How are You Making Money with Blogger?

I caught a comment from another thread where someone had several Blogger blogs bringing in some cash.

I am interested in finding out more. If YOU are actually making money from Blogger, would you share with us?

Things like:

How many do you have?
What kind of money are they making for you?
What are you marketing? Information products, Amazon, etc.?
Do you use them for traffic to other sites?
How do you drive traffic to your Blogger blogs?
What are you NOT doing?
What are you doing?

Thanks for the input.

I wouldnt suggest using blogger as it`s hard to rank it on search engines and it can disappear at ANY moment. Google can decide to flat out kick it. Some may make money with, i find its easy to integrate adsense and amazon ads on a blogger blog but it`s also easy on Wordpress. If you can, use wordpress.

Blogger can also be your source of making money. Wordpress, Squidoo, and Hubpages too are on the top rank when it comes to blog sites which has a good revenue returns.

I agree with part of what you said, but really...

Google can kick whatever they want out of the search engines. Blogger or owned blogs. So that point is irrelevant.

I wouldn't use them as money site for the sheer fact that they are owned by Google. Google has the ability to watch them more closely than say a Squidoo lens which isn't owned my them.

Also, it's not owned by you so Google can delete it if they want.

Always use a self hosted Wordpress blog for your money sites.

If you want to make little 1 page mini blogs that you are not gonna put a lot of work into then blogger is fine for that.

If your gonna spend a lot of time on your blog do not be a cheapskate and pay for hosting this is gonna be your online business treat it as such!

      Rob,

I appreciate the outline. I'm thinking that there are some opportunities with Blogger that most are dismissing.

$400 a week from a free platform is a great way for some to start online marketing.

      Thanks,

      - Create a software application to fulfil that need (Autohotkey, Visual Basic, UBOT etc)

      - Use Blogger squeeze page template and write sales copy insert Aweber optin/ Paypal button

      - Submit to Whois and Stats sites using backlinking/indexing software

      - Promote using Twitter and Twaitter, writing blog posts, blog commenting, Yahoo Answers, Ping.FM, ezinearticles etc

That basically is it, and I can usually make sales within 24 hours of putting the product up for sale.

It really isn't hard at all, the only other thing I'd suggest is to get hold of Dennis Becker's excellent "five bucks a day" and follow Dennis's instructions on product creation. I really can't see how anyone can fail using this strategy.

My biggest failing is that I price my products too low...but I still make $400 a week on average and I get freelance work on top of that.

I think creating software is a great way to go, I believe software converts much better than Ebooks, but that's just from my personal experience. If you've got some cash than a great investment to make is to buy UBOT, you can create some fantastic applications with that. Another alternative is Visual Basic or Autohotkey...but there is a big learning curve with programming.

I hope people find this thread useful as I've given away all of my secrets here.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to PM me, I'm always willing to help.

Rob, there was another thread on here about how to make blogger money making blogs. The OP put up an example of one of his blogs and it got reported. He suspected by someone from here. Although just speculation I too think the same thing happened to you. Not sure when people are going to realise there is enough room for all of us and what's more, karma comes as karma does.

Just goes to show you can be friendly and helpful and some idiot will still kick you in the arse. I think the lesson learned here is when you share something valuable someone will want to kick you down, especially if you're making more money than them. That mindset is very bad juju.

        little rant over.

I for one thank you for information. Will DM you....

That is a bit funny, but really nasty if that's what actually happened.

Willie Crawford mentioned on his own forum (not sure if that is even alive anymore) years ago that he had a nice money making blogger.com blog and it got shut down. That was enough for me. I stayed away from it permanently.

Decent hosting is cheap these days. You can get a basic cpanel hosting account at namecheap.com for $2.91 a month. Or at hostpc.com for less than that. (They use DirectAdmin but I happen to prefer it to cpanel and am still with them without problems after 3 years.)

Lloyd - yeah people are pretty sad if this was the case. In all fairness to the OP of that thread I mentioned; he said he kind of knew that would happen and he had the view that if a blog gets reported so what - it's free to put up a new one. I suppose that saved him the stress element.

I have a couple of blogs with blogger but they are just there to build up and push traffic to my self-hosted sites although I'm always curious about the subject of making money on blogger.

The irony of it all is that when you set up blogger you're given big hints to set up google adsense and Amazon associates and 'make money with your blog' HA. OOh the irony isn't lost on me.

It's entirely possible to make money through blogger. I did it on accident. It works the same as any other site... fill it with valuable content and relevant ads/adsense and you're set. I agree that it is great for people just starting out, as it doesn't cost anything. Purchasing domains can be costly when you're trying to find the right niche. I've tested out a lot of ideas through blogger and a few of them paid out better than anything else I've tried.

It has it's cons, which have already been addressed, but yes, it is entirely possible to make money from a blogger blog.

    How many do you have?
I have a "network" of 16 Blogger blogs, across three accounts.

What kind of money are they making for you?
No need to get into specifics here. They didn't cost me a damn dime to set up and I make enough to satisfy my car payment and insurance.

What are you marketing? Information products, Amazon, etc.?
I promote affiliate products, mostly through merchants who belong to the ShareASale network.

Do you use them for traffic to other sites?
Only to my affiliate sites. For the most part they are standalone blogs and are treated as such.

How do you drive traffic to your Blogger blogs?
Niche specific message boards drive a majority of my traffic, especially for the sites in the women's fashion niche.

    What are you NOT doing?
I'm not sure what I'm not doing. What I am doing is working.

    What are you doing?
Treating my blogs like any other website. Everyone is so worried Google is going to come ruin their party if they build on the network. I have more important things to worry about--getting my conversion rate up is a good one.

      Mike,

      Real helpful input.

You answered the "What kind of money" question very well. There are some threads on the forum with comments like "235+ sites making $4-$50 per day" and "150+ sites making $6-$100 per day". I was just looking for an idea of income potential.

A car payment and insurance in my area is easily $300 to $600 a month.

      Thanks,

      Joe Mobley

Don't forget to hit the Thanks button under Zeuss66's posts, he deserves credit for his write-ups.

I actually do not use Blogger blogs to directly make any money. I use them to host content, and to send traffic thru which I want one step away from my primary money site.

Example: If I'm using YouTube videos which push the envelope a little bit (promotional wise) and might end up getting an account suspended, I send them to a Blogger blog with a very hard push to get them to my own domains. It reduces the risk of my own blogs taking a bigger slap.

Nice conversations going on here. Well I did managed to earn from adsense with my blogger blog. I got a single blogspot active today. I dont spend too much time on getting traffic for it because of the threat that on the future it may be flagged or something. So what I do is get on a blogging network and that friendly traffic converts to adsense clicks.
