starters form the SBA.gov site. Loads of free online courses and more there. This article has loads of ideas and will take you to them afterwards:

I think you just got yourself some negative motivation there! That statement would be enough to make me stick at it and prove myself.

The more you try the more you know what does and doesn't work! People don't say test and tweak for no reason.

Keep at it, you'll get there!

I know how you feel. You want fast money, fast riches. Believe me, Iv'e been trying to crack the code for over 7 years! You can live life off the net, but you have to build it as a real business because that's what it is.

If you need cash in a hurry, IM won't help you. If your willing to spend 6 months building a business around a focused niche ( at least 100,000 ) searches per month) then you'll have a better shot. The key is not to give up..ever!

Hey...I am a newbie also. I am in a similar spot as you. I have about 30 articles posted now and I have been working on this for about 45 days. I have made about $1.30 so far. Sure, it ain't much, but I'm not going to give up so easily.

All of the Warriors can give you all the advice in the world, but if you don't change your attitude, you aren't going to get anywhere.

Ask yourself this question. Are you the type of person that gets bored quickly, or do you stick with things? Do you play video games, and if so, do you play them until you beat the game, or do you just get bored when it gets tough and walk away?

I know that sounds silly, but that is how I realized I might be a great entrepreneur. A few months ago, I started playing Simcity for the old Super Nintendo again. When I was younger, my goal was to build a city with 500,000 citizens. It always got tough when I got above 150,000 citizens, and I would get bored and quit playing. Last Christmas, I bought a Nintendo Wii and downloaded Simcity on the Virtual Console. I was determined to build a city of 500,000 citizens without using any cheat codes. It took a few months, but I finally did it! This time, I didn't give up until I achieved my goal. After I reached my goal, I thought to myself, if I can do this with a stupid videogame, I can do this with a real business!

So, I decided I was going to learn how to make money on the internet. I joined this forum, read a few ebooks and bought a book from the store, and then I started working on it. I am still working on it. I realize it might take a while, but eventually someday I am going to make a living from this.

My point to this whole long-winded story is that you need to ask yourself if you really have the drive to stick this out to make money on the internet. If you do, then don't quit. If you're not sure, then maybe you need to do something else. Maybe you just need to take a break for a while and come back later.

Do you have a job? Are you relying on this to make a living? If the answer to these questions is no and yes, then I suggest you get a real job and do this on the side until you start making some significant money online. That is what I am doing. I have a new real job, and I do this on the side. I'm not relying on my internet marketing to pay my bills right now. When I find something that makes me income, and I know I can turn that income into a much larger income, then I will go into this full time.

    Hi,

    Don't give up.

I started in late July 2008... so that's around 3 months as well.

I had absolutely ZERO experience with internet marketing prior
but I'm still learning at every opportunity I've got.

I've had *some* results but it's nothing fantastic. The thing I
think I did right was to find a mentor to keep me on track...
even if the mentor isn't 100% willing to train me... all he did was
    to keep me on track.

Set a goal --> Take Action --> You get results --> Review, redo

Until you get the goal that you want

    Hope that helped.

Mind you that immediately you stop pushing then you start crashing. why not push harder.

Infact check the program you re promoting very well it could be the cause of the problem.
But if the program is ok then turn to the elders in the program for instructions.

In that, I do not see that you have a squeeze page. You need to have this if you want to make money online with your own product.

The squeeze page is for giving free stuff to have their name and e-mail adress. You need this to build your list. After you can use that list to send new offer to them, it is really powerfull.

Also you can use PPC. You will have instant traffic.

    Hope it help.

You've learned some skills, now you've got to perfect them. Look at your lenses and sales pages with an buyer's eye. Are you pushing hot buttons or are you just pushing your product.
And hey, if it takes you a year to learn how to do this, won't you be better off a year from now? I mean, where else is the sky for profits so high?

Everyone has the same desire to succeed. In any sort of marketing we rank our success on feedback. Sales, optins and testimonials are only a part of it. I bet you didn't learn the ins and outs of basketball overnight.

