Boost Sales and Reduce Chargebacks (hopefully)

Here are two ideas I had today and I'm working on implementing them right now.

Two problems I have had are lackluster sales for a particular product and more charge backs than I would have liked (just one is too much to me...)

So here is what I'm going to try. I have no idea if anyone is doing this or not but I wanted to share the ideas just in case it can be useful to someone else.

Boost Sales:

For this particular product, I offer the only digital information + software available for this niche. So I plan to put up a comparison chart on my sales page that shows all of the physical books you can normally purchase at a bookstore and compare them to my digital product (and the fact that it will be updated for life).

I haven't seen too many people using comparison charts on their sales pages but if you are in a niche that is NOT IM this could work really well since in many cases you'll be competing against books that are already available in brick and mortar stores (that never receive unlimited, free for life updates).

Reduce Charge Backs:

I have no idea if this will work but it can't hurt in the least bit. I'm putting up a page that details my return policy and then putting in a paragraph about charge backs. The charge back paragraph will read something like:

"We work with our payment processor and the appropriate authorities to investigate all fraudulent charge backs. We prosecute all illegal activity to the full extent of the law." This may be a white lie in many people's cases, but it isn't entirely a lie. If you actually caught a person illegally charging back, wouldn't you try to take SOME legal action? So there you go.

Feedback welcome neg/pos. Thanks!

I've seen the comparison technique used in a few product sales pages, non IM though. Not direct comparisons (eBook X to Book Y) but benefits of the eBook over standard books, how the eBook is miles better than standard books etc.

As for chargebacks... funnily enough, my best performing products tend to be ones that don't have any refund policy whatsoever.

I experienced this too, I actually didn't offer any money back guarantee and it still sold pretty well for the niche. I guess we'll see what happens now .

Does the site say "no refunds" or just not mention the subject at all?

In the latter case, most people will probably assume there is a money-back guarantee although it wasn't mentioned, since that's so common.

    Interesting ideas. Thanks for them!

On the return policy issue...for most of my products, they sell better with great money back guarantees, and while charge backs aren't a huge problem for me, I'll give it a try and see if can lower them even a bit.
