Rather a big subject to cover in one messagek as there are so many factors to consider.

The setting up Amazon products is the easy part. Amazon have widgets you put on your site as well straight links and images.

The hard work is how to make a success with being an amazon affiliate. Have you got large amounts of traffic coming to your site so that ypu can sell low ticket items but lots of them or are you going to try and sell high price ticket items?

There is lots of information here on the forum. I suggest you take some time to look at threads and try some different methods

    Kind regards

It's hard to make a lot of money as an Amazon affiliate, because the commissions they give you are pretty small.

The best way to do this would be to set up a good website and integrate your amazon widgets and affiliate links into the site.

It is going to take a lot of work, so keep that in mind.

It's not as hard as you think. If you sell a $200 product at 7% commission that's $14 per sale. Conversion rate anywhere from 5 to 10% You do the math.

Ps. It's just as easy to sell a $300 product than a $60 one.

I have dabbled with Amazon products and lots of them have name recognition which definitely helps but I was rather disappointed in their commission percentages. I know a few people who are making good money with Amazon but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule. If you do a little research there are several other affiliate programs that also have 'known' products that pay a much higher commission percentage.

Amazon is a great place for newbies to start. But you have to go about it the right way. You can search the forum for threads about selling on Amazon. Or you can save yourself weeks of messing around and just buy a course. I don't often recommend buying stuff but there are two or three Amazon courses that are actually very good. Look for something by Daniel Brock or Jan Roos.

I view Amazon as an 'extra side dish' on my affiliate sites rather than the main course. I use a plug in called 'product in a post' or something like that and I drop an Amazon product with link at the bottom of articles which are relevant to that product. Not on every post, just a sprinkling.

That plug in is actually the main reason I use Amazon. That, and its a name that the GP trust.

I sell some stuff with this but mainly small ticket so the income is nothing spectacular.

A couple people on the forum you might want to check out, (you can search for all posts by them)

LMC, Chris Guthrie, gpower2, and clickbump

These guys have all had some success with promoting products via amazon/other physical products.

There are many ways on making money with Amazon.

You can create and sell your own ebooks, or sell ebooks with resell rights. You can also become an Amazon associate and create your own astore in your blog or add some banners.

I could talk for ages about this subject, i even created a relevant ebook.

Why be an affiliate for Amazon products when other online products pay such a higher affiliate commission?

    7% commission vs. 70% commission?

I guess it all depends on what you promote, and how you promote them. Promote popular products, and create highly targeted and unique websites, use a bit of promotion (Article sites work well for this) and watch those 4-7% commissions add up

    Hi there

I think it's good to have a good mix. I have a range of blogs promoting clickbank products in a range of niches, physical products on Amazon, and physical products that aren't on Amazon.

Every revenue stream provides me a very health five figure monthly income that has allowed me to retire from the traditional work force and be a full time mum at home and wife.

IT's always a good idea not to have all your income in one pie rather than multiple pieces of the pie.

The most important thing is to get started, learn from people you trust, find a good mentor if you can and to stick with it and NOT give up.

Even though you may not see the income coming as quickly as you'd like doesn't mean it's not around the corner -- and if you give up then you'll lose that too.

have faith in yourself and believe in yourself and don't be afraid to invest in your online business empire either.
    regards

it is not easy to earn a lot on amazon, unless you have a own site to promote with the widget links.and you can earn some ads fees in your site and you can also get amazon commission with sales.

I like working with Amazon. I made a goodly little sum promoting Halloween stuff, now I've got a lot of gift sites that are already ramping up and making me money for Xmas.

The secret with Amazon is finding the right buying keywords and getting traffic. Amazon converts easy, which makes up for the lower commission. I know it's different for everyone, but for me, I find it easier to promote physical products that I know are going to solve someone's problem, or make them happy.

Yes your right, right keywords matters every time. I strongly suggest that taking low commission for being a newbie is good for the moment... It will help you to gain an income even it is low but the most important thing their is your learning how to work into amazon. And who knows that sooner you can earn high commission... Just don't demand to high... Their is always a process that we need to step on.

I have used amazon on 2 sites one was a site where the products are lower priced $3 to $300 dollars I was using an independent affiliate program on this site and one month the check didn't come I contacted the affiliate program got the run around got cheated out of about 400 worth of commission and chose to switch the promotions out to amazon because I would not have to worry about the checks being in the mail. The independent affiliate program paid 12% but my monthly income only dropped by about 25% due to higher conversions.

The other site was designed for use with amazon from the beginning the products on this site sell for $17,000 to $50,000. If I make one sale every month I am happy.

Due to the nature of the product I make 2 to 4 sales in the spring months and usually do not make any sales in Dec and Jan. 2 sales a month at even 17,000 sure puts a lot of beer on the table. This site Is the closest thing to set and forget I have ever had I literally have not touched this site in 3 yrs it only gets 6 to 8 very targeted visitors a day because that is all the search volume in this market.

It goes against everything any guru will tell you about IM. It has a whopping 3 incoming links and almost no search volume. I found the market because a friend of mine was in the industry that uses it and had me help him find one on the internet because he is not tech savvy. Then I watched him put $37,000 on a credit card for it. The product can almost never be found locally and has to be trucked in on an 18 wheeler and the people who need it depend on it for their income. The amazon affiliate program was the only place I could find to sell them from so yes for me it works great. This site took all of 2 days to make and market. Wish I could find 50 more markets just like it.

I include Amazon on all of my sites and make a few bucks but the big checks come from Clickbank, Paydotcom, and affiliate junction. The commission percent is a lot higher than Amazon.

My sales on Amazon were 20k last month. Of course, I actually sell products there, I'm not an affiliate. I don't see the point personally. I'm sure people are promoting my products but I wish they would get a hold of me instead, I'd pay them more than Amazon is paying them.

In the mid 90s I had a Bookstore site that used Amazon. I used to make about $100 quarterly ... it never did well. I did not maintain the site and it eventually dropped out of the engine results.

Today it seems a lot more involved that it was back then. I agree with what someone said above that the commissions are small ... but nonetheless, if you can drive a lot of traffic their way it will pay off in multiple commissions. I used to make $2,000 monthly off of $20 commissions in the online dating market.

  • I've heard mixed complaints with Amazon. I used to be with them but quickly dumped them. Ebay might be a better alternative for you as an affiliate set-up, but I don't like eBay much either(Fee - Bay).

1590 clicks this month, 57158 clicks this year, $2.44 commission....... (according to the report dashboard in "Associates Central.)"

I use it for eye candy, yet I was still a little surprised so many clicks did not result in a bit higher conversion (I'm assuming the visitor clicked because they were interested in the product).

Broad niches, different priced products, many sites, all organic traffic. I don't spend anytime on them (as evidenced by the dismal results).
