I want to start selling some Amazon products, particularly laptops, on my site. Is anything wrong with it? Can a Nigerian do it? Or do I have to partner with someone in the US, Canada or UK?

Please I need some clarifications.

Thanks.

I would check with Amazon to see if they have restrictions for certain countries. If they don't you shouldn't have an issue with selling their products on your site.

      Hi Leslie,

I'm going through the site right now but I can't seem to find any information related to restrictions.

So, I don't really know if I should or should not sell such products.

As long as you're able to sign up for the affiliate program, I can't see any reason for not to be able to promote any product...you're just promoting it, you aren't doing any drop shipping or order processing, so I think it's safe to go..

If you can't find them in the TOS then you can sign up. Or if you really want to be sure, you can contact them yourself and ask it, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Nigeria is on the drop-down list of countries when you go to sign up. Shouldn't be a problem.

You also want to make sure you can cash the cheques. I am from the UK and even though Amazon has a UK program, I mainly sell on the US site. For some reason they won't pay me in any way other than a cheque if you don't have a US based bank account (apart from gift vouchers), so I have to cash the USD cheques at the bank here in the UK (for a cost!)

Sorry to hijack the thread here but just wanted to know if you sell via the US because the lead conversion is better Ruth? I have both a US and UK associate account and I've been trying to figure out what's best to use...

Sorry again King Shiloh to jump in on your thread - for my two cents I say you're good to sign up but I would heed Ruth's warning about payment.

Yes, double check the payment options... no point making lots of money but cannot get it out... happened to me on one of my affiliate programs from UK several years ago, took me almost 2 months to sort it out and finally they sent me a cheque in UK Pounds. Had to take another 4 weeks to get that check banked. With my meagre earnings online, that really killed me.

Yeah I do it because there is more scope with the US market - that said I don't yet have many UK-targeted sites and sometimes I feel I should do more as there may be less competition. So I guess it depends really lol!

You will have to cheque with your bank account. Natwest charged £10 last time I talked to them, but of course the banks may offer different exchange rates too so sometimes it may be worth paying a fee if the exchange rate is more in your favour.

You can also use Auctionchex - Online auction payments exchange and escrow service - it's useful if you need the cash faster (banks can take a month or maybe more) but the exchange rate again may not be the best.

I've recently heard about this too and it seems like a very good idea! So many times I've clicked through Amazon review sites onto Amazon.com but ultimately they won't get that commission because I end up buying from Amazon.co.uk

Thanks Ruth! I'm probably going to try and push more co.uk due to my visitor demographic changing - plus - less hassle to have payments cashed.

Hi Patricia - very interesting! Is the plug-in for something like wordpress or is it a code you manually had to install?

It's a wordpress plugin but I believe that it can also be done with html. I saw that somewhere when I did a search for information about the plugin.

Is it a free wordpress plugin?

Why don't you just try signing up?

Either you can or you can't.

This is one of those questions that is best answered by trying it. It will only take a few moments, and then you will know for sure.

    All the best,

According to one of their sign up pages, "Note: Residents of Colorado, North Carolina or Rhode Island are not eligible to participate in the Associates program." But like Michael said:

Trying signing up for the Amazon Partner program. If they accept your application, then there really shouldn't be any issues.

    Thanks all!

I just signed up and my application has already been approved.

I'm considering the check option as my payment option because I don't have a US bank account though I have a domiciliary account.
