How Do I Make Money on Ebay?

Am new to eBay. As there is no ebay site in my country [Kenya], so am using ebay UK.

I've listed a digital product, which is basically a collection of ebooks that have resell value or whose copyright has expired.

I just listed the item an hour or so ago. you can view it here

My query is: how do I get potential buyers to view and bid.
I need some tips on this

search for other similar products in the area you're selling, see what they're doing and if there's a viable market for such

First problem is the sheer size of the package. It's hard to believe the package is current enough to have much value. Most people can't even fathom 300 thousand ebooks, let alone think about flipping through them to find what they are looking for. Something about categorization or an index might help... also, 42 thousand articles... same basic issue. Just how big is the DVD or Download?

Second, no mention of what niches or topics. If I were buying PLR, I'd want to know what topics.

Third, no indication of how the product will arrive. The shipping cost (12 british pounds to the USA) is pretty high, and will deter many potential bidders. Stating clearly what form they will be receiving (DVD, CD, whatever) will help a lot.

Fourth (personal gripe about ebay ads) The fonts are so large they are difficult to read. Also copy states that if you sold them for a buck each, there's 300 thousand right there. Obvious question pops into the reader's mind. Why doesn't seller sell them for that?"

I've found that my ebay ads sell better if shipping is included. People really seem to like that "free" shipping so much they rarely seem to notice that it gets included in the minimum price.

This is a product that may not be very good for eBay. I know they used to prohobit downloadable products, so anything that looks like one may get people to be a bit suspicious. Also, with a zero feedback, and only a member on ebay for 5 or 6 weeks, that's going to limit the number of people that "take a chance" with you, even on inexpensive products.

Most people will overlook the feedback if the ad copy reads well and answers their questions. EBay is like selling anywhere else, you have to put together an ad (auction page) that is appealing to the prospect, and a subject/title that is compelling and easy to search.

I live in the UK and normally sell on ebay UK. I'm currently visiting India and really impressed with ebay India as there are thousands of bargin products. My aim is to buy from ebay India under my wife's ebay account and then advertise the purchased products in my own ebay UK account. I guess that would work as just concentrating on one country has become saturated. What are your views guys?

eBay doesn't let you do auctions for instant downloads, and ebooks on CD are only allowed in classified ads if memory serves, so you stand a fairly good chance of having that auction pulled.

On the off chance that it doesn't get taken down, you need to specify exactly what your physical product is - how many CD's will you be shipping, which carrier you will use to ship it, and give a better reason to buy than just resell them for a buck each. With all due respect, the combination of zero feedback and a digital product would put off most buyers.

My experience has been that eBay members tend to buy on eBay first, and attempt selling after they've gotten a feel for how it all works. Even having only 10 or so purchasing feedbacks will go a long way towards making it less scary to buy from you.

As far as learning to drive traffic to your auctions, there are a couple of very good eBay blogs you could read:

Skip McGrath is one, and there is eBay Radio and Griff, and there's also an eBay membership site that I have heard good things about that's operated by Jim Cockrum. (none of these are affiliate links, they are just the people I listen to about my eBay business.)

Oh, I mustn't forget John Lawson - he went from selling used textbooks to Powerseller and then on to opening other channels - now he's a speaker, too. I heard him speak this summer, and built a Squidoo lens about him.

You might also consider putting up some information on your seller's page - you don't even have a photograph or anything about yourself.

    Good luck.

I have a couple of posts on my blog about how to make money on ebay, using my experiences.
Good luck, there are lots of things you can sell and make a profit on.

Making money on ebay is getting harder, however it is still possible if you've got that right product that you can produce at the right price etc. I wouldn't say it's the easiest way to make money online though however.
