just to clarify--are the rss feeds that you turn into posts taken from other blogs? I am just confused on how that works out

I've just spent a couple of hours setting this up on a domain I bought and then didn't know what to do with. I can't believe how easy it is to do and plan on making a few more. I've only read up to page 2 so forgive me if this has been mentioned but I'm using the SEO Smart Links plugin as well. Set up the cloak using go codes and then instead of using WPOM to add the link use SEOSM. It has the advantage of being able to set nofollow - but will also add the links throughout your site - not just on future content. Useful if you hit on a new affiliate programme or keyword. Now to sit back and see if it works! |

WP-O-Matic Plugin - this is a plugin that lets you take RSS feeds and turn them into posts automatically. >> Thanks, so far I've only taken that piece of advice from your post but it works well. It took me a while to figure out how to install it -- what the hell is cronejobs, lol (for non-techies this stuff is difficult), but after Googling it I found out you access it from your Cpanel and it's not that hard. But this application does what many paid services do --adds lots of content to your blog automatically! |

As I just posted in another thread, I wish this wasn't all in a foreign language to me because this sounds ideal to me, someone who would like to be a lazy marketer who doesn't understand all this auto blogging stuff quite yet.

Just wanted to personally thank Keith and all others who have contributed to this thread. This concept works great and has made me quite a bit of money in the short period I've been involved in it. The cool thing this is that there is literally so many options you have available to you when you master the process of setting these up. |

I call it 'semi-automated' as although the posting to your blog is pretty much fully automated once you have it set up, the method I use involving Google Reader means I manually select and annotate the items that actually get posted. Tim |

I'm not sure I've set my cron job up properly. My campaigns page says NEXT! besides one of the campaigns (the others have hours to go before they're due) but it doesn't seem to be running (it's said next for about 3 hours). I'm using cpanel with gator host - can anyone give me a tip on how to get it to work. I can run them manually but would like it to be automated. Thanks |

You need to change some code in the wpomatic.php file which can be found in the wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic folder. Change line 447 to: $campaigns = $this->getCampaigns(); I found this in responce 27 on page: pixca.net/blog/code-programming/wp-o-matic-cron-job-done-but-no-campaigns-processed If it's with the setting up the cron job here's what I did: On cPanel goto Advanced section and click Cron jobs. I chose Advanced (Unix Style) button. I entered the following values in first 5 boxes: 0 2 * * * to get the command to run at 2am daily. I entered /usr/bin/curl http: //www .yoururlname.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cron.php?code=xxxxxxxx into the command box. This command is given by Wp-O-Matic - Choose settings on Worpress admin then choose Wp-O-Matic and Options. Use the code given and not xxxxxxxx. Chnage yoururlname to your actual url name. Please Note: It has spaces in the code above (http: //www .), but you should enter the command without the spaces. I had to put the spaces in because I do not have enough WarriorForum posts to post a link. I then clicked Commit Changes button on cPanel page.

I'm new to sub domains and am finding them kind of confusing! UPDATED I figured out the problem - when I pasted the code into the .htaccess it put it all on one line. I just went in and put it on two lines as it appears in this thread and it now works. Thanks

Ok so I installed the wp omatic plugin and put the code in my cron and now get the following error when I try to create a new campaign in wordpress: The following errors have been encountered: * Feeds o Feed api.moreover.com/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://api.moreover.com/RPC2) o Feed api.my.yahoo.co.jp/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://api.my.yahoo.co.jp/RPC2) o Feed api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2) o Feed audiorpc.weblogs.com/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://audiorpc.weblogs.com/RPC2) o Feed blog.goo.ne.jp/XMLRPC could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blog.goo.ne.jp/XMLRPC) o Feed blogpeople.net/ping could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blogpeople.net/ping) o Feed blogsearch.google.ae/ping/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blogsearch.google.ae/ping/RPC2) o Feed blogsearch.google.at/ping/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blogsearch.google.at/ping/RPC2) o Feed blogsearch.google.be/ping/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blogsearch.google.be/ping/RPC2) o Feed blogsearch.google.bg/ping/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://blogsearch.google.bg/ping/RPC2) o Feed feedsky.com/api/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://feedsky.com/api/RPC2) o Feed hamo-search.com/ping.php could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://hamo-search.com/ping.php) o Feed holycowdude.com/rpc/ping/ could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://holycowdude.com/rpc/ping/) o Feed rpc.technorati.jp/rpc/ping could not be parsed (SimplePie said: XML error: no element found at line 1, column 0) o Feed rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2 could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2) o Feed www.blogpeople.net/servlet/weblogUpdates could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://www.blogpeople.net/servlet/weblogUpdates) o Feed xping.pubsub.com/ping/ could not be parsed (SimplePie said: A feed could not be found at http://xping.pubsub.com/ping/) Any idea what could be wrong guys? Also are we creating a cloaked affiliate link per keyword here? I dont understand exactly what gocodes is all about. Is is strictly for cloaking your affiliate urls or to cloak the affiliate urls with keywords? Thanks |

