Does it matter about the extension? (i.e. .com .info .us .in)

Also, can one domain name be used for multiple redirects? (With subdomains or directories?)

Could I use topic1.mydomainname and topic2.mydomainname for separate redirects?

    No. Redirects can be implemented no matter which extension is used..
