Hey warriors,

I have seen lots of exit splashes on wordpress websites recently and I was wondering if it really helps with increasing sales?

Also, is there a way to get it for free? lol..

Thanks!

Yes exit popups can work sometimes specially with ppv, though most ppv network dont allow this.

In my opinion, these types of ads are very annoying and make me want to leave the site even more and not come back. They are a desperation attempt at getting a sale, and frankly reflect poorly on the site that uses them. Sorry for the harshness, but I'm just speaking based on my own browsing experience.

hello, leclaims: i totally agree with you, except that i like exit popups that contain useful freebies, like reports or even better, free software, without having to opt in!

if you want to please your visitor, you don't have to force her to opt in to get that free report, because the report itself has affiliate links and is of such much value that she will most likely share it with her friends, making it go viral and she will want to know more about you, opting in through your links provided in the report!

always keep in mind delivering value to your customer, and not how much the customer will be of value to you!

I couldn't agree more. I think the worst are the ones which offer you a lower price. If you had decided to buy the product straight off you would be paying a higher price.

I agree with your point in principle, however, the website owner usually doesn't care whether you're just leaving the site, or you're leaving the site ANGRILY. Either way, they're still not making a sale.

But the the second chance offer really doesn't hurt.

they should make a popup that won't allow you to shut down your computer and leave your browser tab until you give them your email.

Every test I've ever seen or done has shown a significant increase in sales using exit pops. Either you're a marketer or a consumer. If someone is leaving your site, do you really care if you piss them off?

This is the way I see it too. If they're already leaving, why not still try to make some sort of profit or advantageous move by making an exit splash? It might sound wrong ethically, but it's been tested to increase revenue by people who weren't planning on buying previously.

I certainly don't like doing it, though. I like to build trust of customers and let them leave when they want to.

I do hate these annoying popups, but I do also agree with Bruce in part.

Maybe the visitor will be on the fence about your offer, then a discount comes and brings them to the inside. Some people aren't going to want your product either way, but for those that do I believe it would work.

    Just don't over do it.

One time this site hit me with so many I thought I was never gonna get out of there...

Using exitsplash on sales pages works because you can harvest few email that way.

But not in the case of blogs. Blogs get repeat visitors and an exit popup will piss them off really bad.
