If you're using the new WordPress 2.7, that might be it. It can take plugins a little while to catch up to new versions, but that's just speculation. I haven't tested it with 2.7 yet, so I can't say for sure. It DOES work with 2.6.5 though. If you aren't on 2.7 yet, make sure you meet the requirements for the plugin (listed on the download page). This is, of course, in addition to Tim's suggestion of making sure the whole plugin is there. When you say the "setup" screen, you're talking about the screen from "Settings > WP-O-Matic"? From there, you should click on "Add Campaign" to start. It's hard to tell what you're talking about specifically from your post. Try this stuff, and if no luck, try to clarify exactly where you're having trouble. Once again, glad you liked my post!

This sounds like a sound strategy. It would be good to do an actual test and make a case study which has a timetable and a list of actions done... with a specific income goal to reach in a predetermined number of days.

Tim and Keith - Thank you both for the replies. I have installed WP-o-Matic 1.0RC4-6 to WordPress version 2.6.3. 1. After installing the plugin, at wp-admin/plugins.php page there is a message at the top right of the screen: "Please click here to setup and configure WP-o-Matic." 2. I click to go to this page: wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wpomatic.php&s=setup At this page it directs me to perform the SimplePie test. No problem with this test. 3. Then I click Next to go to page 2 of 4 but nothing happens that button does not work. This why I cannot run through the setup process. |

![]() However, that is a weird problem and I've never encountered that before. I'll try and do some testing and see if I can replicate it tomorrow. In the meantime, I would try deactivating and uninstalling. Then re-install and reactivate and try again. If it's still not working, I'd try and figure out what the URL was that it was trying to go to from the "Next" button and try going there directly. However, if it's a form button instead of a link (I don't recall, I don't have it in front of me) that may be a little trickier. I'll let you know if I'm able to figure something out. In the meantime, there are several other plugins mentioned elsewhere in this thread that will do similar things to WP-O-Matic (pull and post content from RSS feeds). I prefer WP-O-Matic, but something could be worked with the other plugins if we just can't get it working. So don't fret!

Thanks again Keith. I have un-installed and reinstalled a few times. There are the links on the left of the initial setup page: Dashboard Campaigns Add Campaigns Options Import Export Each of these links when clicked correctly changes the url in the browser address bar BUT the page still reads as page 1 of the setup process. In the meantime I´ll look at the other auto posting plugins. |

Yes...this autoblogging model works. I know it because I have been building "a lot" of such automated blogs filling them with RSS feeds from many different sources online. Last time I can literally build one such blog a day using wordpress and that includes designing a pleasant looking header and banner too. One thing I love to do is to include 3 self written articles to target those long tail in the niche I am venturing into. At least with this article, I can start sending visitors from forums, yahoo answers and such. I have about 60 such blogs still running till today and making a nice 4 figures adsense monthly. It is truly a rinse and repeat model...and a very profitable one if you know how to monetize it properly. Thanks for sharing such good info to those in need! |

I know about a script for wordpress that can automaticaly accept and publish articles from Article Marketer. It's called Auto Submit Articles, but it is compatible only with up to wordpress v. 2.2 . I tested it a while ago on wp.2.2 and it worked as expected, but that installation was defaced by hackers. Anyway, as far as I know the script can't be used on wp above 2.2. I wander if anybody knows about similar article marketer script for wordpress that is compatible with wp 2.6 and above ? |

I just had a quick look through the bug report pages for WP-O-Matic and there are a couple of entries dating back to August with the same problem as you have (but no resolution). There was also another similar resolution where the originator realised he had uploaded the WPOM files directly into the Plugins directory rather than under 'Plugins/wp-o-matic' . Also, what browser are you using? I have problems using the WPOM interface in Internet Explorer. Tim

of "accidental" long tail keywords that keyword research could never turn up. I also go back and add a list of current auctions within the same post with BayRSS. I have gotten WP-O-Matic to pull the feed once, but then I have to delete it and start over if I want to fetch it again. So I have just been going ahead and fetching a 100 at a time. It has really juiced up the traffic to the site. Edit: Using Google Reader I've been able to create Atom feeds that work really well with WP-O-Matic and I can add the BayRSS code to the custom template so that each post has constantly updating up to date auctions.

plugin for Unique Article Wizard that you can use to get free articles, but it is a little difficult to keep the articles on topic and I haven't felt comfortable just letting them post automatically without checking them. There are some junky articles that get sent out through that service. Some good one's too though.

I'm using WP 2.7. The wp-o-matic plugin works for feeds from RSS Mountain but not from feeds created with Google News. I haven't tried it with other feeds yet.

