Struggling in Affiliate Marketing? Jump start your Business to $x,xxx - Here's how
I have not been very active posting wise but have been reading WF for more than a couple of years and gained a lot. I thought it was time to give something back.
I'm going to share a tested and proven method to make 4 figures a month in Affiliate marketing with almost no work.
Here's How:
This method revolves around YouTube, because it's an incredibly easy way to get cheap advertising. There are many many people who put up videos on YouTube and find that their views begin to explode into the 100s of thousands, completely unexpectedly.
The key thing about this is that these people probably don't know anything about IM. Buying advertising the conventional way usually involves dealing with people who know their stuff - and will drive a hard bargain to get the most money out of you. This reduces your profit margins, and increases the risk.
Step 1 - Find a Product or Service to promote.
The first thing to do is to decide what you're going to promote. Some of the best things to promote are electrical items. If you can find an affiliate program to promote new gadgets and electronics then there will surely be people on YouTube who have made unboxing/reviews/guides on the product.
Products that display characteristics of innovation, controversy (usually danger), or any unique/fun aspects that will entice people to want to learn more (through YouTube) then they'll have lots of review videos online.
Choosing a product like a book is obviously a bad idea - because people don't look on YouTube for reviews of books. If you can find an affiliate program to promote songs then I would imagine that they work too.
Step 2 - Set up the Sales Method
In case you hadn't figured it out yet, you're going to want to sell this product you've chosen. You'll be sending people to some sales page (not necessarily yours) from YouTube.
If you want to register a domain and have a quick sales page set up, with the basic info on the product, a few catchy lines and some pictures as well as an embedded video of the product (can be the one you'll choose next) and a buy button with the affiliate link, then you'll be in a far better position to ask for advertising on a video. It doesn't have to be great, because you don't have to keep it.. more info comes later on.
Step 3 - Find your Videos
Go on YouTube and search your the product name into YouTube videos. Sort by view count, and see what comes up.
What you're looking for is videos with over 50-100k views and preferably a recent upload date (so we know the video didn't get most of the views years ago and is now dead). Good videos are ones that are un-boxing, reviews and (if it's a camera or any other productive tool) videos showing the product of the product. The thing that these all have in common are that prospective buyers will be watching them. Videos that contain tutorials are aimed towards those who already have the product, so we're not interested in these as they wont be buying.
The next important thing to consider is the person who uploaded the video. In an ideal situation, the uploader would :
- Log in regularly.
- Not have a lot of subscribers.
- Be Young.
- Not be a commercial channel.
All of these points are important, but the last one is essential. They'll be justified in the next part.
Alternatively you might just search google for a chosen keyword and see what video results pop-up.
Step 4 - Messaging the User
This part is crucial the get right. You only really have one shot at making a good impression, and you want to seem friendly and like you have a good and exciting opportunity to offer them.
We want them to log in regularly so that they're able to respond to our request quickly, and good communication is always important in any deal.
We want them to not have many subscribers, because they may be less inclined to offer advertising on their videos if they have a following of loyal people who would be disappointed to see they're being advertised to. They may also get a lot of spam mail and may not even read your message.
We want them to be young, because they'll be less likely to want more money. If they're a teenager or a young adult who has made a video of a product in their bedroom in their spare time and someone offers them $50-100 / month just to put a link in their video, they'll be over the moon with happiness. I would be.
We don't want them to be a commercial channel because they will certainly not allow you to promote your purchase link on their video where it will compete with theirs. It's not worth contacting people whose videos already have a sales link on them.
Now we have to write our message that will convince them. The title must not look spammy like - 'Earn $100 a month!' or something. Instead, write it more formally like 'A proposal for you'. This title doesn't scream at the reader, and is therefore likely to be noticed.
Next you want to write the body text of your message. Here's a few key points you must cover :
- URL / Name of the video you want to advertise on.
- You're willing to offer $50/100+ per month for a link on your video, depending on how many people visit your site.
- You would like a trial period of one week to get an idea what the response will be like
Hi (USERNAME), I saw your video about the (PRODUCT NAME), and I wanted to know whether you'd be interested in allowing me to buy a link & annotation on the video for some money each month. It would be a link to my website, (YOUR URL), which will (in the future) offer more information about the (PRODUCT) on sale. I am not entirely sure how much traffic I would expect from your video, but I am thinking in the range of $50-100/month through paypal, so I would ask for a trial week displaying my link so I can see what how many clicks it gets before investing the money. Please let me know your thoughts, Thanks |
This implies that I'm not out there to make money, but to provide information. I'm a nice guy.
Hopefully you'll get an email back quickly saying that they're interested in the offer - if not then try to persuade a bit but don't spend too long. There are lots of other videos out there.
If they don't agree to the 1 week trial, emphasize the idea that you have no idea what to expect from this and it's just to gauge what price region you should be offering. If you're prepared to, then you may want to just offer them the money for a month and go right in.
Remember you can advertise on as many videos as you like. Send more than one message to be more confident you'll get a response you like.
Step 5 - Watching the Money
By the time you reach this step you should have your link on a video. This will probably mean the video is receiving around 1,000 + views per day, and you should get a decent chunk of that. Now the focus is all about your website.
You may choose to keep the sales page if it is converting well, else you can change the domain to redirect straight to the affiliate landing page. It's best to do this after your link is live and has therefore been checked by the uploader because otherwise they'll be able to work out it's an affiliate offer and do it themselves.
And thats pretty much it, Best of Luck
