Without convincing samples, it would be very difficult to answer this. Pricing, for article writing, spans the gauntlet (from extremely high to extremely low) though. You will want to start researching what others are offering, and HOW they are offering it....

The answer you seek is not as simple as you may think. Some article writers demand $1.25 a word and they get it. You say "super quality", but by whose standards? Would Time Magazine consider publishing these super quality articles? If so, then you are looking at an article that could fetch up to $2 a word.

I can only assume that Time Magazine is not your target. So, what is your target? How do your articles compare to other works within that target market and what is the going rate of those articles? These are things that need to be considered when putting a price on your work.

The ultimate thing to consider is how much people are willing to pay for your work, because that is really the only way of putting a value on it.

Never ask your prospects what they will pay for your services.

Go see what other writers are getting in the Warrior for Hire section. Check out their samples and see if you can match the quality in order to ask the same rates or better.

Compare the rates from your competitors here on the WF, then figure out if you are going to price yourself as the cost-cutter or the premium provider, or somewhere in between...

Premium providers do not sell article writing within the WF for the most part.

Keep in mind that you can offer average or cost-cutter rates to build your reputation and to get testimonials, but the minute you change your prices up, all of your customers will abandon you...

Article writing is one of those niches where consumers will not follow you when you raise your prices... There are exceptions, but very few...

If you start out writing $10 articles and increase your rates to $20 an article, you will find yourself starting your business almost from scratch with each price increase.

So start where you need to to get testimonials, then raise your prices quickly to where you want to be to make a decent living.

It is actually better to build your business on a living wage, and offer discounts to get started, so that you can get the testimonials...

If you follow this path, you may find this niche to be very lucrative... If you bumble around trying to be the low-priced person in this niche, you will burn out quickly from overwork and low-pay...

I would do what I normally do. When selling a service look at your competitors compare and charge less or offer more or both! Also make sure you make a good reputation for yourself deliver your content on time and do not cheat anyone out.

You may find it tough to make a living at this. I have seen adequate articles for as little as $5. You may do OK if your customer wants one quality article for $10 and 10 spun versions for $2 each. In this case you may reel in $30 for a couple of hours work if your FAST!!!

I won't take spun work because it is tedious.

I would recommend you take up a specialization wherein you're a master.

You must not write in all niches but pick up only those niches where you think you are most comfortable and you could charge a decent price for the time and effort.

Pricing depends on the quality of service you provide and not what your competition is asking for. There are writers here who charge $2 and there are writers who charge $20 per article. It all depends on how you work around with your clients. Charging $10 for a normal 500 word article is standard to begin with.

You could offer some review copies wherein you could gain some review testimonials and use them to lure more customers to hire you as an article writer.

Remember, specialize in one niche rather than becoming a jack of all master of none. This way you could increase your career graph as an article writer pretty swiftly.

Ronak is absolutely correct ... find a niche and specialize.

Remember, each profession or occupation develops its own language, and if you are knowledgeable in a single or in a few fields, your quality will increase as you learn the "language" the professionals in that field use.

Agreed. And on top of that, different niches have different reader value.

You could charge a lot more for a top quality article about investing, for example, than an article about knitting.

I think of it like Adwords. Some keywords are worth 10$ and some keywords are worth 10 cents.. food for thought.

What do you think your writing is worth?

        What is your time worth?

Think about how long it takes you to write
a high quality 100 word article and think
about how much you want to be paid
        for your time.

Consider the research which can be
time consuming if it's a topic you know
        nothing about.

Set an objective for yourself and stick
        to it.

Use the law of attraction to only attract
those customers who have the money and
are willing to pay you what you ask.

Spend some time looking at what others
are offering and determine how you can
offer a better or more appealing service.

        Hope this helps a little...

Well that really depends on the niche of the article, but most of a quality article standard pricing is $1/100 words. I don't believe of $.50 cents / 100 words. that would be really waste. always remember that you will get what you have paid for.
