Hi Allen and Fellow Warriors,

Wow! I have to say it just hit me how much I am LOVING all of these new advertising opportunities at the forum...

Banners, sig banners, text links, affiliate listings, and that's on top of the WSO and Classified sections.

These are real opportunities.

Okay, enough gushing. Thanks Allen!

All the best,
Michael

      Dawn.
      Sure thing, Dawn.

There have been many new ways to advertise here on the forum in the past few weeks. Each of these new methods, combined with the ones we already have, are an opportunity for all of us.

It's awesome. And while some people may take longer to get used to it, I'm lovin' it!

Anyways, what kind of advertisement your trying to mean? Is it google adsense or other ads? Or especially made for warrior member?

While the opportunities have multiplied, now your advt copy has to really stand out to get that click.

      Hi Dawn,

Yes, these are ads just for Warriors and are only displayed her in the Warrior Forum. They are relatively new for those of us who have been around for a while.

Yeah man, ads are awesome stuff. To be honest I was annoyed by the overwhelming ads all around WF, when there were none before this. But when I think about it from a marketers' POV, its like a goldmine. Especially when there're 5000-8000 active members at peak hours... 2000 at the least. This is second best to PPC! (Maybe even better)

    Thanks Allen!

      Hi Cathy,

I deleted that one kinda for your own good..:-)

That thing was strong, a little too strong. I can tell you one thing, if I'm ever in court and need someone on my side I'm sending you a first class plane ticket to be there!

Thanks, I need saving from myself more often than you know.

I am just glad that there is a thread that can show the support these new changes needed. I have seen more negative comments and the positive ones needed more airtime.

P.s. The new adwords style ads I am seeing ... I cant see where to do those any where ?

Allen, it's great that you're introducing all these new advertising opportunities, this forum has become fresh and exciting all over again - sometimes you really have to shake things up a little to break out of the monotony and stagnation! There are so many amazing new opportunities now for us to market our products and services, and that is always a good thing.

Every visit to the forum is an adventure! What will Allen do next? Oh hey, there's now a box around the text ads. Yes, that looks much better - without the box I was getting confused that the ads signaled the end of the thread.

It makes me wish I sold IM products so I could take advantage of the opportunities myself.

Personally, I'm not much of a "shopper" these days. I guess I sort of shop like a guy. If I'm shopping I know what I'm looking for, I go get it and shopping routine is complete. It's sort of like a military exercise.

But that being said, I have to comment that the additional adverts are not overwhelming or annoying. I don't feel like a page is a minefield and I'm not searching for a clear space to click so I can scroll... so it's all cool with me... and if it's making warriors, the WF, Allen and all some cash while providing opportunities for folks, including info-seeking newbies, then that's all cool...

What I love is that Allen Says keeps giving me news articles to write about.

Every time he makes a change or addition to the forum, I'm cranking out a
        500 word article on it.

Maybe Allen would like to hire me as a PR person?

That may be true, but it seems to me that you're implying advertising doesn't work on you. I beg to differ.

Unless you only buy generics, or never look at brands, or don't consider price, or even care which store you go to to get your goods, then advertising has an impact on what you buy; even if it's only at the subconscious level.

Perhaps the ads here won't be noticed consciously by most people, but they will register in one way or another, in my opinion.

Whatever the case may be, I'm glad you don't find the new advertising opportunities to be too annoying. I have to be honest and say I didn't like the new banner ads at first. Not because people were advertising, but because it was a change, that's all. But then when I saw the newest ad blocks, I was struck by how great these new things are and just felt compelled to post.

        All the best,

I thought this thread was going to be about McDonalds.

As mentioned, these are good opportunities for advertisers, buyers and even copywriters. Whenever an ad really catches my eye, I take a moment to figure out what made it so compelling that I couldn't rip my eyes away from it. I hope the advertisers are tracking their ads.

          Cheers,

I'm not cracking wise with you Michael...not at all. I like you and always read your posts because I do like you and respect you but I am a bit of an oddball. Yep...always buy the generic. Ditched television about two years ago after viewing the news through my 8 year old son's eyes and because of money. The past few years have been a little tough so I tend not to spend money on much.

I have bought WSO's but it's mostly because they were from people that I liked and respected so... maybe you're right in that respect. If John Schwartz or CD or a few of the other people that I trust told me that Kraft mac and cheese would turn my life around I would think about ditching the generic and go with the name brand

...sorry... just had a thought. Why not put your avatar or picture in the banner? If someone was a respected WF member that would definitely make an ad stand out. Of course, nobody could use this ==> http://www.warriorforum.com/customav...tar91485_3.gif

Thank you for taking my post the right way. It wasn't meant to be personal, but rather a response to all who think advertising has no effect on them (which you didn't flat out say, and I may have been making a big leap).

Sounds like you are less exposed to advertising than most, but it's unavoidable in this day and age. And, being in a marketing forum, personally, I think it's about time we have these options.

I agree with Willie; the hardest part is choosing which ones to go with. Each has its own benefits that should be considered when placing ads.

The hard part is actually deciding which of

I guess the correct answer may be "all of

Only a matter of time that ad blindness kicks in. It has kicked in for the big banners for me already, now only a couple of days to develop ad blindness for the adsense type ads.

I think that's true, to some degree. But everybody is different and will take longer to develop ad blindness, if at all.

It was touched on earlier: if the ad options will force us to be better ad writers, then that's another reason to like them.
