Need Some Marketing Advice.

Hi Warriors,

I always try to help users on this forum who ask questions I believe I can help them with however, today I need a bit of help myself.

I have spend a lot of time, effort and money learning how to create good videos that people can use in promotions, ads, Facebook pages, Google places etc and I know people need good videos - I just don't know how to access these people, or at least a really good way of doing so.

How would you suggest getting in front of them?

I have done some keyword research and the keywords seem to be hit and miss with regards to what the searches are actually looking for.

Do I call local business and offer them a video, if so what do i say?

Do I instead email, how do I inform them the importance of having a video in their social media presence, if they have one already?

I do custom videos as well as templates where they customise it themselves (it will say "text 1" and they tell me what they want there, then I render the video and send it to them).

I don't know if I can post a video example here so on the side of caution I will keep the post general, but any help on who i should target and how is much appreciated.

Edit: I posted the video further down so people have a better idea of what im doing, I should be ok posting it right? If not could a mod let me know?

Cheers,
Steve

You can possibly contact offline businesses via email or telephone they may be interested especially if their competitors are already using video. In the communication let them know that they will be at a disadvantage. Sell face to face rather than on the phone if possible. To get the interview tell them you will only take 5 minutes of their time, even if you take 2 hrs You can use the 10-3-1 model . If you make 10 calls you will get 3 interviews and 1 project.

I know but I don't want to exhaust through testing if people already have experience or suggestions on what could specifically work.

    Thanks for the input though.

      Hi Steve,

If you are looking to sell video creation as a service, whether it is to offline clients or online clients I reckon you might want to attempt the following.

      1) Create a site with the details of the services offered.
      • Package options
      • Prices
      • Delivery time
      • etc etc
Use a video to pitch you product and encourage people to optin to your list!

You may want to have a way of accepting payments for standard packages, a contact form for quotes and a way of getting optins (See 2)

      Include a portfolio. (see 4)

Create a Social Plugin on Facebook and install on site.

      2) Write a short report on why offline/online businesses should use video as part of there ongoing online promotions....youtube is growing etc etc etc

      3) Offer the giveaway on your site to collect optins and sell your services to them.

      4) Create a "dummy" portfolio of videos and upload them onto Youtube. (at the end of each video have a "Created by .........Insert website name" to act as advertising.

Include the URL to your site on the youtube comment and remember to add annotations to the video to prompt people to visit your site.

      5) Build a FB fanpage designed to promote your site and giveaway the report to generate a list..........every video you create for your portfolio you drip feed into the page by posting the Youtube link and ask people to comment on it.....this will increase your exposure.

      6) Include your service on your sig file of any forum that you are a member of and direct to your site.

      7) Include your service on your email signature.

      8) Go to Fiverr.com and get some flyer advertising.....

      9) Create a personalized video for potential clients telling them of why they need video and what you can offer.......email it to them.

Those are a few ways you could market yourself.......if you need anymore help feel free to shoot me a pm

      Chris

I am going to be pretty vague and generalized in my answer... but directMail all the way if you're contacting offline businesses. Put together a nice salesletter, or do a postcard to a very targetted, local list. A salesletter would be really good because you can talk about yourself to build credibility, how you have helped others, provide testimonials, call to action, etc. A postcard, on the other hand would be cheaper. But you could drive them to a video (that you do) so they can see your quality, and the video can be basically a video sales letter providing the same info that a traditional sales letter would have. You also want to make sure you capture Name and E-mail (and probably phone too) on your website that you drive them too.

I was thinking a website where people could select a template they like and then send me their info. I would then Send the video for them to use however they like.

I do however like the idea of some sort of squeeze page, I could make the video showing them the importance of online video and then how to select a video maybe?

Anyone have any really good ideas or info?

I think you answered your own question. You should certainly create a good video squeeze page that can capture leads for this service.

Write a report that outlines the importance of your service that includes previous work and offer this free report to people who signup to your list. You can then upsell the service via an autoresponder that you would use to deliver the free report.

        Maybe you're right.

I probably know what i can be doing, but just being overly picky about finding the "best" way to do it.

