How Have You Made the Most Money Online?

This is a question of curiosity and is intended for entertainment purposes only. I personally believe that not every method is suited to everyone due to personal skill sets and interests. Many of us, myself included, use various methods of making money online.

I'm just curious where you guys make most of your money. This isn't a question of how you do it. Simply list the method that you've used that has generated you the most income, whether it be list building, product creation, blogs, review sites, mentoring programs, auction sites, etc. I'm sure I've left something, or quite a few somethings, out.

I've personally made the most money with EBay.

All in all - from Clickbank sales. Most in a month - from CPA and Facebook.

PPC to CPA is where I have made the most, then adsense from my blogs and sites.

I have several high quality lists that I have built.

    Freebie seekers yes!

But the real gold is in the people that have bought your stuff in the past.

Keep this list segregated, it is like having your a big virtual ATM machine sitting in your backyard. Viola.

Most of my money comes from Clickbank. The most money I've made in a month was from ebay back when they were a goldmine. There is still money there but it's not as easy to make as it used to be.

The key to making money on Ebay now a days is definitely product selection and being able to find a good wholesaler. Plus finding products that you can sell fast. I personally hate hanging on to inventory.

It sucks that so many wholesalers have gotten wise and brought their business onto Ebay. Definitely makes it harder for the little guy to turn a buck there.

I'm actually kind of an odd duck because I don't believe in putting all my eggs
      into one basket.

If I broke down all the ways I made money online, none of them, singularly,
would amount to much. But added all together, they come out to a nice
      chunk of change each month.

A list of things I do:

      Affiliate Marketing
      Product Creation
      Copywriting
      Coaching
Freelancing (if the money is just right, i.e. articles, reports, etc.)

The ways I promote all the above are numerous as well.

      Article Marketing
      List Building
      Forum Marketing
      Social Networking

I pretty much stay away from PPC. I used to do a little of it but found
that with all the content I've written (over 3,000 articles online at various
places) I didn't need to pay for traffic anymore. Of course, getting that
much content took a very long time.

I guess you'd say I'm a jack of many trades, a master of a couple and
good enough at the others to make them profitable.

Probably not the glamorous answer you were looking for, but it is what it
      is.

It was a good answer. I'm the same way. I have my hand in so many different pots it's not even funny. I have Adsense sites, review sites, blogs, build lists, have done a little bit of bum marketing, and have done link building and article writing for clients. I also have 13 different methods I use to market my websites. So, you're not alone.

Most of them aren't super profitable, but as you said, when you add them all up it gets the job done.

I've made the most money from google adsense, however my clickbank product did make quiet a few sales but I did not know much about article marketing six years ago. I am gonna revive my clickbank product and market it with my new traffic building techniques and see what happens

You know, I don't even think of Adsense as an income model. I do use
Adsense on my sites and do make some income from them, but for me,
that's just icing on the cake.

Saw a very clever use of youtube and seeing it static on page for autoresponder series.

So the guy was sending hundreds of people via autoresponder to a youtube video on a static page with adsense around. So he pays nothing for hosting, and money from his product and like you said icing on the cake with adsense.

There are so many ways to make money online, but I have made good money following people that have good models themselves and follow what they do. It works like a champ!

So far for me the most money has come from freelancing (mostly articles, but only if they agree to my price). I mainly get work from forums. I don't bother with those freelancing sites that much anymore as they always want to pay pennies and get gold. I also write at constant-content because once again I get to choose which rates I'll work for.

I'm working on building some niche sites with adsense. I also am in the process of building a site where I'll sell plr packs.

For me I make most of my money from affiliate marketing and the ebay partner network still works pretty well amazon has always been pretty good to me as well :-)

Then it would be from forums, I started a few forums about 5 years back and they make affiliate sales and ad space sales every week so thats pretty sweet.

Adsense is not my business model but like SW said its teh icing on the cake :-)

At the end of October my eBay Partner Network sites took a huge hit on EPC. Went from averaging 19 EPC to 2. Since Nov 1st I've managed to climb to a 6 EPC. Have you had any recent issues like this?

When the switch to QCP happened I took a massive hit in fact from hero to zero really.

My EPC floats around some months its desperate other months its fantastic. However I do not promote ebay anymore... in teh sense that I no longer build sites. I am pretty un happy with teh way they treat their affiliates and I am moving into other areas.

Another way I make money off the bat is from my forums.... If I am short of money or fancy spending a lot ie booking a holiday I will send one email/pm to the forum members offering them a service normally a quick website promoting their business :-) £350 a site with free hosting for teh first 2 years..... The best day was when I had 12 orders took my just over a week to complete.... I see it as hoaring myself out but....