I don't know what made you decide on online marketing, but you may find just participating in this type of forum will help you devise a business plan that is more focused.

Most people that ask me about "Make Money At Home" type businesses are wanting to sell the "Online Marketing" or related products because that's what they see on late night infomercials as well as what fills many people's inbox with spam.

They have this preconceived misconception that they can market a money-making program and get rich quick. This is especially so with the economy. However, what they fail to realize is that if they don't know online marketing their self, how can they expect to properly market their product or service "online?"

Wow, so many people knocking the guy...geez. He is just frustrated. It happens, which I think most of you would all know already.

My advice would be stick it out, but you really need to step back and take a look at what you have done and what you have not done. You need a solid plan or outline to follow and you need to follow it all the way through. Right now your trying things, you want to move from "trying" things to "doing" things. Follow through on the whole process of whatever it is your trying to do.

Again it's really clear you are shooting from the hip, winging things as you go along by what you read on forums or in various ebooks. Pick something and just focus learning all about that one subject preferably from just 1 or 2 people..

Also I'd say after you find the 1 or 2 people you wish to learn from. Stick with them and AVOID this forum, along with most other forums. These places can be huge time wasters and put alot of crap in your head that is just not true. Don't get me wrong, there is gold in these forums, buried under mountains of cow poop...

    Keep your head up!

No one is "knocking" him. People are just stating the facts. First and foremost, he had decided to sell information about something he had not much experience in. For example, would you consider it good business advice to buy a weight loss system from a 500lb overweight person that cannot lose weight their self? This is basically what happened. He was trying to sell a system on how to make money online yet he had never even done this kind of work. In all, that is setting one's self up for failure.

It is one thing to get frustrated and fail but then to get frustrated about something that was doomed to fail in the first place is another. I rank this up there with people signing up for these "wholesale" accounts. So many times I see them moan and groan about not being able to make lots of money and how the company is really not "wholesale" and how no one can make money with the company.

The truth? They saw the dollar signs. They saw people on the Internet selling electronics and figured they would hop on the money train. The company they went through may or may not have had the best prices in the world. However, a few of these companies have decent prices that you CAN use the make a living. The problem is that NONE (not a single one) of these "wholesale" companies are going to give you any sort of a competitive edge in the electronic/computer industry.

The only way I know of is at the very least purchase some electronics or computers in bulk and sell them like that. That is, actually buy wholesale and not join in to some "wholesale club." In one of those clubs, the most you will usually get is a 30% discount off of retail. Included for a small price (couple bucks per order) would be a dropshipping fee.

Looks to me like you're giving up too fast! 40 articles isn't going to give you traffic that is going to set the world on fire especially if those articles aren't that interesting. Think out your plan some and incorporate more marketing techniques into it! Make sure you are marketing your business everyday using free advertising and do some kind of paid advertising every single week. You can't just want to do your business when it's doing well! You've got to learn how to troubleshoot when it's slow also. Keep trying!

I know nothing about basketball but 2 years ago I took a template about basketball that was offered in a templatemembership.
Found a sportwebsite that had an affiliateprogram and had basketball products. Added the Shoes, balls and baskets with pictures and links and description.

Took me 2 days to setup and at most 3 days of promoting it to local startpages, basketball clubs and sportsites/directories to build links. Those 5 days 2 years back still earn me at least $200 a month...

Figure what you can do whith your knowledge. All i did was take the description of the merchant. You could do reviews in depth advice etcetc all promoting basketball products....

But like the rest are saying...it seems like you set yourself up for failure by going for "fast money only please"

I think the difference maker in determining whether a person will be successful is persistence till the end.

I always believe in the positive attitude to learn and to get feedback from others.

It is ok to admit what we are doing is not working well. What really matters is to ask feedback (or help) from others who have walked the IM journey before.

Next is to take actions and to get feedback and to find tune your strategies.

