Does "article marketing" mean article directories?

Hi:

Good morning!
I have some questions that might need your help.

(1) Does "article marketing" mean to submit article to article directories?

(2) After submitting article there, the affiliate link will be visited by many people? Really?

Thank you for your time!
Have a great day!

      yokosasa,

Not only directories, but web 2.0 sites and other sites also.

      2) When you interest your reader enough, then yes, they will click on your link. But there is much more to it than submitting an article and people will click your link.

Just search 'article marketing' in this forum, you'll learn how to do it the right way.

Article marketing means more than most article marketers realize. That's why
        their results are so pitiful.

        It means...

        Submitting to directories
        Submitting to web 2.0 sites
        Putting on your own sites
Packaging together to create short reports to build a list
Turning into videos and submitting to video sites
Guest authoring on other people's blogs

I could think of more but it's Sunday morning, it's early and I'm still half
        asleep.

Most people do maybe 2 of the above and that's it.

In essence, most people have taken "Bum Marketing" to mean article
marketing, which can't be further from the truth. Bum Marketing is just
a starting point but not the be all and end all.

Steve hits the nail on the head, as usual. I call that "content marketing". Simple traditional article marketing taken to new levels and using your content in as many ways as possible.

    No.

That's just one very narrow and limited example of what article marketing is.

The "affiliate link"? I wouldn't think so. And it'll often be of limited value if it is.

The idea is that you have a link to your own website. Sending article-derived traffic directly to an affiliate-link isn't a good system at all, because it deprives you of both the two essentials of affiliate marketing: building a list and pre-selling more effectively than you can with just an article. Those are the two activities that primarily determine your income.

Besides which, the "click-through rate", contrary to some of the opinions you'll see, isn't always proportional to your sales. Don't assume that increasing your CTR is necessarily going to increase your income. It may not. I earn far, far more now with an average CTR of about 18% than I did over a year ago with an average CTR of about 38%.

that's great steve. at least the concept of article marketing will not be generalized as just submitting to article directories alone.

if your article is a great read and very interesting then you can expect that many people may visit the link. but since not all will visit the site, people would do lots of articles so they can reach to as many people as they can and get the best amount of traffic going to their site.