I have already taken a bit of a "risk" by making a video for a company who hasn't asked for it, I'm going to call them and see what kind of reaction I get.

I needed to do it for some sort of test to gauge what I was doing, I'll let you all know how I get on.

Thx WFH - some good stuff to chew on. Just need to get people to the website.

Get the website built and then you can focus on the getting people to it....without the website you are limited to the marketing that you can do.

Feel free to pm me and I'll give you a help in hand with the marketing side of things.

          Regards

          Steve,

If I were you, I'd get a showreel made and upload it to as many video sites as you can. Also list it in the JV forum here and probably take out a WF classified ad. There are plenty of potential customers lurking on these boards.

As far as local businesses are concerned, I think it would be a tough ask to approach them cold, when many of them may not even be sold on the benefits of online marketing yet. Far better, IMO, would be to target those marketers already serving an offline client base and partner with them, by offering your video services as a perfect fit for their existing SEO efforts.

          Good luck!

If you're going tomarket to off-line businesses I would first try to find the businesses that have websites.

At least and then, you are talking to people that know the importance of a web presence.

Then, you need to find out why they would need a video. Then, you need to develop a hook strong enough to generate interest in your videos.

For instance... here is a service I am considering starting in my local area. I am going to take a video camera to houses that are being sold by either realtors or for sale by owner people and create videos.

I am then going to put those videos on a real estate website that I currently have ranked number one for my area.

I have talked to a couple people and have decided to price the service at $97.

I am then going to hire a couple of people to go out and shoot the video and I'm then going to send the video to my editor oversees.

I'm thinking it will be a pretty lucrative business. But, we will see.

            Hopefully that helps.

              Hey,

              That's a great idea.

You could also take panoramic photos of the place and use Photoshop to create a virtual tour of the home.

              Good luck with it,

I dont know about other people, but I will often hire somebody if they contact me. Not that I am easily pushed over, but that I respect that they are working hard to get business. I feel that too often in the world these days people are getting lazy. In that I mean that I will often contact someone in my industry for a reason, and only maybe will they get back to me. And no, my industry is not rolling over in cash.

So my 2cents are try to find ways to connect people personally. Not just a random email or something like that.

You mean offer it as a service to people who already have clients?

That might work, I don't know how many people would be up for it though - kinda hard to gauge your own work - here is a video (play in HD):

Yes, that's one route I'd explore. Not every marketer is comfortable with video and they may be uneasy with outsourcing video work, if they haven't tried it before. Or, they just may not have thought of adding video to their existing list of services. [BTW I'm assuming that you're not interested, at this stage, in providing a full range of offline services yourself; which is why I suggested the partnership idea].

It should be relatively easy to convince a marketer that a video such as the sample you've posted would go down well with their clients - apart from the added SEO benefits, a video has that 'wow' factor which tends to impress offline businesses.

Also, there are so many marketers, seemingly, chasing offline business and wondering how to differentiate themselves (I look at the threads here, for example: Offline Marketing Discussions ) whom I'm sure could be contacted. It must strengthen their pitch to have a custom video to present to potential clients.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that your best bet is to target the marketer rather than the end user.

    Steve,

Sorry for the delayed response, just been busy with work and all.

Anyways, what I was referring to is going to fiverrr.com and doing a search for videos. You will see how others are marketing their videos and services there. All you have to do is create an account and post your vidoes there.

Provide this service to offline businesses in your local area:

    1. Make a list of the small to medium sized privately owned businesses (mom and pop shops) in your area (not chain stores like Walmart).
    2. Do a little research into those businesses online, check their websites to see if they have video or not and if so could it be improved.
    3. Put together a good info letter to mail to them stating the necessissity of a good video on their landing page of their stores website. Explain to them that video captures the attention of perspective buyers and keeps them on their sites longer which leads to more sales.
    4. In this letter give them some free advice and tips on what you would do to improve their video if you were the one making it. Mention things like how videos themselves can get ranking in Google for related search terms and how you could put a short teaser video of their store/business on YouTube to promote their main website and follow that up with a more detailed video on their site.
    5. List all of the services you provide and give them a way to contact you.

There are several other things you could do with this approach but hopefully that will get your creative juices flowing....
