$1 Domain Names - New GD Code

Buy a domain name at GoDaddy for only $1.00 by entering promo code GOBBLE in your cart.

I verified this works on 11/18/2010 11AM PST

Note: If anything extra is added to your cart as extras (trial offers, etc..), you can just remove it

Excellent! Thanks for posting this. I love the $1 domain deals at GoDaddy! I' always pick up something that's been sitting on my list of domains to buy when these deals come along.

Good deal but must use a credit card - no Paypal and can only get 1 domain at this price. And yes you will have 'stuff' to delete from the cart - can't blame Godaddy for trying though. Guess it's time to fire up another Godaddy account.

I would have to use Paypal as well, thanks anyway. Do you know if namecheap has a good one.

Thanks for sharing. This is not new or first time from GD, they always give away these promos.

Internet is full of GD promos, just make a search with "GoDaddy Promo Codes" and see the results.

I used these promos in my almost all purchases so far.

As a reminder, when you add the "gobble" code, it automatically adds a free trial to Website tonight to the cart. That renews after 30 days for $4.99 per month. You can just click the 'remove' button when it pops up. But if you forget or didn't notice, when you get the bill for $4.99, just call them and they will quickly refund and cancel that service for you.

I love these $1 domain names!

Another way to do this is to go into your GoDaddy account and look under "My Products" for Website Tonight. Select it and you'll see your free trial. Select that and choose Cancel - you will need to confirm this using the button on the right side of the page.

And that removes Website Tonight and the recurring billing.

Good to know, especially as they will likely have another coupon in a few weeks for Christmas.

The upsells have been getting increasingly sneaky lately, especially from what I'm hearing in here. I'm well versed with the whole checkout process now, and remove everything from the cart until I only see the domain I want in there.

I have 2 goDaddy accounts and last time I talked to them on the phone, the guy sent me instructions on how to transfer domains, so I can just get the domains you buy from a new account and transfer them to your main account. This way you have everything organized in one place.
PM if interested, and I'll send you the link.

Looks like I'll have to be like the old Grandma's, always waiting to buy the specials.
I might need to be better organised. But I tend to buy domains when you have just found the next big niche(at least you thought you have) and don't want to wait.

This seems like a nice deal, but if you want domain privacy it's another $10+ on top, so in the end it's cheaper to go to someone like namecheap, isn't it?

From what I can tell, you can't buy a second $1 domain with a different account. It has to be a different credit card as well.

I see no reason why it shouldn't, as long as the domain has already expired and is showing as available in Godaddy.

I believe you're referring to "expired" as in dropped domains...I was asking about "expired" as in domains that are still within their redemption and grace period....

( if confused, see my diagram from this thread just so i know we're on the same boat here)

Using your definition of "expired", you'd obviously not be able to pick up that domain at the special $1 price, at least not until it was completely dropped.

Thanks for clearing that up @ paulie888. Well actually, many confuse dropped domains to expired ones. For the purpose of this thread, a dropped domain basically loses its "age" and resumes the status of being available for registration just like a brand new domain name.

An "expired" domain ( within its redemption and grace period), doesn't. If you purchase it and its age is say, 6 y/o as per WHOis, it remains 6 y/o even when acquired by a new owner. And that my friend is not my own definition of "expired" ...if in doubt, just Google it
