What's a good membership limit for a PLR articles membership site?

Hello Warriors,

Let's say I'm offering 200 PLR articles a month (totally spread across 5 hot niches) as part of my membership site. Pricing around $20 a month. What would be a good maximum limit on the number of memberships available?

Another Question... Is 1,000 way too high a limit?

Thanks for any clues/opinions on this one

    Why would you limit it?

Sure, it sounds great but what is to stop me from joining your PLR site, downloading your stuff and offering it on my unlimited PLR membership site?

You're only shooting yourself in the foot by restricting your sales.

    I'm all about that bass.

The license would prevent it. If he's offering fresh stuff, he can specify that it cannot be passed on as PLR. Otherwise, limiting the membership would make no sense.

Limiting the number of people who have the right to use the content gives it more value to most people. 1000 is far too high - you might as well not even put a limit that way. I wouldn't go over 300 at the most.

Well, the idea to keep the content less-saturated. Let's think of it from a prospect's perspective. S/he would most likely ask how many other people are buying this exact same package, or so I think.

It's because of situations like this that the thought of limiting the number of sales came to my mind. Please share your views, thanks

Quick info, I actually came across a site where someone sells 9000+15000 PLR articles for only $3.

Those are the same 24,000 PLR articles that have been collated from packs of 500 PLR articles and such. I've seen them doing rounds for almost 5 years now. The content might be good, but the keywords they target might have already become hard to rank high for.

I've seen some fairly-BIG name IMers offer 135,000 PLR articles for free download as well. Not saying it's a bad deal or anything, but it's not fresh content.

Here we're talking about the membership site owner (and/or his/her team) writing 200 new articles every month.

If the content is written by a no-good writer who writes with broken English, what the use of having 1000000000000000000000000000 articles with broken English in it?

Putting myself into the imaginary shoes of a potential purchaser of PLR, I would not want to share PLR with 999 other users each month.

        Just sayin ...

300 members at $20 that's $6,000 monthly income. Divide that by 200 articles a month and you are earning $30 per article.

So I guess it depends if you are happy with $30 per article.

Maybe 500 a month that will give you $50 per article.
I guess my happiness here depends on the time and efforts it takes.

P.S.: Since you're doing the same thing and I'm interested in doing it, could it be possible that we can have a word or two sometime? I could really use some help, and do some writing for you in return

That's the kind of insight I'd love. How many people (max.) would you like (read: tolerate ) sharing the PLR content with?

Yeah but PLR at that price is usually poor quality and also has 5 million copies of it already around the net.

If he is offering good quality, limited PLR then it is worth the price for his membership

If you got 300 members then $6,000 a month is a pretty darn good income - I think I'd be happy with that. If that makes $30 per article, even if you outsource and pay someone $10 per article to write them, you can still make $20 per article profit - or $4000 a month.

That is if you can get a full 300 members - I think that will be your biggest challenge, building up your membership numbers.

My thought is what percentage of those articles do I care about? If my niche is the art of worm farming, I bet not too many of those articles will relate to my niche. Of course, I could jump over and start up a bunch of niches about the topics you offer. There may be months go by and all i get are diet and 6-pack ab PLR. Oh, BTW, worm farming is a 'money' niche...;>