If you are having trouble getting wp-o-matic to read your Google news rss feed, I think I've got a solution for you: Feedburner. Copy the Google news RSS feed you create, go to Feedburner, and paste it there. Feedburner will generate a Feedburner rss feed which does work! |

Good tip there kingcatdaddy, usually you can get most 'difficult' feeds to work by burning them through FeedBurner first. You can also aggregate them through Google Reader as per the thread in my sig. Google Reader feeds seem to work great in WPOM without any additional burning. Tim |

I don't know if I set something wrong on my WP-o-Matic but I wanted to give everyone a quick heads-up. I looked at my hosting root "/" directory (above /public_html) and there were almost 2000 cron.php.xxxxx files there. Worst, I wasn't the owner and couldn't delete them. You might want to check your root directory... |

Thanks Tim. I thought that might be the case but it was late and I was too tired to test it. I'm looking forward to trying your Google Reader method out, and/or combining with Keith's automated system. It's funny...it's been a lot of work wrapping my mind around the keyword research, setting up a hostgator reseller account, figuring out the right name server stuff to enter, struggling with the layout of Wordpress 2.7 and lots of little things that have consumed for more than a few hours. But finally, finally, it's coming together. The 2nd website will be vastly easier to create. Without the clear instructions that you, Keith, and many other contributors have taken the time to write, it would have been an impossible task. This IM newbie thanks you and all the other posters who take the time to write educational and money making posts! |

Im to do process of elimination here i went into my folder in legacy file manager and did this # BEGIN Wordpress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END Wordpress In the documentation for the go codes, it says do this: Place the following code in your .htaccess file, above the line that says "# BEGIN WordPress": `RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^go/([a-zA-Z0-9_-]*)/?$ /index.php?gocode=$1 [L,R] This example assumes your blog is located at the root of your domain. If your blog is located at yourdomain.com/blog/, then you should change "/index.php" to "/blog/index.php". If that works for you, great! It didn't work for me!! Instead, just copy and paste the Line beginning with RewriteRule here: # BEGIN Wordpress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^go/([a-zA-Z0-9_-]*)/?$ /index.php?gocode=$1 [L,R] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END Wordpress If it's in the same directory as the Wordpress install, don't mess with that "/blog/index.php" crap. That should fix the problem, if not just ask me and I'll try to help. Steve Both spots i tried and it didnt work. I think im just way too tired. |

Is this normal? I have the rss coming in just fine and switched the index.php and single.php to excerpt only, when you click on the title it doesnt leave my page it takes them to the post but its still just a snipet, its not the whole post. Any suggestions?? What if i put excerpt on the single.php and content on the index.php. If that works would i get all that crap at the end about its location in my file manager. Thanks |

well no it offers full content but I have changed that. When you go into your template you can change the code in both the index.php and the single.php. you change it from content to excerpt. I want to do that so they have to click the title of the post to get the full content. My question is that once you click on the title you cant get the full content. But if I take and put 'content' in the place of 'excerpt' then i get full content but on the front page. I dont want that I want a snipit on the page then click the title to get full content. Thanks sorry for not specifying |

Is anyone getting wp-o-matic working property with a Google news feed and WP 2.7? I can't get it work. Even if I try it via Tim Dixon's method, it still doesn't work. Yet if I put in an RSS feed from rssmountain.com, the setup does work (at least for pulling the initial posts). |

Well, I just set up a brand new WP2.7 blog. Added the WPOM plugin. Subscribed to a Google News feed in Google Reader. Tagged one of the entries and put that tag feed into WPOM. It created a new post no trouble at all. EDIT* I also have just tried adding a 'raw' Google News feed and that did not work, but if I burned the same feed through FeedBurner and used that it worked fine. Tim |

Hey Keith, Thanks for sharing. I believe this outline is clear enough for anyone who wants to make money from niche blogging. I think the hurdle for most will be how to select the keywords and based on what criteria should they filter the keywords. Wrong keywords = wrong traffic = no sale (or even negative cashflow) Anyway, this automatic system only works for those who want to get their hands dirty by starting off the manual way by investing their time, effort and money. Automation can be done after the system is fully set up ![]() Thanks alot Keith! John |

1. Don't copy and paste from Word! This is why my feeds were not working with wp-o-matic. It didn't matter if it was wp 2.65 or 2.7. It's Word that caused wp-o-matic not to work properly. I forgot that Word puts in all kinds of hidden garbage. I could kick myself for forgetting this basic fact of working with HTML. When I copied the same feed from notepad, whadda you know...it worked! 2. Feeds compiled directly from Google News don't work. I even tried Atom rss format to no avail. However, if you take that same feed and either run it through Feedburner, or Google Reader (per Tim Dixon's instructions), it will work. Additional point 3. I'll see if new stories come through the scheduled rss retrieval (cron job) tomorrow. Keith - be sure to include these points in your upcoming WSO! |

Part of the beauty of this auto-blog system is how wp-o-matic will take iterations of a word that you've designated, and make it an affiliate hyperlinked word---all automatically from fresh content flowing in from the rss feed. Is it possible to do the same thing with articles imported (reworked PLR content) into my blog? I think this auto-affiliate-hyperlink is an idea worth expanding. |

If you want to just post the article manually there are other plugins that allow you to do a similar thing, but check first as some of them are dynamic in nature, so the link would not get passed out through your RSS feed. Tim

Most of us probably already know about how to search for a phrase using Google. Highly relevant phrase searches can be tuned even further with negative terms. Below is what I found from Google's website. I'm not up to 15 posts so I can't paste URLs yet . Only one emoticon allowed each day, right? :-)Negative terms If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music |
