what to charge for memberships

So I am having trouble figuring out what to charge for my website. I was thinking $10 dollars per month for extra articles, How-To's, videos, and other offers. What do others usually charge for this stuff? I figure $10 is affordable for others but enough to make me a decent amount of cash.

Test it out, my friend. Split testing is the only way to know for sure what people are willing to pay for your material.

It depends on how much content/videos you offer + the quality of the products. If you are confident about it, first try the amount you are happy about it. Promote and sell ... Get some testimonials from your buyers.

Hmm well I was going to offer a membership Area along with some technical tools and possibly an extra page added onto the newsletter.

Offer it at double whatever you think you should. If you were thinking $10/month then offer it at $20/month and see how it goes. If you are getting enough sales then raise the price for new members. If you are not getting sales then slowing start dropping the price but no less than $10/month.

If you are getting any sales at all at a certain price point you SHOULD NOT drop the price. Wait until you are not getting any sales at all to start dropping the price.

If you can sustain some price point over $20/month you may want to start offering an affiliate program to MEMBERS ONLY. Its a completely different market and I charge a lot more per month but if you offer 50% commissions to current members you will start to see your community grow.

$20 a month? that seems a little steep. All I am going to offer is extra stuff. Later on I might charge more, when I put in a forum and i might also offer software and tech support.
oh and mad.hat I am not talking about a product sales page. I am talking about an informational website about computer security.

Seems to me that you will need to have some really good information that is in demand. This is key! If it's just information that is probably available elsewhere, you'll have a hard time getting anyone to spend money to get it.

After all the internet is the information super highway ... information wants to be free! ... and in many, many cases ... it is. Sometimes you can organize the information, present it in a more simplified fashion or assemble it into a eBook to make it easier for people to understand. Or outlines and instructions on how to do things where the information is available, but the instructions are hard to understand.

I think you are embarking on a difficult road.
