Will Netflix doom you?

Not a rosy outlook for somebody. Netflix uses up to 90% of Canadian bandwidth in the evenings, and 20% of US bandwidth in the evenings ... and they've just started!

Who do you reckon will hit the wall first?

An article by somebody who understands how the internet really works on the technical side would have been better...such as an article from a tech news site rather than MSN's money site.

There's a difference between traffic and bandwidth. In the article he says 90% of traffic, in the sub-title he says 90% of bandwidth.

    Which is it?

I thought the same thing while reading that article. I'm definitely part of that statistic though. I'm watching netflix right now, as I write this. Really wish we Canadians has the same selection as the US though...

This doesn't sound like a problem with Netflix, but a problem with the Canadian ISP's - most likely overselling the bandwidth.

Netflix sucks. In Canada anyway. Old movies nobody has heard of. Browsing through it is a pain. No thanks, I'll watch movies on the internet through other avenues.

I read that article a few weeks back but in the version i read there was no mention of "traffic" only bandwidth...

As for netflicks I hear Canada's selection absolutely sucks but yet the Americans are all enraged because we get all the seasons of Mad Men and they don't LOL

Netflicks I get... but something like 3% of Twitters servers are JUST dedicated to Justin Biebers twitter account, no joke

Then you are obviously not a pre-pubescent female.

Which it seems, an inordinately large number of Twitter users are.

Agreed. It's a pretty weak selection.

Before it was introduced here in Canada, my friends from the USA used to tell me about the benefits/features, including a great selection of movies. So far, the Canadian version is disappointing.

Boxee will start shipping in a week. It has a lot of the internet movie services, including netflix and Vudu. I much prefer Vudu. It has a lot more HD movies to choose from. But Boxee will have both of those. Can't wait to get it.
