Are you thinking like your buyer?

I was writing this for part of my autoresponder and thought this would be useful for anyone starting out. I hope you find it useful.

Best regards

Are you thinking like a buyer?
What I'm talking about is putting yourself in the shoes of a buyer.
Ask yourself these few questions:
How do I search for products and what makes me buy?
You see when you know the answer to this, it makes it easier to
for your visitor decide if it's the right choice for them.

What keywords are you targeting? Are they super generic or
laser targeted? Personally as a consumer, I would like to base
my judgement on the amount of information I could find when I
land on a site. Site with little content don't do it anymore and it will
only results in the visitor finding another site for more information.
You will then have lost that tracking cookie to another website that
has bothered to put the effort into the review.

So yes you can have the best targeted keyword but if your site
fail content wise then you've just wasted your efforts. Make it your
aim to provide the best content that will help / inform your visitor
so that they don't have to go anywhere else for it.

The best way is to treat your customer is as if they were your family.
You wouldn't give your family half hearted advice now would you?
Provide the best content as possible and you'll be rewarded with
more clicks on your affiliates and more sales.

This all seems obvious, from a customer point of view. We expect
good customer service when we go shopping on the high street
so why not give it online as well. Too many of my past students
were happy to provide below par content just for the sake of content.
No wonder the sales were low. If we treat our visitors like gold then
we'll be rewarded with sales.

On was on another non IM forum and one user complained that
every time he searched for product, they were all affiliate sites telling
him to buy here buy there when all he wanted was an good site for
more info about the product.

This just goes to show that as marketers, we really need to stop
thinking about how much money this can make but more about
the user experience. Without good user experience, you'll be making
little to no money.

Apologies for this long email but I felt this is really important when
starting an online business. Just because we don't have physical
contact with the visitor doesn't mean you should ignore how they feel.

Very true! If you don't put yourself in the shoes of your buyer, you or your sales copy may never inspire them to buy.

I think some of us need to go back and read this book, How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.
