I have hired my first VA today. He will be wearing alot of hats for now. I was wondering for you all that outsource do you make the VA an admin on your site to make changes? I ask this cause the other roles in wordpress doesnt give him enough access to the things I will be having him do. Can someone weigh in on this

I do, but then again I trust my VA a whole lot. At the very least, create a new account that you can disable at any time "just in case"

I think this kind of task must be assigned to a Trustworthy VA like he is working for you for a long time.

I would recommend working with them for a while before you give them admin access to your website, because as of now you have no idea what quality of work they will produce.

I woud suggest that you give your new VA admin access to a feeder blog that drives traffic to your main money site.

As they prove themselves, you step up to admin access to your main blog.

It depends on how much you trust them.

Few of my clients are like users on their own website. They have handed over everything to me

Yeah, we did what others are suggesting. Gave him some tasks that didn't require admin access until we got a feel for him and how he worked, developed some trust, etc. It was still a minor hold-your-breath moment when we finally turned on full admin though.

Make your VA prove themselves and remember, hire slow, fire fast.

Others can advise you on the admin thing, but...

Why are you making your VA wear so many hats?
Not many people can multi task.

e.g. Getting my writer submit articles to blog directories is taking up a lot of her time. It's much faster if she just writes articles. The reason why I get her to do it is I want to let her see the purpose of the articles, so that she can write the way I want.

e.g. Getting my admin manager manage my huge network of blogs, and only that. Fix them, do backlinks and that's it.

So, while hiring your first VA may be a big step, you may want to evaluate the tasks you are giving him or her.

if you afraid, start small and give them small stuff. once you build trust, you can give them more.
