What is your unsubscribe rate for your autoresponder messages?

I just noticed that 30% of my subscribers eventually un-subscribe.

That kind of surprised me -- I would have guessed it was lower.

Curious what the unsuscribe rate is for others in this forum.

Let me know your thoughts . . .

That does seem very high - what could the reason be for that?

I'd say mine is around the 5% mark.

Good question. Part of it could be the market I'm in, which is rather no-nonsense, no-B.S. oriented and likely to bail when they see sales messages.

Another factor could be that the list is several years old and some subscribers opt out because they change careers and aren't interested in the topic anymore.

But you ask a good question and it has got me to thinking about how to retain a higher percentage.

I think one thing I'd like to do is stop offering a series of reports that has an "end" to them. Once that series ends, maybe they feel, well, that's that and I've gotten all I have to get from this guy.

Whereas if I leave it open-ended and always hint at more good content to come, then less people will unsubscribe and I'll be able to put more occasional sales offers in front of them.
