Help Required ! - Trouble opening an email attachment in Word - can anyone advise ?

Hi all,

Not sure what's going on here, can anyone please advise ?

Is it ok to use word software to send photos ?

I was sent an email with a word document attached to it
which contains photos (or should do)

I've downloaded the word document but when I open it all
can see is a page full of junk which looks like a cross between
martian and arabic, little squares and squiggles etc !

I have word viewer installed on my pc so there shouldn't be
a problem should there ?

The person that sent me the attachment did say in the email
that they had trouble getting the photos small enough to
send as an attachment so this is why they used word.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which version of Word are you using and which version did the other person create the document in?

I had the same problem before when someone sent a doc created by Word 2007 and I had an earlier version.

  Do you know which operating system they were using? If it was Windows XP, tell them to go back to the original photos in My Pictures (or wherever), right click on the pictures, select Send to/Mail recipient and then use the options for make pictures smaller.
  
  That way they can send them to you as jpgs (or whatever) but at a small size

  Thanks for the replies, I've got it sorted !
  
  My wordviewer is the 2003 version so I've just updated it via
  microsoft (some kind of modification) so it will work with the
  2007 version.
  
  I can now view the photos ! ...easy when you know how eh ?
