It's like flipping houses only with websites!
Like houses, it could happen a few ways.

You could buy a crappy house (website) fix it up and sell it for more that you bought it.
Or you could build a new house (website) and sell it to cash in on future profits today.

I'm not sure if the second way is technically considered a "flip" but the term seems to be used pretty loosely.

My second sig. has the skinny on how to make it work.

    Ddanny,

In simple terms, register a domain name, add articles, affiliate links, adsense or any other ad clicks, generate traffic to it and make money from it for few days, weeks or month and sell it off giving the content and the domain to your buyer for his personal purpose.

You can flip domain, web site or blog...

Yep, the above two have got it. Buy a domain, get hosting, create a base site and then add value to it (either through potential, or through marketing it and getting traffic, revenue, subscribers and so on)... once you're ready, sell the site.

Rinse, repeat x about a billion. Of course if you do so you will want to eventually outsource.

Personally, unless you don't think there is a long term in the niche, i'd prefer to keep the site.

By flipping a site your making a wage, if you manage to keep the sites afloat and add to them as you go, it will soon become a decent income!

I agree, especially if you manage to keep up a decent site for a few years.

Competition is fierce now for traffic and viewers, imaging 5 or so years from now.

Think long term, 5, 10, or even 20 years and plan your web investments around that.

I have a lot of sites earning a little so yeah I spose you do need to decide if you think there is long term profits in the niche.

Danny, if you get my free ebook, I explain it with a real life example of a flip. I flip blogs because they are the rage right now and are simple for non-techies to add content once setup. Hope this helps.

I usually just flip the sites that I've made that I'm not interested in maintaining anymore or the return is not enough for the effort. I'm trying to weed my sites down to a manageable level for ease of maintenance. I also make other sites specifically to flip and just do this on a turnkey basis. I like making sites so this is fun for me.

    Hi. Thanks for the information.

I´ve just been reading more about website flipping and have a few questions for those who are selling turnkey sites.

    1. Which is more important? the web design orthe articles that comes with it.?
    2. Will using a wordpress theme with a common license really significantly affect whether someone will buy it or not?
    3. Is it really as easy as some people say it is? or is itonly easy for those who have the technical knowledge for building sites?

So many questions, eh? I hope someone will have the time to answer.

    Thanks

I think it depends on what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. I flip sites and do quite well with it, I find that easier than promoting sites and earning money from them myself.

However, I can see that building a site up for long term profit is very good too, so if you are good at doing that then that is a good option.

    Or do both

My personal experience has been that the content needs to be original, and doing some simple work to build backlinks and then waiting is a lot more profitable for you in the long run rather then a quick create and flip.

Well there are two types of site flipping.

The first is that you go out and buy a crappy site that someone doesn't want any more and you fix it up and then sell it on.

The second is that you have a bunch of sites (like what you have) which are not performing as well as you would want, so you sell them and cash in.

Both types of flipping are extremely profitable.

I've got a WSO right now for my website flipping membership site, which you can see here: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...left-15-a.html

    Thanks