Do not stop! Do not give up!

    Just keep moving on.

Quitting IM is like quitting cigarettes, go ahead and quit- give yourself a few days and you'll be back.

I think what you need is some structure. Joining a membership site and getting a mentor were the best things I did. That way you will know what to do next. You ar not as info-overloaded as when you are trying to figure it all out on you own.

In my opinion, you won't get very far in life quitting so soon. It took me more than 6 frustrated months to make money online. What helped me was that I found a mentor who was able to help me get focused and started on the right path.

It seems like you are everywhere. You really don't know what you want to do. Trust me, I've been there before so I know exactly how you feel.

Whatever you do, even if you only work on your IM business in your spare time; don't give up. The rewards are more than worth the effort.

    Hi

It's not an easy trek, that's for sure. I've been online a little over two months, have been chewed up and spit out by most of the gurus, taking my money along the way, of course. After finding PIPS it has turned around somewhat. I've written and published two Articles so far, posted several Lenses, started a Twitter following and have been trying to keep my blog updated. Following all these Gurus got me in a mess, I have 5 domains and 3 hosts sitting in limbo. I got the majority of my money drained by identity theft right after losing my very lucrative job, but learned some very valuable, albiet very expensive lessons.

I've been concentrating on PIPS and am seeing some differences and believe it or not even made a little money last week, so hang in there. I've been doing everything and anything I can do without using much money for reasons stated above. All I can say is, if I can do it, anybody can. Hang in there.

Heck, I've been struggling for a week, just to get my stupid squeeze pages to function correctly.

    Thanks
    Denny

    Hey there
    ,

Don't give up yet, it has only been three months. I've been trying to make money online for one year now. I've made a few sales but still looking for the big jackpot.

In the one year since I have learned so much about what it takes to make money online. The key is to follow a system of someone who has been successful before.

That was my mistake. I tried to do everything on my own. And for yourself, being here on the warrior forum is a very good place to be. Just keep doing what you're doing and soon enough you'll start seeing success. Nothing is interesting, especially making money.

I knew someone that started his own pharmacy 26 years ago. Do you know how many prescriptions he filled on his first day? It was six. 26 years later he is doing over 450 prescriptions per day.

    Just keep at it okay?

    Jeff

This will probably echo what a lot of other people said, but I want to throw my two cents in.

1.) A business on the internet is just like a business offline. It is still a business. You have to treat it like an offline business at first. If a woman opens up a store, she's going to be working long hours for the first 3-6 months (possibly longer) until it becomes stable. When enough money is being made, she might want to hire someone to help with the labor so she can gave some free time for herself. If that works out and more money is being made, she might want to hire a manager, someone to watch over the place. Then, if more money is made, she may want to hire a marketing expert to do run the advertisements for her. When she first started out, she did all of these things herself. But after a while, she could have her business run on "autopilot" if she was making enough money.

Having a business online is the same thing. Until you are making enough money to pay for other people to do the work for you, you have to do the work yourself. Being on the internet doesn't change how the world works.

2.) (This has already been said) You have to start a business in a niche that you are interested in yourself, unless you are a marketing genius who could sell anything to anybody. You also have to have a success story yourself if you are going in the "how to" niche. If you have never earned money online, then you can not teach others how to earn money online (unless you are a natural marketer.) If you are really good at basketball and like it, then try that. There are people in this world who suck at basketball (me), and when I was a teenager I would have loved to go online and find a tutorial on how to better my game, for a variety of reasons. There are those who want to learn to impress girls, to become popular, because they love the game, etc. Expand your thinking and see all of the possibilities out there.

3.) LOCATION. For me, personally, this is HUGE. If you are working from home, then maybe you should invest in a laptop and take your work elsewhere. In my case, home has always been a place of leisure and relaxation. I would go to school at 7AM and return at 10PM sometimes, and home was my place to rest and have some fun. I can't get out of that psychological state, so I never get much work done from home. I have to take it to a local library, or the university library to get any work done. I'm not into the "work from home" genre. I would never want to work at home. It would ruin the fun I have. A change of location could make a huge difference if you are feeling stuck. Also, staying at home for too long can make a person feel like a bum, EVEN if they are working their butts off. Isolation from the outside world can also stifle the desire to grow one's business.

