May my wife buy using my affiliate link?

Hello Warriors!

My wife is about to start building her first list. I'm an AWeber affiliate partner. May she use my affiliate link to sign up to AWeber? I mean, I may not buy any AWeber service using my own affiliate link, but my wife has the same surname and home address like me. Wont it be some kind of violation of the Affiliate Agreement?

In many cases family (and occasionally even friends) may not use your links. I'd suggest you contact aweber and ask the directly

Sorry pal, I believe it is against the rules the surname will be too obvious to them.

Just use another credit card with different name on the card. Should be all right.

Exactly, lie to the credit card companies and get a card with someone elses name. Nothing will go wrong there

Always good to see the usual Warrior Forum wide range of opinions.

Personally, I'll be astonished if it's a problem at all (and it would clearly be very bizarre indeed for your next-door neighbor to be acceptable in circumstances in which your spouse wouldn't be!?!), but do you think it might be a good idea simply to ask Aweber, rather than inviting fellow forum-members to guess what they're going to say?

I don't think AWeber will accept it as many have said. I understand it's against rules, but I have to check all possibilities to save some money

Caleb Spilchen, thanks for your idea, I had to think about it myself )))

If she would be using a different IP it probably wouldn't be a problem, but they will see that you have the same IP and will not allow it. My opinion.

    Well, someone could just ask.

Time to resolve: 3 minutes via Aweber chat.

I asked exactly that question - from the chat session:

Ryan (last name removed for privacy) : As long as her account is in her name, yes. If she uses your name under that account we will not be able to provide credit.

Me: OK... we have the same credit card number - different cards with our own names - will that be ok?

Ryan (last name removed for privacy): Yes, that should be okay.

SO, the answer is YES. She has to use her own name though.

    All success,

    Gary

People don't like doing that, though: much more fun to seek a lot of uninformed opinions and guesses from people who have no direct experience of the question than go to an authoritative source.

Luckily I'm far too tactful and discreet to say "I told you so". But really - how could it possibly have been otherwise?!?! :p

I can't believe the number of people will to make up answers and post them as fact these days!

Your wife is an individual in her own right and can buy under her own name from any affiliate she chooses...including you.

Glad to see some wiser heads prevailed and provided a REAL answer -but it's a good example of why it's best to go to the source for infor rather than asking on a forum