Not sure if you realised or not, but this is actually Keiths thread about automated blogging and in his OP, that's what he talks about and how to set it up. My threads, whilst touching on WPOM, don't go into how I set that up, they are more about how to facilitate the gathering, sorting and posting of that data into feeds suitable for plugins like WPOM to use. Hope that helps. Tim

Im having the same troubles Steve. I installed WP O Matic and did all of that, did I went to Cron and did the standard installation, it said the Unix was advanced so I did not do that. It says in my WP o Matic options that im using Unix (has a check next to it) but when I add a feed url to it I get the errors I posted above. Very frustrating indeed, ive been looking for a solution on here also and have seen nothing. Im wondering if I need to install it under the Unix now even though it acts like ive already installed it under Unix. |

Wow! What a great post Keith and thanks very much for sharing this information with all of us it is very helpful, especially as I have been giving a lot of thought to starting some blogs of my own and seeing how they perform. Just one question for you, typically how long does it take you before you start seeing a trickle of results and then a large amount? Does this depend entirely on the amount of blogs you set up, or the niches you set them up in? Many thanks once again, David. |

I'm not sure why everyone in the last few posts has been going to the trouble of setting up cron jobs? In the setup for WP-O-Matic, it asks whether I want to set up a cron job and I say "no". The plugin has a built-in facility to schedule feeds. I simply tell it how often and how many posts and it does the job automatically. However, be careful not to go overboard with the number of posts. With one domain I forgot to set "how often and how many" and Hostgator suspended that domain for excessive use of resources as it automatically made 10 posts a day, every day. They readily let me back in to locate and rectify the problem. Ivan |

I want to do a little bit of linking between my blogs and I don't want to leave a footprint and I am reading Keith's post at the very beginning of this forum. Does anybody know the plugin Keith is talking about??: "Yes. Also, some of these blogs will naturally pick up a high PR just magically. I use my high PR sites and give my lower ones a backlink to pump them up. I'm worried about maybe leaving a footprint and having google think I'm a blog network (which I guess informally, I am) so I started using this other plugin, I forget the name, but it basically rotates your blogroll randomly, so it mixes things up regularly. But that's advanced. You don't need to know about that until you build your first one. "

For those of you wondering where to get the feeds from check out the post about using Google Reader. http://www.warriorforum dot com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/34350-turn-google-reader-into-semi-automated-blogging-machine-part-1-a.html I just posted the url to my feed for my niche and it finally seems to be working as it accepted the Url that I got from Google Reader. I set Wp O Matic to post every 8 hours, it says 10 post are fetched and I fetched them all at once and 10 came up! However they came up under the category section, how do I make the post create a new page with the keyword phrase targeted? |

So im still lost though, how do we add affiliate links that target keywords to each post all automatically? Also how do we make a new page for each post that targets a keyword phrase or at least a new post that targets a keyword phrase? Im guessing perhaps 3 post per day would be a safe number to do? Sorry guys, im really new into the area of RSS feeds. |

Hey Coreyt ... Im about at the same point you are with WPOM . Ive got google reader subscribed to some feeds, but Im finding I really need to pickout the "wheat from the "chaffe" as the say. For one of my blogs - I had to abandone WPOM and Im using YAAB - yet another auto blogger plug in. It works with my theme [remix2.0], but it doesnt do the keyword replacement and linking like WPOM - sighhhhh. WPOM doesnt appear to be compatible with the Remix2.0 theme. Part 1 of Tim dixons great posts indicate you pick a post from Google reader and click "share with notes" - add you unique snippet of info, then add your TAG. Ive found that my WPOM / YAAB "campaign" name I setup in the plug in interface must be the same as the TAG I assign the content/post in Google Reader [maybe this is just a coinky-dink?] My current use / need is for a "semi-automated" model to add highly relevent guru content in with my own articles - and of course my links. So I send my posts into wordpress as "Drafts" - then I go in - clean em up a bit and manually schedule them. If my blog is newsletter like - I could get 52 weeks of content done this way in a single weekend. So what I did was annotate 15 articles or so with my own thoughts and comments in Google reader - add some links in manually in wp editor while in draft mode - as YAAB doesnt do that for me [still looking for a WPOM alternative that does] and then "scheduled" them for 1 post a day for the next 15 days. This works for me - as I can take the original authors concept and elaborate on it and apply the lesson or principle to my niche. Its a spark to my creative side - which I need regularly. Some of the psots are just good and need nothing more than - geez, this is a great piece You Need to read every word of this ! Seems the current model , as illustrated in this thread - the post scheduling is based upon what ever interval WPOM fetches from google or other feed via the cron job or simulated cron job. My problem with that is if WPOM finds 14 posts in that particular feed - bam - your blog gets 14 posts in 1 crack. Is that kosher with ya'll ? Am I over analyzing that? I too want certain feeds/categories of posts to be posted to certain "PAGES" of my blog - but apparently this is not an inherent feature in WP and needs a custom plug in. I havent founfd that yet - but some ones that come close do. Let me know if you find anything in that regard! HTH, Steve |

