Video marketing advice needed

Hello all

I have recently been hearing a lot of people rant and rave about the power of video marketing and I am looking to give it a shot.

I am simply planning on converting my written articles into videos but am uncertain of what exactly comes next and the best ways to maximize traffic to them.

Does anyone know of some good sites to post them on or submit to?

Any advice on the subject at all is greatly appreciated.

Heres the key to video marketing, "Backlinks", use a service like ODesk or Backlink Team to get lots of high quality somewhat relevant backlinks to the video. I would focus on blog and forum commenting as they will drive traffic to the video as well. Just make sure the backlinks are on blogs and forums related to your niche as you want relevant traffic who will leave comments and rate the video. Hope that helps

Title – Make sure your keyword is in the title. Start the title off with the keyword. “Dog Grooming – 3 Tips For Grooming Your Dog”
Look through some of the most viewed articles at EzineArticles to get some great title ideas.

Description – The description should start off with a link to your site or offer and then followed by a sentence using your keyword or phrase. You can add the keyword a couple of more times in your description but make sure you don't obviously “keyword stuff”.

Tags – Put your keywords in first and then add other related keywords. You can find related videos to yours and look at their tags and use the same tags to compete with them for those keywords.

The other elements that go into a high ranking video are:

Views – The more your video gets views, the better. Not just for you but your rankings too.

Ratings – Those little thumbs just below the video.

Comments – Youtube looks for people talking about your video.

Subscribers – The people that like your channel.

External Links – Backlinks to your video url. Other sites that are linking to your video.

    Places to submit your videos:

    Myspace
    MySpace

    Yahoo Video
    Yahoo! Video - It's On

    MetaCafe
Metacafe - Online Video Entertainment - Free video clips for your enjoyment

    Viddler
Viddler.com - Grow your brand with online video

    Revver
    Revver Video Sharing Network

    Tubemogul
TubeMogul.com | Online Video Distribution, Analytics and Advertising Platform
you can upload one video to Tubemogul to have it sent or "shared" to other video sites automatically.

          Hi B and B,

Matt gave you great tips,i give you now 2 killer tips to SUPERCHARGE your videos:

          1) Build a campaign: if you want greater reach and exposure, you must create a series of content-rich videos to publish regularly.

          2) Include a Call to Action: at the end of your videos don't forget to ask your viewers to take some action like "go to visit a specific website","sign up for my newsletter" or "visit my blog"!
This works if your video is great and you will have their complete attention!

Remember also to choose a MAGNETIC title for your videos using the appropriate keywords and you will receive tons of traffic!

            Hello Devid,

question pls if i may...not about youtube though

            pls bear with me here...

I signed up for a free account in tube mogul. I've checked the different
video services eg daily motion, etc and it looks like there isn't a way you can put your backlink on it...

If you had to edit the video to put a call to action or any clickable link, the service actually converts the video into another file. So basically, any promo that is in that layer is gone...

Maybe I am missing something here....but I'd rather ask this stupid question now if I am to go further with video marketing...

What is it with tube mogul that attracks marketers? I mean, you can use
it to distribute your videos, right? But what is the point if you can't even
put anything on them ( that doesn't get removed by the services) ...?

Yup. what you're after are the links an the number of people it can bring to your site. Matt already gave you the components that make your video appear on search engines. the thing i can advise is to make sure you'll grab the best points on your article and use it on the vid. the shorter content with the greatest impact, the better. and since you have subscribers, you can say they are the primary source of your traffic since they will visit your site from time to time every time you uploaded a new file. make sure to continue posting your videos since you have subscribers who are looking forward to your presentation. keep them within your network.

Does anybody here know what is going on with Revver? First I noticed a long time that they didn't pay their promised revenue split on advertisements... now they are offline for ages.

    Any clues?

Like others have said; tubemogul and traffic geyser are good, even just promoting a youtube video is very easy and very effect. I think it is actually more effective as it is impossible to get sandboxed for doing to much in a short space of time.

Well, a few good ways are...

As mentioned, build backlinks to your videos. Sites like youtube can rank very highly in short space of time in google results

Look for current videos related to your niche that are getting a very large amount of hits, make sure they are fairly new and copy all of their tags along with your keywords. This can get you to show up in the related videos when people look for them and get a lot of views

On the back of the above technique, post your video as a video response to a high traffic related video. Get it right and you can get a lot of hits from that.

Consider contacting people who own high traffic channels related to your niche and offering them some money to link to your video in their comments or description boxes. I once got about 9,000 views, 700 hits to a site and £220 in sales from one $10 mention on a high profile channel.

As other people have said, post your videos to related blogs and forums

Look on the various Q&A sites like yahoo answers for questions that could be answered with the information in your video and post a link

        Hope this helps!

Don't forget to watermark and/or annotate your videos so that your viewers are very clear about what website you want them to visit. This will tie in nicely with the call to action, and should help to significantly increase the response/conversion rates of your videos.
