as I see this problem being talked about a lot over here and because I think this IS the most important step to succeed in any way in your life I'd like to share my personal way of how I get things done everyday -
I've started using a system like this when I was young and a nobody and still use it but way more effective today being a multimillionaire and having some multiple businesses running, so to speak: I have a lot of stuff to handle and still have fun

1.) Wake up EARLY - put this rule as your number one rule. If you are selfemployed and you're not running a nightclub or any kind of night business then WAKING UP EARLY is the most important rule.

If you fail to wake up early EVERY DAY you will fail with mostly anything else in your life, as hard as it sounds, but that's the truth.

2.) Working does NOT mean having any kind of success - after you wake up take a white sheet on what's going on on this particular day in your life. Note 3 really important things you need to handle.

If all 3 things are NOT directly related to making money you WILL stay broke in your life!

Bad example for your to-do list:
    - finishing my website (so what?)
    - writing the first chapters of my pdf report (first chapters are not the WHOLE report)
    - planing the next 3 month what I will do (you shouldn't do this in your work time, but in your spare time if you have time to relax)

    WORK TIME = MONEYMAKING TIME

Good example for your to-do list:

    - Writing my complete PDF report, creating my WSO from a to z and mailing my complete list of people to view it
    - calling up at least 30 businesses and offering my offline marketing stuff
    - the last 2 hours of this day I'll visit at least 5 offline business in my area

Everything in this list is tied to making money AND FINISHING things!

Another tip: Don't EVER write tasks on your list like "starting the first 2 chapters of my book" or "creating the graphics of my homepage" - if you can't handle it all until it's finished on this day YOU HAVE TO MUCH CRAP ON YOUR LIST.

3.) You think in terms of working and not making money.

    Again: Worktime = Moneymaking time.

Ask yourself: Is everything that I do ABSOLUTELY tied to making money? Or is it just stuff to feed my dreams of getting started and making big money one day?

Be honest to yourself with this!

    4.) Measuring everything

    Big time importance here.

First: Every task you do MUST be tied to a time you will use to get this done.
Second: Get a time measuring tool like FocusBooster or just this one LOL http://www.source-werbeartikel.com/p...GIV6214-02.jpg

    5.) Work your fears

You buy 575 ebooks every month and everyone of them has some things you don't like doing? Like calling prospects? Or you do some things and realize you hate doing them everyday? Guess what, that's what making money is all about.

You have to become BEST at things 99,99% of all people are afraid of or give up.

    Scared money makes no money.

6.) Be prepared for your brain freaking out

Nobody is a machine and so 1000 thoughts run through your head and you have millions of ideas everyday. And of course Facebook needs to be checked, and oh, you forgot to call your mother.

Note that: It doesn't mean that you need to do everything that your brain comes up with. But fighting against won't be wise too since one time you will have so much stress that you forget to ignore everything and call your mother back, and then check Facebook and oops, you do something completely wrong than calling up prospects.

Solution: Always have a notepad with you and note anything that comes into your head etc. Note this stuff but DON'T do it when you are committed in your working time to make money.

7.) Look in the mirror at the end of the day

After your day is over look in the mirror and take a resumee. Did you really do ANYTHING possible to make money this day? Or was it another day filled with your emotions of how much of a looser you are or downloading 100s of ebooks and chatting?

Did you waste another 20 hours of starting 10 ebooks with 2 chapters but didn't finish anything? Do you run around with any dreams of getting rich BUT acting like a child, all looking for people to tell you about their secrets and magic bullets?

How many time and days do you waste because you don't work your fears?

Be honest at the end of the day, the more honest you are to yourself the more success you will have. And the most you understand that making money is ALL about working your fears.

8.) Making money is about doing things that are tied to making money, making BIG money is about repeating this things again and again.

Like it or not, if you want to make a lot of money you need to accept the fact that it's not enough to do the things that are tied to making money once, but DAILY.

    Repeat,

    repeat,

    repeat!

To me it's really not more than this when it comes to the reason why I'm so focused for over 20 years, REALLY.

Oh, a small thing to add: It can help you that between your moneymaking tasks you can have 5-10 minute tasks where you work out for example. That mixes your head and shakes you awake.

    Enjoy

Great advice, TK. Many of us already know this, but knowing and doing are two completely different things, and it's nice to be reminded of this from time to time.

I truly believe that repetition is the mother of all skill and excellence, and repeated exposure to the right teachings will only serve to make us better in every aspect.

That is not enough, though. It has to be followed up by repetitive action in the areas that we want to excel in, and that is the real key to continual excellence, whether it is in sports, IM, or any other area in life!

Always follow your posts here, Paul and always like em, you know what you're doing it seems

      It's easy basically.

The mother of all good and bad is how HONEST you are to yourself.

I coached one friend of mine into success for over 5 years since I liked her (and she looks HOT lol) and you don't believe it but this was the starting year problems with her:

In her work time she started making plans for next weeks.

I said, work time= money time, so stop planing next week in business time where you should earn money.

By the way she's doing eventmanagement and organizes events etc. And she had some events and needed to handle all her guests and had lists of thousands of people in her city to call up and invite to her event.

When she came in her office sometimes the first 2 hours she planed her day. I said 'STOP THAT'. You need to wake up 1 hour early and plan your time when everybody's asleep.

When your prospects are awake it means you can call them and they can pay you.

You know what, after month of struggeling (I almost killed her lol) she started to have 500,600 bucks days where she couldn't believe it.

      And why?

All because she understood: Wake up early, do ONLY what's tied to making your business money, work your fears and repeat, repeat, repeat.

It's not that hard, but most of us just can't accept the fact that you have to do some things that you don't like doing.

But this is the way into success with anything.

      Excellent list.

The only place I would differ with you is #1, and then only partially.

If your business relies on contacting people, then I totally agree that your planning time should be when the people you need to contact are not available.

If your business relies on creativity, such as producing information products, I believe it's better to work around your natural rhythms.

Most people have one or two periods per day when they are at their best as far as focusing on creative work. They have another period or two where they can effectively do the more mechanical tasks.

The twist on your #1 would be to use creative time for creating, use less creative time for mechanics. Have the discipline to know which is which and stick to it.

Which does agree with your statement that doing work is not equal to making money...

I forgot to mention that printing out your own rules is a nice advise, too - yup I have my rules above my monitor, too :-)

TK, I haven't read that one yet, but I have read a lot of similar ones. As I understood them, the idea behind waking up early was really about putting in more hours than those you're competing with.

Waking up early works for those who advocate it. And I'm not disagreeing that putting in more productive work time than your competition is a serious advantage.

Some people are just wired differently. Their circadian rhythm is out of sync with 'normal' people. They may get up at noon and work until 3 AM. I met one multimillionaire on a cruise ship that described himself as a vampire - his most productive time was between sunset and sunrise.

I've also read studies that showed that many peoples' brain activity follows something resembling a sine wave. The upper peaks were the times they could best do creative tasks, such as writing, composing music, etc. The lowest points were more suited to doing mechanical things like paying bills. Or, in the specific case of IM type activities, things like submitting articles or reviewing blog comments.

I'm not disrespecting the idea of waking up early. I'm just saying to be aware of the times when the individual functions best and use those times for the important stuff; save the grunt work for the less effective time periods.

You and I both know that there's more to it than simply setting an alarm so as to beat the rooster...