After messing with this for 2 days, I finally got everything to working ![]() I have a couple of questions still though... The first time it pulled the feeds for the post, I pulled in 30 posts for one day! Yikes ![]() Do I control the number of posts it pulls in from the wpomatic plugin? I would rather have 2 per day, looks a little more natural. second question, the posts it pulled in were right on target, but it did not post the entire article, but only a snippet, and of course the link that says read more here, which takes them to the original page, and off of my site ![]() I would rather have the entire post on my site loaded with affiliate links versus a small snippet with only a few,(sometimes no) links. Is this controlled by the actual feed that I am using? Thanks up front for all of your help. |

Hi, Great post and you can see that we have followed your words of wisdom by implementing here: Analog Camcorders Blog Archive Panasonic PV-L352 Analog Camcorder But as you can see the hyperlinked 'camcorders' in the post is not hyperlinked in the feed itself: Analog Camcorders So, this is my question: How do you keep the links alive in the description part of the feed, as surely this is how the keyword link love gets generated? Your help is greatly appreciated and you are already my hero. Thank, Allen |

Ok its looks nice ... Does it do it AS WP-O-Matic/YAAB makes the posts or do I need to go into each post or draft and run a process on them individually? Quote:

Hi Keith, I was going to start this method but i just have a few questions. First, google or adsnese hasn't given you any problems for using only synidcated content? It seems that they could ban you for this. Second, you have not had any legal trouble from the sites you are syndicating? I know you said it is the same as google news but i believe google news may actually pay for their syndicated stories. Let me know what you think about this |

How do I impliment gocodes into the feeds? I only have 1 affiliate product right now but I'm trying to udilize adsense. Please help me fix this I really wanna experiment with this type of blogging.

Love it! I have used WP-O-MATIC on 2 sites in the past to share my own content back and forth, but this is a very good insight. Thank you. I will get my next site up ASAP. Hey it gets that sucker up and done, right? I can always go back and put in original content later, but this will be a good procrastination buster. Thanks Again! |

For one of my sites, awhile back I tried several times to use the WP-O-Matic plugin, but for whatever reason could never get it work just right. Tried some other options, then finally settled on Autoblogged, which has improved over time.

GoCodes is just a url redirect plugin. e.g. you give it an ugly affiliate link and it provides a nice url on your domain which will redirect to the affiliate link. WPOM - you use the ReWrite tab to specify a word or phrase in the new post it creates and you can both rewrite that word or phrase and/or link that word or phrase to a url. In Keiths model the URL you specify is the one you get from GoCodes. John's Easy WP Affiliate works outside of the WPOM/GoCodes setup I believe in that you wouldn't use the rewrite function of WPOM, but Easy WP Affiliate would add the links in as the post is being created. At least that is how it looks to me, but I'm willing to be corrected! I'm not sure if those links would then get included in the RSS feed (which is one of the key techniques used here and in my model) or indeed if Johns plugin and WP-O-Matic play nicely together. That would need testing. Tim

Tim, I understood what the tool would do, but I could see how someone else NOT struggling with the WPOM alternative issues that I am might not be clear. I would need to use 2 different plugins to replace WPOM. - YAAB - WP Affiliate I like Keiths point about keeping GoCodes in the mix because you keep all these same links with your domain URL all over the place. I suspect that if my POSTS on my blog that I create [via whatever method] dont get into MY outgoing RSS feed until I actually PUBLISH them I could be in ok shape getting my affil links out there with the GoCodes beautified URLS. So I would ... Tag my relevant content manually with the Google Reader as you illustrated in your post[s] with NOTES [my notes]. - YAAB would pick them up as an incoming subscribed feed. I have set to post them as DRAFTS. I then look at my DRAFTS section of the posts .. go into them with John Taylors WP Affiliate plugin - add links - hit post. Id have WP Affilaite insert Go Code links. I understnad GoCodes tracks clicks on those links? Gotta keep the Go Codes in the mix!!! |

Hi Steve. Looks like you've got it covered. It will be interesting to see how it pans out with that setup, do let me know. Thanks Tim |

Keith there's also the ALinks plugin for wordpress which will allow you to create links to affiliate products based on keywords. This works great with using WP-omatic. Yes the system you describe will work. I've done it in the past.
