What can you do with 1 letter and 2 digits domain names?

What can you do with 1 letter and 2 digits domain names? Something like : a61.com? No matter what combination I tried, it was taken and parked. The question is : who (other than me ) would try a61.com? If the domain's name is too criptic, who will visit it? Even more puzzling for me, not only the .com was taken for some combinations, but also the .info, .net, .org.

Some use tham as URL redirect or to shorten the URL links.

its called 3-character names or NLL, LLN, LNL and NLN - depending on sound and numbers it can be valuable like M88.com for Mobile 88 (chinese lucky number is 8).

As for the who will visit question that is up to you. Add content and see who knocks.

The shorter the domain name the more desirable they are, what tends to happen is even for random letters you will find a company willing to take a .com somewhere, like qvz.com. (which still gets 1300 exact searches)

There are only 999 alphabet combinations, 999 numerical combinations and about 46,656 combinations that combine the two along with a hyphen so the ones with better letters tend to get taken fairly quickly.

Better letters tend to be those that aren't q, z, x, v, j and k because these can be a pain to find homes for though not completely impossible.

It is all of course subjective, you are not likely to find a 3 letter or number .com on the cheap at all...

All domain names have some meaning to the companies that own them, regardless of how useless they are and for that reason they will also have meaning for people searching for them.

    • Glad someone asked this question, I always wondered this as well, of what use are these short domains but couldn't think of anything than a URL shortener service, lol!
      Thanks for your explanations
