Info Product creation - Help

I've really been inspired by this thread.

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...n-product.html

So now i've made up my mind to start creating my own info product.

I'm currently researching a niche that seems ok so far but it's a visual type of topic like photography or cake making or landscape gardening.

I'm just thinking how would I create/make this kind of product without loads of pictures or videos that actually show how to do it?

could i pull it off just by wording what to do with just a few loosly related images?

How do you guys get around this.

With the cake making niche you could always try and make them yourself, (might cost a bit lol) alternatively find somebody that's in to cake making. This way you will produce a much better product I think because you will have seen them and tasted them. If this isn't feasible, find another niche. Personally, I would look to create a product around a niche you're comfortably in and have some solid knowledge about.

    • Why do you start with a niche you're actually familiar/passionate about? I mean, think about it for a second: this is your first product, right? why would you start with something you know nothing about?

Do some research on article sites...

Find 10-20 articles, contact the article writers for permission...
Then compile all the articles into one report.

Call it "The [insert topic] Secrets from [insert number of articles]
[insert topic] Experts ... that get you [insert big benefits] ...

Build a squeeze page and give it away for free ... or whatever ...
untill you develop your product ... you can also survey your prospects

and ask them what they want, and what they're interested in.

Then you can build out from there,

      just one idea,

    Hi there,
I am just back in here after a long time out. But thought I would start by adding a comment here for you. To me it would seem that the best way with the topic of Photography or Cake making. Is to do a How to Video or Power Point Presentation.
I hope this will in some way be of a help. At least it is a start for your thread.

    Kevan...

Well I have been doing PC repairs for clients as well as friends and family for more than 10 years now but i find that stuff pretty boring now and besides theres not much money in PC repair guides as theres so much free info out there so I would prefer trying something completely new as a challenge.

Believe it or not, a closely related niche (computer viruses/troubleshooting/speeding up slow computers) is still a pretty popular niche. You could also provide backend services such as remote computer log in for personal tutorials, troubleshooting, etc. Don't overlook it just because it's been around for a long time!

Any products you create MUST be of good quality or you will find your buyers requesting refunds. Cutting corners just to make it easier for you won't give your buyers the "best" you can produce.

If what it takes to carry your reader through the entire process is a series of photos, or a series of videos, then you need those photos or videos. Product creators who find they need to "get around this" are trying to take shortcuts, and it's the shoddy products that help give infomarketing a bad name.

Your products must take readers from point A, to point B, C,D,E,F,G...etc. without missing a beat.

Unless I had access to the visual resources needed for the product I wouldn't do it. A photography book with only loosely related photos would probably bomb and you could find yourself with too many requests for refunds.

The fact that you are facing such a big problem with your idea at this early stage suggests it's probably not the one to go for. You need something very do-able, especially on your first product.

No, don't go by this "start a niche what you are passionate about". If its not profitable, then you are just wasting your time.

Research first how big is your niche and how profitable. You can't say "it looks ok". It needs to be OK. If you are doing it only because idea looks good, then you will find it hard to sell.

Search in forums also, see your niche most common problems. If there isn't any, or forums are not active...then this is first sign that niche is not worth it. It's hard to sell if you don't know what they want.

Good advice, go with a niche that you have evidence products are sellling in.

Why would you try to make a niche product on a visual topic without visual aids?

I think your starting point needs to be 'what solutions am I giving my buyer with this product' and the more solutions you can give the better.

If you're focussing solely on making a quick buck by putting together a product that a) you have no real interest in or b) you just want to get it out there and make as much money in as short a time possible then this will be evident to the buyer and you may find a lot of requests for 'money back'.

You have been given some good advice here in the forum and I would suggest you take that on board then proceed.

    Good luck with your product.

Great to hear you have made the decision to create your own info products - you won't be sorry, from my perspective having run several businesses it is one of the easiest and longest term opportunities on the net.

You don't mention WHY your niche is a visual one...for instance - there are books that are purely picture books, they don't really meet any urgent or passionate desire to be, have or do something -- I would advise staying away from those.

On the other hand, there are niches where the object is to build, develop or grow something (construction, home improvement, crafts, etc...) that would benefit from visual aids...

For such niches I would construct a home study course, training program or other advanced info product where you use video (either Powerpoint video with graphics taken from a combination of royalty free stock sites and your own pictures) or live video where you can show them actual work going on (Ex. finishing a basement)

These can be packaged as a private access site (membership site), downloadable videos or packaged on a DVD for mail fulfillment.

      Cheers,

      Jeff

If you're going to create a product about something you know nothing about and don't want to use pictures, then it seems to me if the topics you are looking at require visual aids then you should find a different topic.

Otherwise, it's sort like: How to Perform Heart Surgery

    - without any pictures
    - without any expertise

    - without any hope of making a dime unless you approach this from an angle other than as someone trying to teach someone else
