How Many Emails Do You Prepare Up For Your New List?

Hello Everyone,

How many emails do you prepare for your list? I've joined a few lists to get an idea of what gets sent out. Some are sending out an email a day. As I am starting out in building a list I want to get an idea of how many emails to prepare before I put it out there and have people joining it.

Thank you

If you send an email once every hour that gave away $20 to anyone who read it, your audience isn't going to be upset with 24 emails a day. If you send 1 email a week that sells them a crappy gardening tool that breaks, they are going to be pissed. There isn't an exact number to follow. It will depend on what you are providing them. Best to test it out. Start with 1-2 emails a week. Travis

I think this says it all, it should be quality and not about how frequently, but sometimes you have to be able to be in peoples' face so that they can know you are there, just use common sense but don't ever try to piss people off, its damaging even online!

    Thanks Petelta,

Im not really looking at how many emails get sent out per day. I just want to get an Idea of how many you would set up before you would get people signing up to it. I know you can add to it at a later date but how many do you think would be good idea to set up and prepare so you can set and forget for a while and spend your time getting people to join the list. 10, 20, 50?

I understand not every email doesn't have be promotional because the aim is to also build a relationship so little free tips can be added in the mix. Im just unsure how many to get be prepared for the list.

Oh, I get ya. You could really have 1 email written then start finding traffic and just create more as you go. I like to have at least 3 months of emails prepared especially in a brand new niche. This allows me time to get everything worked out while I still have members signing up to the newsletter and they receive quality info.

Aha, this what im looking for. As im starting out this will be my first list so I want to set and forget about for a bit so I can continue to learn whilst my list is building and making money from it.

Anonymous affiliate, I agree with you but as this is the first im going build I want to have a bit of structure to it.

I think it was Frank Kern who said he no longer preps his auto e-mails, but instead writes TO his list 'live' so to speak.

There is a nice benefit in doing this: you can mention something current, and your audience will feel like you're really talking to them, at that point in time.

        It's a very personal touch.

Then again, Frank Kern prob has a bit more time on his hands than the average marketer.

Like everybody else said: it depends on the market, but the 'live' approach is good to be aware of, if it fits the market.

  • There's no right or wrong answer here because it depends on the purpose of the list.

On some list I load up 20+ follow up emails, and on some others I dont even set a welcome message because it's a list exclusively aimed for one-off broadcasts. Like I say, it entirely depends on the purpose/goal of the list.

    Thanks j0S3,

Yeh agree that live emails can be great. These type of emails are probably better for lists when you have subscribers that have signed up simply to hear your expertise.

In that case, pre-written nuggets of expertise

And throw in the 'live' e-mail now and then to make your audience feel that personal touch.

    Good luck.

  • I have found with emails the standard rate of return from an email blast has been around 0.001 return.

Basically if I sent out around 2000 emails to a wait list I realistically expect to receive a reply rate of 5 to 10 people and out of those usually only 1 response is worth doing business will.

Emails sending is a numbers game. The more you have the better the odds, you can personalize emails use contact details and other information to associate with the target audience more.

Overall though I have found email sending to be not the most useful marketing tool. Nevertheless it is still a marketing tool and if that 1 person you get a response back from generates some business for you it has been worthwhile.

    all the best

I load up about 10 emails, spread over 7 days each and then launch my campaign. You dn't need to load up the entire package before you launch because you will just be wasting your time. About 3 months worth of emails will be more than enough, and go along after it's launch.

I typically make sure I have two weeks worth to begin with - usually every second day which means 7-8 and then continue to add a few each week to stay ahead of the curve until I reach 2-3 months worth.

I also do a couple of email blasts each week with up-to-the-minute info such as tips, comments on new products or current events, a tip that I've just discovered, etc...

In terms of what should be IN each of these emails & how much information versus selling you do...here is a video we just placed up on YouTube to help our subscribers better use content (such as email marketing) to engage and convert subscribers to customers:

It's a personal preference really. I like to start out with a months worth of follow up emails which gives me time to prepare more content and add the emails to the followup sequence.

Now I have almost six months worth of followup at roughly one email every 5 days.

Some great info. I would like to know how many words each email should have roughly? Should I put an image in it from time to time, or is text enough? Also I am looking at creating a 25 series newsletter for my site and send it out every 2 weeks. How often should I give a review of my own products? I want to get the balance right as I don't want to push myself onto them like the gurus who I have subscribed to in the past

It all depends on what you plan to do with your list.

Suppose you have a 7 day tutorial. It makes sense to send out 1 email every day. Then by day 8, it would be logical to introduce a product related to that course. I've seen people introduce the product on day 3, during the tutorial.

It really depends on your goal and how assertive you want to be.

For mine, I send out a free report. Then a day later, I give them a free video tutorial demoing something neat and free: free plugin, neat website, etc.

The first week I space out my emails every 2 days. I offer 3 value emails, 4th is a promo email. Then I repeat the process for the next week, but I space out the days to 4. Give some breathing room but don't let them forget you.

Other than making money, my real goal is to condition the reader to keep opening my emails because they expect to see some value.

A good open rate and high click-though rates come in handy down the road if you want to do Ad Swaps with other list owners.

It depends on the niche and if you have content that is worth it for them to view. I try not to mail more than 5 times a week but it happens sometimes. The main thing is consistency. For instance if you mail everyday or every other day you are creating an expectation whereas if you just send out a lone email every now and again your subscribers will have forgotten that they signed up and probably unsubscribe.

Is every 2 weeks ok? I was planning on doing this as I didn't want them to feel bombarded. I just want people who are going to get value from the content. I am planning on doing 25-26 newsletters on my niche (teeth whitening/bad breath remedies) and am looking to write around 300 words for each newsletter. I have no idea how this is gonna work but need to get it happening. I am going to use some of the content from my articles for my newsletters and tailor it to suit that format as best as I can. Also do you know how to host the ebook for a free report? I have a draft report for my niche that I wrote, but I don't know where to host it.

I agree with you Darryl. That really ticks me off so as soon as I feel that that is what they are doing I quickly unsubscribe. I think a lot of marketers could do a lot better with how they use their campaigns.

great tips. I have done it different in different niches. I think its better to start collecting subscribers from the get go then to wait and hold off because you havent written enough emails. 2 is enough to start with, 6-7 days appart. You can always ad...

Thank you for all the replies. I Understand Frequency of emails I just wasn't sure how many marketers set up before they get the list out there. I dont want to set up just one email people join and then I've got get working on more so that I don't leave it too long and becomes a out of the blue email. I suppose I need to sit and think how best to get it going. I think the bonus with the list I intend to start will be offered infront of already buying customers.

Im really liking "Chads" List from warrior forum.

What I have noticed is that a lot of list avoid the word FREE and is changed to F.R.E.E or something like that. Is this to avoid the old junk folder? Are there any other words to be aware of?
