how do you split-test posts on front-page of WP?

hey there,

quick one for the testing-fraternity:

I'd like to split test the performance of a post which is stuck
(using WP-sticky) to the front-page of my blog?

My problem: Google Website Optimizer requires the URLs
of the control, the test and the conversion page.

The control is supposed to be the home-page with post X
at the top and the test the home-page with post Y at the top.

I do NOT want to send people either to the home-page with post X
at the top or the blog-post Y on it's own 'post'-page (which
doesn't have the other posts on the front-page below it)

in a way (I think) I need to get GWO to trigger when Wordpress
pulls up a blog-post to display on the home-page, rather than
purely on the URL (which is the standard for GWO)

any thoughts, recommendations for a plugin?

thanks

Veit

Have you tried using Google Website Optimizer with the
multivariate set-up rather than a simple a/b test?

That way, you can give the same URL for the control
and the test page and let Google Website Optimizer
dynamically insert your A and B post variations.

    e.g. example.com/post-name/index.php

Then set your Front Page in WordPress to display Your
    Latest Post.

(Assuming that the WordPress installation is in the root
of your domain rather than being in a sub-directory).

Then use a Google Website Optimizer plug-in such as:

    WordPress › GWO4WP « WordPress Plugins

    by Andreas Nurbo...

GWO WordPress Plugin | Andreas Nurbo

This will let you easily use Google Website Optimizer
    within WordPress.

I don't know whether this set-up will dynamically alter the
post as it appears on the home page because I've not
tested that set-up with the plugin.

I prefer to test Pages rather than Posts within WordPress
because I've got greater control of how and when they
    appear on the home page.

    Dedicated to your success,

    Shaun

There are plugins for WordPress to do split testing. I haven't tried one yet, so I can't offer specifics, but I have seen them.