The best thing about it is that I charge them £10 a month hosting and maintenance.... that itself is what I call nice residual income ;-) and quite frankly it takes almost zero work as most people dont want any changes at all

What a great question! and answers too. I am just starting out, with 4 niche affiliate sites so far, and no sales in 4 months!!! just not sure what's wrong, I use clickbank, Micro niche finder for keywords, articles, good plugins, I post youtube videos, SEO Pressor for onpage SEO. I am off to another seminar this weekend to get more skills. BTW has anyone used paydotcom? one of the affil. products seemed to move from clickbank to this organisation. Also am reapplying to ebay EPN every week! any tips for acceptance, I understand you just keep putting yourself at the door. Regards Kwendy

Jonathan Leger has a few really good products on Paydotcom. I'm going to start trying to promote them to my list and see how it turns out. I've heard a lot of bad stuff about marketers not paying their affiliates, so if you're going to promote from them I'd only promote products from marketers that your trust.

As for the EPN thing, it's a mystery to me. I'm an Ebay PowerSeller and have websites with very high traffic that I've submitted to them and they still won't accept me. Luck of the draw, I guess.

I was rejected on my first attempt a couple years ago, but my sites weren't complete and I didn't realize it was a manual review process. So, I gave it a couple weeks of building my sites out with more content, reapplied with an explanation of what happened the first time and how I planned on funneling traffic to them and they accepted me. Lately though I feel like the axe is coming. My EPC fell through the floor at the end of October and is slooooowly coming back up. Not sure if eBay likes me being around anymore!

I have really only had success with ebay, importing legit items and on selling them on to the end consumer. I haven't really dabbled in other forms of internet marketing as such, but it is great that there is a forum dedicated to making money on the net, awesome info to be found in the warrior forum.

I concur. They aren't that great to the people that sell through them either, hence why I've been looking at other avenues of making money online for quite a while now.

With Ebay, the customer is always right, even when the customer is wrong. I'd rather not deal with them.

The thought of getting into the EPN has always been enticing though, considering how well I've done with Ebay otherwise. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that their affiliate program is kinda crappy.

I've personally made the most money with EBay.
    2005 - Ebay
2006 - Ebay + Car Boot Sales (paying landowners and then selling plots of their land for people to sell on their crap and junk on a Sunday morning)
    2007 - Ebay + 10-15 page niche reports
    2008 - Niche InfoProducts
2009 - Niche Infoproducts + Ebay (Found a great niche!)
    2010 - Niche email marketing + infoproducts.
2011+ - I've got a couple of niches that I'm really passionate about (as are millions of others) but the demand is not there for digital infoproducts, so, I'm looking at building amazon / ebay affiliate sites to meet this demand.

In summary, I make my money offering solutions that solve people's problems and alleviate their pain.

    Garry.

My greatest income is from selling writing services.

I hate doing it. It's not even remotely the lifestyle I want. It's owning a job, not owning a business. It doesn't scale.

I'm trying to replace it with product creation and sales, but it's slow going and I keep eating into my product development time with work for clients to pay the bills.

It's really tough to stay down in the trenches making a couple hundred a week when you know you can make a little over a thousand with a slightly different activity. Keeping the long-term focus is not trivial.

You have a pretty good name for yourself around here. I've assumed for a while that you're on the rise with your product creation because everyone seems to like the things that you come up with. I'm confident you'll be digging yourself out of the trenches very soon, just keep plugging at it.

I definitely know how it feels to make a living doing what you hate. My second most profitable venture next to EBay has been link building for clients. Directory submissions and social bookmarking *cringes at the memories*. I think I'd rather panhandle than go back to doing that for a living, though the clients were all great, the business was definitely there, and the money was decent enough.

It's definitely making progress, just not at the level I want yet. I've been living in my parents' basement for close to a year now, barely managing to pay the bills most months, and certainly not pulling in enough to move onward and upward just yet.

Of course, I am still pulling in several hundred a month in passive income. It's a big mistake to overlook that and say "I am not where I want to be so I am nowhere." Even my writing clients are all product creation clients, not keyword articles and blog posts, so I can honestly say that all my income is from product creation.

And I could actually afford to buy my son a birthday present this year. That meant the world to me.

This is actually pretty close to where I am. I make good money freelance writing, but the grind is killing me. I'm moving over to product creation, which is actually kind of nerve wracking - it's a whole different animal doing the work when getting paid is questionable.

I mean yeah, I'm pretty awesome, so the odds are good that I'll be able to kick butt with the products, but what if I don't?

Actually, if you don't mind me asking, is your passive income from your products?

