Stylin' & Proflin' for Niche Ideas

We all hear a lot about different ways to use social media sites, like Facebook to get traffic, and some of these ideas and systems are brilliant. I've been looking for some inspiration for niche ideas, and have been using Facebook in a different way to do it.

I'm sure this is nothing new, but what I've been doing to mine for ideas, is going to my friends list, clicking on a few friends every evening and checking out their profiles.

You might be surprised at the wealth of information that is available on these profiles. People like and follow the products, companies and hobbies that matter most to them. For a marketer on the prowl, these little profile details can be pure gold for picking new niches or products to promote.

At first, I felt kind of weird digging around people's profiles. You feel almost like you're spying on people. After I gave it some thought, though, I realized that these profiles are public, people put the stuff out there to share with their friends, so it's no big deal.

Checking out your friends' profiles is not creepy. Unless you're just checking out old girlfriends' profiles and looking at their pictures all the time. By the way, if your wife catches you doing this it's not going to be much fun for you around the house - don't ask me how I know this... I'm just saying...

All kidding aside, I've got some great jumping off point ideas from looking at a few profiles. It's a quick and easy way to find out what people are interested in and what they are buying. After all, you're probably spending too much time on FB anyway, so make good use of that time and do some research.
