Google Translate masking affiliate links?

I suppose the general perception is that one can gain click-throughs and conversions via google translate. But apparently all links (including images) on a translated page have forms like "http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=en&tl=de&u=PAGE_URL&prev=_t&rurl=translate.go ogle.com&twu=1&usg=PLDJrhfnm57l_5hAgCtzgc_1n6Dl5Om ZNT".

First I though these may be redirects but when you click on a link the translate.google url structure is maintained.

So does that mean if such a masked link was an affiliate link, no goodie comes my way? Was it always this way?

To give an example what I mean. Here's an amazon page translated in Swahili (to make it fun):
Google Translate

As you can see all the links are masked. And the kicker is that even if you have a framebuster javascript in place (like I do) google translate still manages to translate the page and mask all the links. You just dont see that frame on the top.

So please share your insights if Im right about this. Because most geo-targeting (via images and such) goes out of the window then, at least when relying on google translate. No?
