My Black Friday through New Years Challenge for Newbies

This isn't a long term strategy, but something you can make money from now, without a website.

The period from Thanksgiving to New Years is THE most lucrative time of year for offline retailers. Some make 50% or more of their total yearly sales during this period! Think Macy's and Walmart...If you can't make money now you need to be flipping burgers!

Think of niches that peak at this time of year. Christmas presents are a given, but here's a few freebies for you:

Stop Smoking
Weight Loss
Goal Setting
Make Money
Dog Training (strange but true)
Resolutions (no brainer there)

I'm not going to give you the results of my day's research for free, but think about:

The stress at christmas, dozens of things, affording presents, the inlaws, lame ass parties
Gift Ideas for people you hardly know
gifts for your kids
gifts for your husband
gifts for gift swaps with co-workers
budget gifts

You don't need a website for this...write articles and post at any of a gazillion article sites, don't spin the articles - backlinks be dammed, you want readers!

Use Squido as your landing page, they let you sell all kinds of affiliate stuff as "modules" and they're PR8 - just learn their TOS, might take a day tops to learn their system. There's also hubpages and blogspot.

I did some research tonight and found 23 long tail buyer keywords with less than 76K competiton and only 7 were over 20K, most were dominated by squidoo and articles. Go after this market and learn a few skills and make a few bucks.

Then after the first of the year you can use your funds to kick-start your internet business!

Just a brainstorm for you guys, I intend to follow up on this and I'll help if I can, but you need to get up off your...chair...and do something with this!

Steve

Nice simple plan. I just did a bit of keyword/niche research in the morning and I found a frigging good keyword. Honestly I don't know why it is untapped (only 5k allintitle competition) and has 40k global monthly exact searches. Of course, I'm not going to share it here

Thanks for the Resolution niche idea as well. That's probably the next niche I'll be working into.

Hi there, complete newbie here as you can probably guess, I know how to check for global searches in Google but how do I find out about competition? sorry to ask such a basic question but your help would be appreciated!

I think focusing on those niches is a good idea because it gives a little more time to get going (they will still be hot well into the new year) and the niches will ultimately be evergreen rather than just seasonal i.e. working on the hot toys of 2010 will leave the content old and unusable after a few months as opposed to stop smoking which will always be in demand.

And, even though it may seem as though everyone is on those niches, there are still keywords to be had like you said