4.) I don't blame you for wanting to earn money online. It is one of the most intelligent things to do in these days, in my view. For most people, even working a 9-5 is not enough to pay their bills on time, and that goes for both those who spend their money wisely and those who don't. To some people in this industry, this is fun for them. They love what they're doing and they're earning money while doing it. To others, it feels like work for them, because it IS work for them. But they do it anyway, because they want to earn a living for themselves and/or for their families. So, if you are trying the "online business" thing because you're afraid of a job (and I sympathize with that sentiment), you may have to entertain the notion that having a business online can feel just as much of a "job" as an "actual" job. The only difference is that you can increase your pay through an online business, or decrease your pay. That is the risk of owning any business, whether online or offline.

5.) I'm not going to say to you, "don't quit." That's not my place. You can do what you want with your life, but I would suggest to you that you keep your mind open to different possibilities to earn money. An online business is not the only way to make money, and if you hate what you are doing, then maybe you can perfect a craft that you really DO enjoy, and earn money through THAT skill. That way you would be doing what you love, AND earning money. And if you tried that for a while, and came back to the online business world with a new outlook, you might even make some money by doing that too. :-)

Hey man, I've been in your shoes before believe me...
Not making any money brings down your moral big time especially if your working really hard on your online business and you don't see any results out of it.

I've passed through that phase and I can honestly say I could of given up so easily and just go work a regular 9 to 5 like everybody else... But I refused to give up and I always told myself that the day I make it I would make all the people that every told me "I'll never make it" eat all their words right back in their mouth. (Best feeling in the world)...

So this is my advice to you don't give up man, look at everyone around you making money... do you really think these people are really smarter then you... not really they're just working hard and NOT GIVING UP! I really hope these words encourage and motivate you to get right back up.

    Best Regards,

Thanks man I really appreciate it. I am pretty sick of everyone being so negative and acting like I am crazy to think about trying to get a 9 to 5. But I am going to try to stick this thing out. Thanks for the words.

If you give up man then you will never make it. Its your choice, if you give up you fail. I know how hard it can be to make money online, and im not at the level I want to be.

But I can tell you that I make more than I would working at somewhere like Burger King and its only coming from 1 site....and I have not touched that site in a year! Im having trouble figuring out exactly how to replicate these results but my point is it can be done and once its done its a heck of alot better than working! Just keep at it and target products that are already selling and you will eventually start figuring things out. Good luck

You're having trouble replicating it? Where's your traffic coming from? Look at your stats on your server to see where referrals are coming from. If advertising use a ad tracking system. If not your own then use a free one like clickaudit.com.

Knowing where your traffic is coming from is one of the most important things to know about your site.

Gatorjack, the problem is the keyword research tools are not that great. I ranked for some good keywords in one niche but have done the same with countless keywords without the same success.

Wordtracker said these keywords had around 10 uniques per day, I ranked for around 5 of them on the first page of Google. Each one of them brings me 10-20 uniques per day. Sure its not much, but that brings me around 100 unique quality visitors per day that convert.

So I thought wow...I will do this in other niches. I have ranked on the first page of Google for keyword terms that supposedly get 1000 uniques per day that only bring me 10 uniques per day. I don't know but wordtracker really is so inaccurate on some many keywords that its hard to replicate my results for this one reason.

Thats my only struggle, perhaps I should start looking at the SEO book keyword tool because im about done with wordtracker. I know everyone says check the keyword with all of the keyword research tools, guess I need to start doing that.

That's why in an earlier post I had mentioned the use of a thesaurus. I have tested out a couple keyword tools. Each giving varying results. I prefer the use of a thesaurus to help give ideas on keywords to use.
