How long to see results

I've been doing a lot of marketing online for a while and decided to give article marketing a shot. I was wondering how long does it typically take until you see "results" meaning sales, significant traffic, etc. Just curious.

I think it depends on the keywords you target and how many articles you write each day.

If you find low competition keywords with decent searches, target those in your articles and submit several articles a day (plus backlink the articles) you will see traffic and money much sooner than if you don't spend time to dig out the good keywords and only write 1 article a day.

Find keywords within your niche that have at least 100 exact searches per month and write 1 excellent - 500 word post that is optimised for this keyword and then post to ezine articles.

Use all the other article directories (goarticles, article dashboard, buzzle and so on) to link back to the ezine article using your targeted keyword within the anchor text.

Your ezine article will eventually hit the first page in google if you create backlinks to the ezine article on a daily basis. This can provide you a steady stream on on-going traffic for each article.

Rinse and repeat to increase the traffic + sales.

Time frame depends, I've had some articles creating traffic within 10 days and others have taken upto 45-90 days.......

It depends on the competition of the keywords used and how much linking you can be bothered to do.

    Hope this helps

It really depends on different factors. It depends on how competitive your targeted keywords are. Good long-tail keywords will produce faster results.

You need to have lots of patience and write several articles. Provide solid information for your readers.

You also need to backlink such articles. Don't try competing with sites on the first page of google which have high PR or lots of backlinks.

Dig down and carry out some good keyword research.

    Hi Joel,

Article marketing does really work, but it needs to be done correctly:

    1. Articles need to offer good content, not just some rehashed crap that we see all of the time
    2. Should be informative and leave the reader wanting more - Which they can find at your website : )
    3. Volume, Volume, Volume - If you are only writing 1 article and submitting to a few directories then you really won't see an impact, but if you can crank out 10 - 20 per day and keep it up then you should see some great results in your first 30 days.

    Hope this helps

I guess as long as you're submitting regularly, choosing the right keywords/niches & producing good quality articles it can't take as long as it should normally!

As you've seen from some of these other good posts, it depends on alot.

    - You need to start by targeting the right keywords (for example "headache relief" is going to take you much, much longer to see results than "stress headache remedy").

    - You need to make sure that every article you publish does both you and your business justice. Article marketing is a great way to establish yourself as an expert in your niche, but you can't do it by writing sub-par articles, or articles that don't offer solid information. You'll need to do research, give your readers unique information, and present it in a compelling way.

    - You need to publish content on a variety of directories. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket; find a bunch of top directories that you like, and submit articles to all of them.

    - Once you get articles published, bookmark them, tweet them, get them out there. The more people who know about them, the better. Every time I publish an article (whether it's on my own site, or an article directory), I tweet it and submit it to 5 or 6 social bookmarking sites. I've found it's generated alot more traffic to my articles, and alot more traffic to my site.

    - Finally, be patient. Article marketing can take some time to build up momentum. If you keep working smart, you'll see the results you want.

You really need to focus on and master keyword research. Then understand the keyword density of your articles and then backlinking. It is not hard but you must understand keyword research and how to analysis your keywords

        Hi Joel...

I think the greatest challenge we face is to put our heads down and work-work-work for a predetermined time period - like 30-90 days - or for a specified number of articles on one niche topic.

The human part of us wants to keep checking in.

Problem is... article marketing (or anything else for that matter) usually doesn't happen overnight. Oh sure, some people might nail it the first time up to bat... and that's the kind of result most of us secretly want. Instant gratification, baby! But the harsh reality is that to see any tremendously valuable RESULT, most of us have to work at it.

Fight the temptation to write a few articles, stick them up on EZA and then constantly monitor the results yours getting. Forget checking traffic, Adsense earnings, Paypal sales, emails, and so on. For the time you can commit -- do it. Keep writing.

        All things equal...

        Small Effort = small results
        Considerable Effort = considerable results
        Massive Effort = Massive Results

I'm not suggesting burying one's head in the sand and slaving away endlessly. But if you do your initial research right and plan your attack strategically, and you continue to work consistently for a reasonable time period, you will earn a decent return. But I wouldn't expect it with only a few articles.

        Robert

I use socialmarker.com. It's free and easy to use. All you have to do is sign up with the bookmarking sites of your choosing, individually. Then, you can use socialmarker to speed up the bookmarking process - instead of going to each individual site.

      How long to see results?

You keep going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going UNTIL you start seeing results...

When you eventually start seeing results, you'll forget about how "long" it took in an instant.

      Time is just a feeling.

Done correctly, you can easily see consistent profits from article marketing
within a week or two. As a total newbie I was able to do this and I've
seen many other do the same since.

The key is to target "buyer type" keywords that don't have a ton of competition.
Yes, there are a TON of them out there, but it does take a bit of research
        and out-of-the-box thinking.

Too often I see article marketers targeting the wrong keywords. They are
going after low competition keywords, but the keywords are not targeting
buyers. The people searching these keywords are typically looking for free
info and are NOT looking to buy something.

With buyer type keywords you can make sales even if there's only a couple
        hundred global searches per month.

        To your success,
        Matt
