Yahoo Answers is seriously run by idiots

I was on yahoo answers and there was a question asking if "cash gifting" was legal or not. I answered no it was not and it was a scam, that's it. Next thing I know my account is suspended because of that answer!

I got an email which said my answer was deleted, was against yahoo answers community guidelines or whatever and my account is suspended!

Can someone explain this? I am totally lost. I just can't fathom why saying a scam is a scam get my account suspended?

Reminds me of how EZA is so inconsistent with their approvals... article disapproved, resubmitted with no changes, and approved???

They need to set some GUIDELINES and post them to every worker's monitor!

So ridiculous. I understand where you're coming from, no wonder why you're "annoyedgirl", I should be "annoyedguy".

They're quickly turning into wikipedia where the numbnuts run wild with deleting relevant posts...largely, I suspect, due to the increase in people spamming them.

Remember also that the very "asker" themselves could also be a "gifter" trying to generate publicity of their own.

"Asking" if gifting is legal is a common strategy these types use.

Then responding with dozens of pseudo-names singing the accolades.

        I agree Eric.....

Obviously someone who thinks it's a legit scheme, complained
        about your post....

maybe the owner of yahoo answers makes money with cash gifting, so he dosen't want it to get a bad rep.

I once got kicked out of a casino for telling my friend the black jack dealer was trying to cheat him

I've been to quite a few casinos in my life. I recently went to Seneca in New York... A couple of dealers tried to scam me out of my money! I couldn't believe it. I told a pit boss and they changed dealers.

I won't get into specifics about what they did but it was on the craps tables. You have to be careful and pay attention.

Yeah it's run by idiots, I posted a question sometime ago and it was deleted saying it violates the terms. I asked what was wrong with it since it doesn't violate any terms as I've read it, they just replied with a canned response saying the same thing.

Do any actual humans work at yahoo?

I sent an email asking what was the violation about saying "no, its not legal" but I'm sure I'll get the automated canned response too.

Yeah I bet the asker was into cash gifting and just trying to find new suckers to send them money but I took it as a sincere question.

There is a lot of crap there and rude ppl yet I'm suspended for saying "no its not legal". If any actual human works at YA they should be able to see nothing was wrong with that answer. Otherwise I'm never going back to that idiot run place again

I don't recommend black hat techniques but if they did that to me I'd be tempted to just create dozens of accounts and continue posting whatever the hell I want.

I can't believe you got booted for posting the truth. A quick search online will reveal countless news stories of people getting into big trouble with the law for being involved in cash gifting programs. A couple of years ago there was big news of the "women helping women" opportunity in my area. There were dozens of career women ie. lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, accountants, etc that were all arrested for being involved in this. (Yes even attourneys were naive / ignorant enough to get involved.)

I think you're doing a public service by warning people, who are probably desperate for income, to stay away from these programs and yet Yahoo Answers bans you. Unbelievable...

That's a good question; it has been believed for a very long time that no actual humans were involved in Yahoo. People used to have weird (sometimes serious) issues with the old Yahoo Message Boards, which were overrun by trolls and the like. Couldn't get Yahoo to do ANYTHING about it. Not until probably thousands of people threatened to sue, I suppose. Eventually, they shut them down completely.

Talk to Yahoo about what happened and get your account reinstated.

They made a mistake, and they will fix it if your can make a compelling argument on it. Just be professional and explain everything calmly.

Been through this before, and it's what I do every time some whackjob claims the same thing on me.

Hmm. I just started answering questions on yahoo answers after starting Jeremy's IM bootcamp. I was already noticing that there were a lot of crackpot responses, and people being given negative ratings for perfectly correct answers. Just did a search for cash gifting on the site and discovered several 'best answers' directing people to cash gifting sites. I've left a comment on the 'tell us what you think' page at yahoo answers. Might be worth reporting the more egregious cash giving sites to the IRS. Don't they have some kind of bounty for turning in tax frauds? Another income stream! ;-)

I've been very conflicted about the Yahoo! Answers strategy. On one hand, providing relevant, accurate answers to questions people have is a great way to create credibility and get visitors. On the other hand, most of who seem to be using it are scam artists trying legitimize crap.

It kind of reminds me of Digg where it seems like mob rule.

That is almost certainly exactly what happened. So many people on there are now planting their questions so they or their partners can answer in the affirmative.

Its getting more and more about the marketers and less about sharing actual information. And they will jump on you BUT let tons of answers remain that are nothing more than blatant pitches and links to their favorite MLMs.

    This happens everyday there.

Cash Gifting to me always looked a bit dodgy.

Isn't is simply passing cash from one person to another until someone is left with no cash????

Maybe I am wrong - please enlighten me if I am not.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The people involved in the scam would have you believe that it's no different than any other business. Someone spends money, someone recieves money and the fact that they call it a gift means that you don't need to actually exchange a product or service for the money you recieve or even pay any taxes on it.

Sounds great, but it's just another version of a Ponzi scheme and it is illegal. There's no way that everyone involved can make a profit. Eventually you run out of new greedy suckers to fall for this garbage and the last people to get in on it are the ones that lose the most money. I'm sure a few people at the top are making a fortune but they want you to think that anyone who gets involved is going to be receiving huge piles of cash. -- Good luck with that!