Sorry I missed this. There's a little stream of AdSense income from the research I did on Zombie Blogging, but product sales are the overwhelming majority of it.

My most profitable was ebay. I was using a website to help funnel interested people to my ebay sales.

I was selling items in a niche market that I purchased from a wholesaler. I was making $20 - $100 a sale and doing it 10-20 times a week.

Then I moved and lost my supplier. the niche is still there just to busy to get back to ebay (the shipping every week kind of blows).

Now selling digital software, Clickbank, amazon and adsense in order of profitability. But I am still learning and not making a 10th or hundredth of a lot of these guys.

Thinking about dropshipping and ecommerce. We'll see.

I know what you mean. At the height of my EBay selling, I was spending 12+ hours a day packing and shipping stuff. It was a real pain and started to feel more like a job than anything else.

I've never had any good experiences with dropshippers, but I hear there are some reputable ones out there . . . hiding under rocks somewhere where only a handful of people can find them.

Currently the most money I've made online has come from offering Web Graphic Design services, mainly minisites, ecovers, headers and squeeze page designs.

My wife on the other hand, within her first two months of IM, with NO EXPERIENCE made over 10,000 dollars on affiliate marketing with NO IDEA about what she was doing..........

Yes I have a copy of the check to prove it......

      WE spent it quickly..............

Well, right now she is studying and learning all that she can about SEO and Wordpress.

She also runs helps run her parents company full-time and we have a little 2 year old.

So, maybe eventually she can find time to do some type of WSO, but more than likely she will just keep what she did to make the money to herself....?

I used to do very well with flipping, but the bottom fell out of startup sites. I also used to do very well with AdSense, but my CTR has dropped and the CPC I was getting has dropped, so now it doesn't do so well. ClickBank and Amazon have done fairly well for me, but I haven't had time recently to pursue them well.

Overall, freelancing has been the best thing for me.

Ebay has made the most money for me. I have been a seller for years, and used to sell my artwork for more than I could have made offline.
I also made $5000 in one week (similar amounts over about 3 weeks) until ebay pulled my item, and paypal froze my account!

I always thought that artwork was a bit hard to sell on EBay. I see some really good original works on there going for a few dollars, and I know it took the people who created them hours or days to produce.

Why did EBay pull your item and PayPal freeze your account? Just curious.

I did decorative art, most popular were copper boilers that I used to pick up from weekend classifieds and garage sales for about $20, would paint with an Aussie theme eg kookaburras or possums, and sell for $350. People would buy them to put on their verandahs and use them as ice buckets for parties, they were great as they had a tap and drain Haven't touched a paint brush for about 7 years, as I got burnt out and lost the motivation for it

I was selling Zumba dvd sets that I would have dropshipped from China, I sold about a thousand over a 3 week period. A competitor must have dobbed me in (heaps of listings are still active from other sellers) and ebay pulled the listing as it was a breach of copyright. Paypal froze my account as they were suspicious about the sudden large influx of funds going in.
It was really difficult to unfreeze the account and took months.

Impressive. There's usually a market for something unique. Sorry that you got burnt out.

I hear this happens quite frequently. It's sad, but not surprising considering that EBay owns PayPal.

In internet marketing terms I have having the best success with Amazon niche site. Typical sales are $200-£700 per sale with 4% commission for each sale.

CPA is makignme peanuts by comparison, I cant sell a single clickbank product - too difficult to sell - worse than CPA.

In non internet marketing terms I have made more money than anywhere else on lotteries. I know its frownded up on but ive made a fair bit on them but u need to know what you are doing.

So you mainly make money from Adsense?

Clickbank is a beast. I've always had a hard time selling their stuff. I'm trying out something new now so hopefully that will work.

Mine has by far been domain sales to end users, 1 transaction matched 1/3 my annual salary which is above average.
Working on 2 other sales at the moment that should happen prior to Christmas and will match my yearly income when combined with the previous transaction.

I love the Internet and what it has to offer,

I quite honestly haven't tallied each method I use to see which pays more, as it comes from so many sources and there is some overlap, but I've been having good results with CPA, offline marketing and also consulting/coaching clients.

Clickbank and SEO... I have a bloger blog that I stripped out and created to look like the affiliate site itself. Got a redirect domain and removed the nav bar.

I used to promote PPC with the same product and then I stopped. After a while I just stopped promoting it all together.

Then the site started to get traffic from the serps ... And started making sales without even promoting the prodcut anymore. I'm working on something else right now but I'll start to go back to it when I have more time...

Now that I think of it I guess it was kind of like the gsniper method, only that I wasn't using wordpress and I wasn't trying to 'snipe' anything.

I mean I hardly have any backlinks to the site at all...LOL
