Obama is a case study. 10,000,000 on list and over a billion bucks raised. But would that have been achieved without a presidential election ? No way. Obama was the authority figure but the driving focus was the election "The Event". Even better the election was not just an even it was a "Contest". Marketing around events rocks. I just met a guy this week who has a sports event he started from scratch. Its on today actually. Its a ocean swim contest, gets national TV in NZ. He runs several major events each year and all over the country there are training events all year. He networks with similar events overseas. Now this guy does not market information, he has big corporate sponsors that pay for all prizes and donate equipment and supplements etc. This entire business was started from nothing. He didnt event provide the prize for the first contest 6 years ago, a sponsor did. Anyway this guys positioning at present could make him multi millions as an info marketer. He has his own small list of 10,000. The prestige of major coporate sponsorship and national TV coverage, international contacts (JV's). I have been telling him all about JV's and product launches. He's keen as and wants to outsource the whole thing. Anyway events are very powerful - especially contests that get people excited. |

Great post. I usually do my promos around launches. I use that event to drive sales to my products and at the same time drive affiliate sales to those launches. It is a pretty cool system. Shannon |
