Does everyone simply make 1 site/blog per each niche??

Hello there!

So I've found a niche that I located 17 different keyword phrases for!

I've written 17 different articles around each separate keyword phrase. (submitted to ezine, article base..)

So now it's time to create my very first blog/site...

I'm about to fork over the $7. bucks for hosting and domain name..
But now I'm wondering..

* Does a site/blog have any search advantages over an ezine, buzzle article?? and will it mostly just pull up for 1 keyword phrase (typed) like the articles??

* If so, it seems there wouldn't be much of a search advantage over a website vs an article and you'd almost want to do a website for every keyword phrase just like the articles.. Is this right? Can you help me understand this?

Is the advantages to a site/blog strictly..

-The ownership, multiple products, authority, email lists, individuality etc..

Or

-Is their a massive keyword advantage over ezines, buzzle, squidoos?

I'm trying to know how to plan for my niche and be smart about what I'm doing while knowing the reason I'm doing it... I'm still trying to understand all the reasons for making my website even though I've got articles for it. Thanks in advance! I truly appreciate it. -Carson.

If I am understanding your questions right, I would say:

It depends on what you are wanting to do with the niche you are in.

Are you planning to stay in the niche, or do auto-blogging and move on to another niche?

As far as I know, there isn't any "Keyword Advantage" for article directories, squidoo/hub-pages or any site like that.

I'm not wondering if there's search advantages with articles.. I'm wondering if there is search advantages to blog/sites..

Do you all only do 1 blog/site per niche??

Or do you do a blog/site per each key word..?

I'm trying to get clarity on what the advantages are to a blog/site..

So far I hear,, ownership, advertising multiple products, gaining trust and email lists/ capture pages...

But I'm wondering if posting a blog site will help me get more sales according to google rank alone when people type different keywords.. Will my website pull up for more keywords in google over ezine articles people write etc??

I want to know if there's value to a website it if you don't do a mail list etc...

I'm not familiar with monitizing etc.. Does this mean the site is picked up for multiple key words and ranks for more key words, doing better than an ezine artilce or squidoo??

        1. I do 1 site per niche for SEO purposes. I normally use my main keyword in my domain (small ranking boost) so if I'm targeting a new niche and my main keyword is "used truck tires" it wouldn't make sense to have it on a domain called environment-saving-methods.com or something to that effect.

        2. No. I use 1 site per niche. The main keyword goes in the domain name and gets targeted on a page then my secondary keywords become pages as well.

        3. Monetizing is the means by which you attempt to make money from your website. CPA offers, Adsense, selling links/ad space, affiliate products, selling your own products, etc are all examples of ways to monetize your website.

Slightly the wrong way round here, I'm afraid. Doesn't matter too much, this time, I'm sure. But in the long run, you should have all your articles posted and indexed on your own site/blog before you send them to EZA and others. Here you are: this is the thread that explains it all.

Yes - those. And they're huge advantages, and essentials.

I have one "main site" per niche (not per product), and I want it to rank as highly as possible for as many different keywords as possible related to the niche, and I keep adding content to them for ever (sometimes prominently for readers and sometimes far-from-prominently-just-for-SEO).

And build your backlinks (when you do) to your site, not to anyone else's. Use article directories to get traffic from them to your site, not to create traffic by backlinking and sending it to them.

It's what you said above. All of which boils down to the fact that the website is the asset of your business. It's the embodiment/source of your business's income. Exactly as you said, it's about ownership, flexibility, authority, email lists, branding yourself, and all the rest of it.

There are people who believe (entirely wrongly, of course) that "vendors" build up business assets, and "affiliates" don't. An affiliate's asset is his website(s), and the affiliate has far more flexibility than the vendor. If the product stops producing income, the affiliate can easily adapt and promote other things instead, with his authority site intact.

Riffing on one of Alexa's comments...

The idea is to send traffic from other sites to your money site.

      > "Other sites" can include things like feeder sites and blogs owned by you. These are smaller, focused, pure information sites meant to build trust in readers, and send them on to your site in a receptive frame of mind.

      > Articles on directories, other peoples' websites via syndication (both via the directory and through private arrangements).

      > Social bookmarks

      > Audios, videos, pdfs, etc. posted to their assorted sites

      > Press releases

Now, I'm not saying I use all of those all the time. I just put a list together off the top of my head to get people thinking...

You have more flexibility having your own websites as opposed to just having an article. With an article, it can be taken down if they felt that it was too spammy. What if you built thousands of backlinks to that article? You just wasted a lot of time and energy. Having a website gives you the chance to rank for other keywords besides your targeted keywords, plus you never have to worry about somebody taking down your site as opposed to using web 2.0 properties.

Alexa, can you elaborate on this? I am really struggling with where to put all my articles on my own site. There are some articles I think of as being productive, that I want to draw visitors too, but then others that draw visitors but I don't want them to attract a lot of attention on the site because visitors start browsing through them and don't do what I want them to do. And yet, I worry about not letting the lesser articles be linked to because I'm afraid if they have no internal links it will affect their ranking and their ability to draw visitors. I have been searching around for guidance, but haven't found much. -- Patey

Why not dominate the niche by making tons of blogs for it? Sounds good to me
