List Building With Twitter - It Works!

Hi folks,

Just want to let you know my quick system for getting optins using twitter.

System = Twitter + Blog + Aweber + Optin Page = List building!

Cheers
Keith

hehe..only joking!

Here is the system for you:

Set up a twitter account for your niche. Change your profile, put up a good pic, a short bio etc. Add a few followers who are leaders in the niche - I suggest doing this when twitter is busiest. I find the busiest time is between 2pm and 7pm in the UK. (GMT)

I have a list of 500 followers who will follow you back just pm me and I will send you the list (no optin or anything).

This will get you started and attracts other followers to your account. Don't add more than 100 each day and not all at once - spread the 500 out over the week and add them when twitter is busiest. If you add popular twitterers when twitter is busy you go onto their first page of followers thereby attracting some of their other followers and also any new ones.

I use tweetdeck to keep a track on my twitter accounts - my main one at pearlydean has over 28,000 followers so I only track the mentions and reply to those. Poeple are rewteeting my (bad) jokes and quotes all the time and I interact with the Retweeters throughout the day. I have my jokes set on autotweet using Tweet Adder so that I can work whilst providing smiles for my followers.

Now set up your blog. If you don't know how to do this let me know as I have a free guide to show you how. I also have one for twitter. Both very basic but get you set up and ready to roll. You can always google how to set them up if you want.

I use a plugin called Twitter Tools which tweets my blog posts to my twitter account. Also throughout the day I tweet links back to my blogs which will take you to an optin page....this is the way I get lots of optins to my list. If you then add regular content to your blog it will be tweeted to your twitter account and attract visits to the blog.

On your blog have links in your sidebar to an optin page. It is best to provide a free offer such as a report or ebook. I use different offers all the time but they are my own products which work best in my opinion. If you don't have a free offer yet either use any of mine or create your own from my guides if you want.

This system works really well and I use it across 5 twitter accounts in different niches. I add anything between 10 or 50 new optins per day depending on the niche and once set up it doesn't take much time at all to monitor.

The secret as with any social media platform is to engage your contacts in a conversation and be prepared to help. People like people not machines so if you come across as a normal real human being when you use twitter you will attract a lot more real followers.

This is just one basic way to add to your list but is a good starting point.

Hope that helps and give it a try as the old saying still goes "the money is in the list".

Cheers
Pearlydean

Cheers Rob those are good resources too. I also use Hootsuite and Social Oomph.

With Social Oomph I set up my twitter accounts with an auto message that is friendly and links to my blog. That way when people follow you they have another link to your blog - and optin and hopefully get on your list! I also set it to follow back any new followers.

What is the best WP plugin to create tweets automatically when you post an article to your site, and provide a backlink. Or to create tweets on previously already posted blogs on your site?

Has anyone tried WPTB (WP Tweet Bomb)? Does the idea sound good? and is there an alternative?

The article above is great! That is true that you want to be followed by real human and not machines. On that end, I heard Twitter doesn't like it if we tweet just bit.ly links all the time. What's your advice on that?

    Thanks

  • Hi PearlyDean, thanks for the tips. I have a WSO offering list buuilding tools which can be added to short urls and to landing/webpages and even blogs etc.

I wondered if these would increase your list building within Twitter?

Excellent advice. Do you know if the people on Twitter you're engaging between 2pm and 7pm GMT live primarily in the UK, or are they from all over?
