Mobile Marketing - Anyone have any success?

I've seen one of the biggest things at the moment is mobile marketing. Has anyone had any success with it they want to share?

I'm certainly no expert (and haven't paid for any courses which is a big change for me), so wanted to know if it's worthwhile investigating. Maybe it's just me but at the moment I don't see how it can be worthwhile as you can't buy stuff over your cellphone.

Is it more just for lead generation?

Thanks

Greg

I havent tried it either, but with time I think this kind of things will be more or less montizes. But for now the things you can use your mobile for is pay-per-call (direct calling ex to a local business where you get paid as a marketer), pay per ad, banner ads, watching videos, for people to opt in. And one of the things you can buy is ex. ringtones where you can download right away. Even heard that you can buy from amazon. More stuff will come, and it it will become on of the big boom'er in the next few years when people are starting to realize how big this is

I've never actually seen someone say that they have done mobile marketing, maybe I'm just unaware. It just seems so spammy, personally I get pissed when I get texts like that.

sure tons of marketers are killing it with mobile marketing. there are many CPA offers specifically for mobile.

in my offline business we marketing mobile sites to local businesses - a different model but definitely catching the mobile wave. businesses know it's hot right now. it's a great, fast way to land a client and open the door for future business.

The big buzz with Mobile marketing is all to do with the recent massive uptake of smart phones, (Iphones, androids, etc) Google has recently bought admob.com which is a dedicated mobile advertising company.

The thing to get your head around isn't how you can market using txt (that's almost old school, and many countries have strict mobile spamming laws) but marketing ads when people do searches on their iphone. For example when someone is out and about and they're looking for local indian restaurant, they do a Google search on their iphone, and in the 'sponsored links' is a 'geo targeted indian restauant business' who also happens to have a click to call link (this calls the restaurant)

Mobile Marketing will be huge, and we are just at the ground floor of this industry. Just think, there are practically 2 mobiles for every internet connected computer, so the potential is enormous, especially when you consider you also hardly go anywhere without your mobile these days.
