Best way to generate traffic before launch?

Right now I'm in the process of launching my product and I have a blog set up with a newsletter capture form to get leads before my product is actually released (to build hype, etc.)

What are some of the best ways to generate non-spammy traffic in this regard?

PPC doesn't seem cost effective considering there's nothing to buy yet.

I would say article marketing and trying to get these articles to rank high enough to get some organic search engine traffic. Also, you could get some traffic and subscribers from using Twitter. There are tons of people on there that could be interested in your niche (whatever it is).

Excellent suggestion - check out search.twitter.com and enter keywords related to your product to find potential audience. Look for #tags. When you use that tag in your tweets, everyone searching or getting feeds for that tag will see your post.

Also, search for authority sites in your niche for potential JV partners, maybe. HELPFUL forum posts with links back to your site/blog would be good. A Squidoo lens, some social bookmarking (socialmarker.com, e.g.) would help, too.

      Just more ideas...

If you have your own list then simply create a video and tell them the benefits of whatever the subject of your product is, don't tell them you have a product for them just yet.

A few days, later hype them up and tell them that your almost done working on something big that is going to help them. Finally, email them with a video that spills the beans and direct them to your website.

This is one great way of launching a product but I suggest you get some JV partners and tell them to follow the same steps and give them all the material they need so all they have to do is copy & paste the material to advertise to their own lists. Hope this helps..

    Best Regards,

I would have to say you need a social media traffic campaign.

It should include bookmarking as a great source of incoming traffic. We go over that in the Social Media Formula. Launched a brand new site and had so much traffic Hostgator suspended my account. Had a traffic increase of over 1100%!

Bookmarking will get that traffic to you, if you know what you're doing.

All good advice. Kept notes for my future product launch. The emails I get tell me that others are using their massive list two weeks prior to the launch to generate hype.

  • Back links are great and all........but the real truth is getting ranked super high on google top 10 page rankings....and you want in a very high traffic subject matter, such as ( Internet Fun.....keyword rank over 290,000,000 pages ) or .... so you have to do some re-search and study the market and then beat everyones websites.
One clue, having more backlinks than everyone else doesn't matter as much as high content website, with perfectly placed keywords.
And I do not believe in any software that can do this better than the humand mind still.........I know people will disagree with me, but my websites I have created for other people rank in the top pages, every single one of them almost.I average close to 90% top rankings.
Maybe there's a software out there that can do better, but I have not seen this yet. And I have been ranking sites since 1993.

But if your looking to sell a website, you'll need tons of backlinks coming from websites with subject matters related to your own.
The higher your PR ranking the better you'll sell your web site.
Yet I have seen PR3 websites that far out rank PR6 websites in the top 10 rankings on google. So if your running an affiliate program making money, then I'd go for the higher google ranking first and worry about backlinks second.
Also building a name in Social Media can take time, don't just post links, for the sake of posting links, make sure you say something positive.
Or people won't respect your links.

Remember Ranking high on Google isn't Spamming.....but you still will need some solid links before google will rank you. I look at google as a puzzle, fit the pieces together right and you'll get ranked once you know what to look for. It isn't magic, it's common sense.

I would try working your way through as many of the social bookmarking sites at socialmarker.com as possible, probably just 5-10 per day, however.

Regarding Twitter, start following people with lots of followers, then reply to their tweets using @username. I *believe* others who follow them will see your message also. If you have a link to a site in your message, you could potentially draw a lot of traffic. Obviously, you do NOT want to be spammy about this - find something related to their post, or ask for their advice, etc. As with forums, blogs, etc., treat all people and communication with the respect they/it deserve.

I've made "friends" with the likes of Willie Crawford and Mari Smith, and received direct messages from them. Willie says he's replaced email with Twitter, more or less.

      Hope that helps.

  • Check out blogs and forums related to what you're selling.
If it's cars.........find all the top 10 car foums and start posting 5 to 10 posts a day on each for a few months....yes it will take a couple hours, but........think about how far you'll go.
Also I like googles Blogspot, digital Point, Warrior forum, topix, and many blogs in the music industry for me.

Twitter is a communication tool. You're supposed to use it to be social and converse with people. If you get on there and start shouting your link everywhere it will be seen as TWAM and you'll be unfollowed quickly and frowned upon.

On top of that, the people you spam will more than likely spread the word about you spamming on Twitter. I've seen it done many times. That person went from 340 followers to 108 in a matter of a few days.

What id do is create a series of vidoes about my product and how it can help people and post one video every few days and post that on my blog and then ping it everywhere. Id also upload that video to all video sharing sites.

Id get get those visitors to optin to receive my future vidoes and then once they are in my autoresponder id send them scheduled mail about my soon to be launched product then follow up that way.
