Must Social Bookmarking Be Done Before Submitting Articles to Directories or Can I Do It After?

I am trying to put a new article up on my blog every day for the next month. I learned here that it is best to put articles on my blog first, then submit them to the social bookmarking sites, then to submit to ezine and other article directories.

I'm under a lot of time constraints right now and don't have the time to social bookmark, nor do I have the time to go to the freelancing sites to find someone, nor do I have the time to set up a program, whether it be linkjuicer or some other program.

It's very important that I get them to the directories a few days after I put them on my blog.

Can I wait to social bookmark or does that have to be done before going to the article directories?

you should be bookmarking each post, with the keywords you are trying to rank for. not just bookmarking your blog et al.

each post should be bookmarked, and the sooner the better.

if you haven't BM'd your blog yet, do it. but also remember that site rank comes with page rank. the more pages you have ranked the better your overall site will rank. keep focused on your keywords, and backlink as much as you can to each blog post with whatever time you do have.

You can wait if you don't have the time right now. The main value of social bookmarks won't be traffic unless you have a really interesting post/article that goes viral on a site like Digg for instance. The main value you are getting from doing so is high pagerank backlinks. Occasionally some traffic can come from some of those sites but I wouldn't anticipate a lot.

Your main priorities are posting to your own blog/site and then posting to the article directories. When you have the time go back and social bookmark them or hire it out.

Okay, thank you Slade. Yeah, I hardly think any article of mine will go viral. I"m pretty new here - only stumbled upon this great place here a few weeks ago. I came under the impression the other day that what I do is not what most do on here. I"m under the impression that what most do here is have wordpress blogs in which they put a few articles up and then affiliate links?

I run a website where I sell children's products. It's November... think about why I'm under time constraints

I hardly expect an article on the best wagon to buy, how to buy a high chair, etc to go viral.... lol

I have only really gotten into articles and blogging and twitter and all the other social sites in the past month. Will definitely keep at it all year round as it's a great way to build traffic.

I only just learned a few weeks ago from this forum that you can put articles on ezine, etc that I put on my blog first. Luckily, I learned this in the beginning and only gave away 8 articles to ezine.

I"m trying to put an article every day on my blog and hopefully ezine and other article directories for the next month to drive more traffic to my site during the holiday shopping season.

While bookmarking I"m sure would help, the articles going on my blog and article directories alone should give me a significant (for me) surge in traffic. I did put an article on delicious though - I can maybe do 1 or 2 bookmarking sites at this time. I had a list of the places to submit to and I can't for the life of me find it.

Next year I will be in a way better place and will either have a good amount automated or someone else doing it for me.

Right now, I can only take on so much and I"m already working pretty much around the clock.

I just wasn't sure if once I submitted to article directories if I would be forbidden from putting them on the bookmarking sites later.

Think long term - you should never really stop building links, especially if you have tough competition.

I have pages which I've been bookmarking for 3 years now!

Do social bookmarking first because it helps to get indexed faster.

Try and get the posts bookmarked as soon as you can, putting the task off could lead to you potentially forgetting about it and losing out on some well deserved traffic and back links. Just keep on top of it and remain consistent and it should all be good whichever way you choose to carry it out.

I checked my site on websitegrader last night and had previously checked it the night before. In 1 night, it went from 95 to 97 and the only thing I had done was bookmarked a blog post on delicious. For me, that is pretty amazing. I'll do it a few more times and see what happens.

      Sounds great!

Bookmark a little each day. It has mega-huge returns and it's simple to do.

I"ve been thinking about it and is bookmarking one's own site even allowed?

I just like to keep my name the same everywhere I go as it just makes things easier and I had always thought it would make it easier for people to find me. But now I am wondering if that is bad idea in instances such as this. I signed up with these places and used my website name as my name so it's totally obvious that I"m bookmarking my own site.

Should I sign up with a different username?
